It's amazing mate, he is just totally brilliant, one of the best performances ever - and this is in the 90's or 2000's as well.

Those red one, I always thought they were pressings because they only seemed to appear in 1976 - I wonder if they were a legit custom press for the Northern scene?

Sort of, I sold a copy of Joanne Courcey to Max and said I'd take it over there, so to avoid breaking it putting it on my car seat, I decided to put it in a mailer, pushed it in and put my thumb right through it. He didn't even notice the crack and was going to give me the £500 I was asking, but I showed it him and he paid £200.

I've done that so many times it's a joke. It's usually when they've only put one bit of card in with the record and I just cut straight through the seal and the record.

I mix the fluid that came with that with about 8 parts water. Spray it on the record, then play it while still wet. Does it work? Does for me. But more often than not, I just use a small spot of washing up liquid and rinse it in warm water. That foam I used to use did the job, got masses of dirt out of the grooves, but was dangerous to use indoors because of the fumes.

Yeah that was where I first heard of it - possibly one of the best record reviews ever, you didn't actually have to hear the record, the review told you everything.

Russ, unless I have dreamt it, that 'Eyes Of Love' came out and I've either had it or got it in itunes still. I'll investigate.

This thing about Decca turning down the Beatles isn't quite as clear cut as people think it is. They were told they could only sign one of either Brian Poole & The Tremeloes, or The Beatles. The decision wasn't taken musically or stylistically, it was taken because BRian Poole's lot lived in an easy commute to the Decca Studios and The Beatles would have had to come from 100 miles away - and that is the only reason they were rejected by decca. The "beat groups are on their way out" statement most closely associated with this incident, is an urban myth.

No, just a couple off Ready Steady Go I think. Bear in mind this was years ago, I uploaded all of The Beat before it was reissued, loads of Shindigs etc. Much of what eventually came out as Legends Of Northern Soul. But fortunately, you can get most of this stuff now anyway, but it was a bit scary getting that legal letter.
