  1. Northern as anything
  2. This is exactly what I was trying to say but was unable to put it across as well as this. If it sounds like Northern, it's Northern.
  3. I was never saying it wasn't a NS record, I was saying it's roots are nearer to rock and roll than they are to soul, seeing as 'soul' hadn't even been born when CS came out.
  4. They are mainly kind of inbetween Medium and Large, I always buy them a bit too big as I don't like tight fitting shirts, some even have XL on the labels but they aren't. Up to 44" chest I'd say. I think that facebook link at the top takes you to sizes for individual things.
  5. Darrell Banks by a mile.
  6. I watched it and enjoyed it, Merry Clayton stole the show for me, but it was maybe 20 minutes too long and I didn't watch all the way to the end.
  7. Some need to learn about music full stop.
  8. All I know is it came from an old collection, meaning someone who was collecting in the 60's and early 70's, probably thought it was a doo wop record and never played it!
  9. Thats the LP I was thinking of, there's two from that periood with stacks of soul covers on, shame her voice isn't better/stronger. I still like the B side of You're My World, "Suffer Now I Must". Best get away from talking about Cilla Black before someone crashes the thread to tell us off.
  10. I had this for 20 years before I knew The Manhattans even existed, thought it was a reggae original!
  11. Dave, of course the Manhattans track is possibly even better known in this version
  12. Seriously Dave, it's good, if you didn't know it was white/UK produced you might rate it (not YOU as in you) https://www.45cat.com/record/202235
  13. Barry St John was the only one that got played. Brian Poole only collected by UK label nuts. There's something else on that Cilla LP isn't there, Yo Yo or something like that. There's another male version of it on US Amy or Mala. Barry St John's is the only version (for me anyway.)
  14. Believe it or not there is a very good UK version of this on CBS by Midlands group Zuider Zee.
  15. Apologies for not going back and seeing if this has been posted, but this one, along with Walter Jackson's "Uphill Climb", is one of the only two records that can almost reduce me to tears under the right / wrong circumstances. The Manhattans - The One That Love Forgot
  16. Well anyone can by it off me if they want!
  17. Very unusual expression that ' Copp A Groove", wonder where they got that from?
  18. All Night Long was great. Well one side of it was anyway. The second side of mine remains mint LOL They pulled a fast one sort of, they had excess sleeves so the pressed up a totally different LP with things like You Want To Change Me on it, and sold it in the original's album cover, with a photocopied insert inside the sleeve with the real tracks.
  19. Agree with everything you say, but I think Nev was being very tongue in cheek with his Soul Sam comment.
  20. Being There. Love that film. He's called Chance The Gardener but they think it's Chauncey Gardner.
  21. It is that. It's credited to ROG Whittaker on the record (Fontana I think, without checking). I've actually got this on a 45.
  22. Never really had that situation with Magic Potion though. Massive popularity I mean.
  23. It's just an accurate way to date things. 90*** / 100*** are from 74 to 77
