  1. Jerry Williams £86, I struggle to get £20 for that, great as it is
  2. Sorry thought you meant the orange and black one from 77
  3. Is that the reissue of Ann Sexton for £85?
  4. Actually thats wrong I need 12, 13 and 15 but someone just got issue 12 for me.
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181315237567?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649 complete set of Beatin Rhythm magazines I actually wrote and produced all these but I don't have a full set of my own, so I thought well if I have a sneaky £33 bid, they probably won't make a tenner anyway, they went for £71! It's not a complete set though, he didn't have number 16, which I do have. I need issues 11, 12 and 14 though. I did write and ask him if he could copy them for me but he didn't even reply to say no anyway I might get these republished as one book, that'll be like 150 pages of records records records..
  6. Paula Parfitt, absolutely, all our girls loved that
  7. I don't understand why you can't see why it has anything to do with Northern Soul, it's a Northern Soul record, it ain't a soul record but it is 100% definitely a Northern Soul record...because it sounds like one.
  8. Matrix stamp is same as the smaller number under the catalogue number mate
  9. Nah, thought someone on here might know. I'll take a photo of it and post it up, it might be a promo for the album or AN album because it mentions an LP catalogue number. Wait a sec.
  10. I maintain that some tailor mades were perfect for the time and still stand up - just about - Weak Spot, LJ Johnson, you couldn't have got bigger records than these - LJ Johnson even went massive a second time as a shock revived oldie in 78. Weak Spot still sounds good.
  11. Poppies - There's A Pain In My Heart.
  12. I have this oddball record, it's HERMAN GRIFFIN / TRUE LOVE / IT'S YOU - COLUMBIA now the ones I see on places like JM's site are on a Columbia demo, nothing unusual there, but this one is on a solid centre, 33RPM, yellow label Columbia, on styrene. It's definitely a US press. Wonder why a) it's on a 33 and b) why it omits the Jobete publishing off the label? This is the only trace of it I could find
  13. Doesn't make sense. Wrong Side Of Town is a NS record like it or not, the others aren't, The Who is a rock record and Abba is a sh*t record, so they wouldn't be considered for play anyway.
  14. B.B. did have an American chart pop hit though, on his own - The Thrill Is Gone
  15. Anywhere they don't play modern and crossover
  16. A kind of chill out mix featuring some Studio One classics, Treasure Isle recuts and various rare 45's. I love the Macka B track over the 54-46 rhythm, sums up what collecting vinyl is all about. The DJ Alagoriddim tracks are interesting, I found them on youtube where he has posted up stacks of mixes, they take one track and mix together several versions of the same tune by different artists, check his mixes out if you get time, hope they don't mind me using them. FRANKIE WILMOTH - STAY WITH ME PETER HUNNINGALE - NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD MACKA B - NEVER PLAYED A 45 THE PARAGONS - MY NUMBER ONE CORNELL CAMPBELL - TEN TO ONE 12" GLEN ADAMS - HOLD HIM JOE DJ ALGORIDDIM - LOVE WON'T COME EASY FREDDIE McKAY - TEARS WON'T HELP YOU JERRY JONES - STILL WATERS LEE PERRY & THE GAYLADS - RUN RUDIES RUN LADY LEX - IS THIS LOVE LLOYD & GLEN - YOU WON'T REGRET IT DJ AGLORIDDIM - GIRL I'VE GOT A DATE LLOYD & GLEN - KEEP ON PUSHING CARLTON LIVINGSTONE - JAM IT UP 12" THE TECHNIQUES - YOU DON'T CARE 12" ANTHONY ELLIS - PLEASE BE TRUE LLOYD & GLEN - FEEL GOOD NOW THE MARTINIS - I SECOND THAT EMOTION LADY LEX - BREAKING UP https://old.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/never-played-a-45-reggae-rocksteady-studio-1-mix/
  17. I do think there were lots of great 70's Northern sounds, I really do. I don't think Carstairs was one of them though.

  19. I can't quite grasp what it is, what sound, that the records have in common or I'd be glad to suggest something!
  20. Exodus was a big Wigan main room spin on pre-release LP I think, I even saw a couple of people have it on EMIDISCS when they didn't put it out as a 45. This is the same period as The Night, Weak Spot etc. A 4 week wonder. Confusing because on his LP he had a track called Northern Dancer I think, which they did issue as a single, but nobody was interested in.
  21. Don't tell me you've never heard of the ancient sport of Licing, you have to shoot woodlice with a peashooter
  22. Northern Soul Show, Bridge Radio, myself guesting 10.2.14 Thought some of you may like to hear the stuff I played on Garry Edwards show last night on Bridge Radio 102.5 FM (Stourbridge & West Midlands). I really enjoyed the experience and Garry and Bill made me feel really at home. I wasn't really sure what to play but I know I didn't want to play oldie after oldie so there's a mix of all sorts on there, no Modern or Crossover though, naturally. I've had to edit it quite savagely as I don't have a decent editing program but it flows together okay with the adverts etc cut out. It last for about 90 minutes, and I hope you enjoy listening to it. (The last track, The Dip by The Whispers, is missing). You can hear Garry's Northern Soul show every sunday at 7PM at 102.5 FM or online at https://thebridgeradio.net/ GLORIA & THE T'AIRAS - I'M SATISFIED APRIL, MAY & JUNE - HE WENT AWAY BOBBY MAC - SHY GUY CAJUN HART - GOT TO FIND A WAY CAROLYN CRAWFORD - FORGET ABOUT ME CHAPTER FIVE - YOU CAN'T MEAN IT DONI BURDICK - BARI TRACK THE HONEY BEES - NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS JOHNNIE MAE MATTHEWS - I HAVE NO CHOICE THE RONETTES - HERE I SIT HIGH VOLTAGE - COUNTRY ROAD THE ROYAL ROBINS - SOMETHING ABOUT YOU SENDS ME DENNIS D'ELL - BETTER USE YOUR HEAD GLEN MILLER - WHERE IS THE LOVE SONNY CHILDE & TNT - HEARTBREAK DIANE LEWIS - YOU AIN'T GOT A CHANCE STUART SMITH - THE DRIFTER ARGIE & THE ARKETTES - YOU'RE THE GUY FRED SMITH ORCHESTRA - DON'T PRETEND (ORIGINAL CUT) MONIQUE - IF YOU LOVE ME (SHOW ME) LIVING COLOR - THANK THE LORD FOR LOVE SUSAN MAUGHAN - THAT OTHER PLACE THE WHISPERS - THE DIP (RECORDING ENDS BEFORE THIS COMES ON) https://old.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/northern-soul-show-bridge-radio-myself-guesting-10214/
