  3. It's the 1977 one, by Tony Palmer, the one that we were all there when they filmed
  4. Some good pop records played as NS though, not saying that one is great but Tell Her, More Today Than yesterday etc
  5. (3 or 4 separate episodes, I'll post all under this topic) Spring is in the air so I dusted off the trusty old Citronic decks and did something I've meant to do for ages, just get all of my favourite records and play the lot of them in one session. Well it turned out that I had more favourite records than I thought, and it turned into two sessions, lasting nearly 4 hours. Still it means I can put up three quality podcasts of hand picked Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae treasures, all spun live from lovely vinyl. (Some of this vinyl has seen better days so please be prepared for some snap crackle and pop on certain tracks). These should be great - hope you enjoy them. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/130-jamaican-scorchers-part-1/ PART 1 CARL DAWKINS - I'LL MAKE IT UP THE WAILERS - HYPOCRITES THE TENNORS - REGGAE GIRL THE UNIQUES - GYPSY WOMAN STRANGER & KEN - ARTIBELLA THE TECHNIQUES - IT'S YOU I LOVE THE SKATALITES - TIMOTHY PHYLLIS DILLON - LOVE WAS ALL I HAD SOUND DIMENSION - ROCK FORT ROCK BITTY McLEAN - WALK AWAY FROM LOVE THE PARAGONS - THE TIDE IS HIGH TOOTS & THE MAYTALS - DO THE REGGAY PRINCE BUSTER ALL STARS - AL CAPONE THE KINGSTONIANS - MIX IT UP D. 6. Don't think it's ever been classed as soul music. Northern Soul, yes. And it is.
  7. Current high bid on this is £410
  8. Three bids on this so far. Latest is £750.
  9. I think U2 fans are probably aged between 30 and 50 in general
  10. Thought it dragged on a bit. I've got a colour documentary on the Fame Studios from circa 1970 which I enjoyed more. Still, another great documentary from BBC 4.
  11. Well to be fair to him, he was a dancer not a singer, so it's not that bad an attempt really.
  12. It is, but it's never £200
  13. OK another damaged one unfortunately but the news is good. This has a chip out of the edge as you can see, but you still have two grooves to cue it in, I cued it without lining it up or anything, just dropped the needle straight into the groove. Bit of black tape stuck to the other side, nobody will ever know! (As you can see, I fixed it!) Apart from that, it's in fabulous condition, one mark and a few paper scuffs but plays as near to mint as you could hope for. Offers over £300 on this one. £360 offered so far
  14. Here's one you don't see every day. Well to be honest, you never see it. Pretty sure it was never actually issued as a stock copy and there's only a handful of DJ copies turned up. This was the first copy discovered and came directly from Billy Jackson. The bad news is, it's got a hairline crack, one of those cracks that doesn't go through all the way so that the two edges can be separated, but enough to cause a couple of clicks on the stunning Beat Ballad on side 2. I would say the play grade of that is still EX minus. Love Keep Me Crying plays EX with no clicks whatsoever. As I say, the crack has not gone all the way through. WALTER WILSON - LOVE KEEPS ME CRYING / NOT NOW BUT LATER - WAND 1153 DJ. Accepting offers on this, starting at £500, will end when owner tells me offer is high enough, it's not an auction running to a set time, I'll just leave it up until it's sold.
  15. Great expression - rare n boring - I agree with you
  16. Love the Charlie Gracie record. The fact you spelt it Charley means you listened to it off a boot, if you hear it off a kosher copy it sounds great!
  17. That is truly terrible. p.s. I have a demo
  18. I bet none of you have got this one. It's for sale. VG and needs a clean. Earl Van Dyke - All For You - Rediffusion 78rpm 10" acetate. This was used on the Dusty / Motown special all the way through as backing music, and this came from someone who used to work for the TV company.

  20. Nowadays I don't care - I'll buy it on whatever is the cheapest label, if that means Steptoes white label specials, it'll do...I've done all my collecting
  21. Asking someone who's probably spent £50,000 on UK label records why to buy British is probably not the way to go
