  1. Hmm. Not a phrase I like to use much myself. If I've played it, it's mint minus.
  2. On "Essential Northern Soul Story" it's the 2nd version. On "Northern Soul of LA" it's the first take. Those are both cd's. If you remind me which volume of the LP it was on I should be able to tell you which version it was.
  3. Purple Haze came out on this as well.
  4. Going by his other two records, the Inspirations vocalist does not sound like John Hendley, Andy, to my ears anyway. I know you probably got that from the horse's mouth but doesn't sound like him.
  5. Actually I guess what you say is perfectly true - live auctions do only end one when one person stops bidding.
  6. I know, it's difficult. On the last day of the Del Larks, I had no phone calls at all, and then about 6 starting at ten minutes before the end. I was getting email bids, but I couldn't get to them because I was on the phone, I replied to an emailer at 7:57 to please ring his bid in, lo and behold I end it at 8pm and an email arrives at 8:01 with a bid higher than the one I closed it at. This is why I hate auctions. Except I have a Salvadors coming up soon, so same thing again..
  7. 3rd outing for this one Mark!
  8. All I have to say about auctions is that, from the experience of running three in the last two weeks, two of them on extremely rare records, I don't think it's right that bidding should continue ad infinitum until someone drops out. I told people I would end the auction at 8 0 clock last night - I ended it at 8 0 clock and the one in the lead won it, despite a later, higher bid coming in.
  9. He's never come across as particularly biased to me - though I wish he wouldn't lock the sales and auction lists :-)
  10. I'd look at paying £125 for a copy
  11. I don't know - same with Earl Wright "Thumb A Ride" and others
  12. No demos of this are there?
  13. Nothing annoys me more than the people who only post on here to sell records. Make no contribution to the forum. They should be charged for the privilige if they aren't going to join in.
  14. Not 100% positive but I think it's the person who had R Domar's records
  15. Hey now! I reply to all my Discogs orders same day and 90% of the time I get them sent out on the same day, let alone take 2 days to reply. Anyone who doesn't reply is just a lazy f*ck.
  16. There's got to be some of these in the UK. When I was 14, 15, you bought a soul pack and half of them would be Chess group labels.
  17. And also - I love reading John's descriptions, they should all be collected in a book.
  18. I think we get that from seeing the crazy prices these people pay for records they could find elsewhere for half what they bid!
  19. How much????? £25 maybe....
  20. Yeah I've seen it, I think Maslar or Peter knew the name of the program it came from, I've got the clips but not the whole program though.
  21. It reminds me of the backing to Quittin' Time. Yeah not a bad version, might pay £50 for it maybe, but $900, never in a million years - besides, there's only about 3 people left in the UK who could keep up with it
  22. Ah that's harsh, I just listened to the instrumental, beautiful, the second version, phenomenal, and the original version, superb. I think it's the same vocalist on both. And he does a great job on the original as well. Did I ever tell you about the time i 'found' him before anyone else did blah blah blah...
  23. I can't see it but the three titles he mentiones were bootlegged in the 70's as 'test pressings', very few of the Eddie Taylor's got out.
  24. Which one Chris?
  25. So I was right - reissue with fake labels - it'll have a delta number (triangle) 102391
