  1. Oh right sorry, you mean photos of the deadwax in both versions...sorry, not got original any more...and some say not all of those are originals either
  2. Must stress Stateside issue not London issue - if it was London issue, it would be the rarest UK soul release.
  3. Took these on the phone, sorry not great quality, NEITHER of these sides play Heaven Is In Your Arms, they both play the B side despite the matrixes being A and B
  4. The nearest I've been to Sweden is my Dad once went there on work and bought me back a Sweden football shirt - 1971
  5. I'd love you to play any one of those sets in the main room at Stoke, or Blackpool, or Goodyears Wolverhampton even. The world "going for a quick smoke outside" record would be broken' leaving three people on the floor telling us that this is the way forward. Nothing personal H it's just no matter what others might tell you, the scene in the UK is 90% oldies.
  6. The ones at the top of the tree have always had to buy records they didn't necessarily like though, just so they actually had it. Maybe it's more regional now but I'm thinking mid 70's for instance, there'd be say 20 real proper name jocks and if one had a new top sound, the others would have to get it by hook or by crook. Did anyone really ever like "The Whole Thing"? They all had it..
  7. The guy who posted it is named myersART so I guess he did it anyway
  8. I'm positive in my own mind that any Okeh 45 with a small 45 on the label was not originally released in the 60's, there's no way they are going to break the sequence and change the label for the odd release, they were just put out as demo copies and not full releases. I reckon anyway.
  9. Darrell Banks is twice as rare as Timi Yuro but now sells for half it's price. This is because to half the people who are buying Timi Yuro, they think it's a newie. I first got it in 88 and I was late to the ball with that. So it's been played for nearly 30 years. Darrell Banks, played as a new release, so maybe everyone who wants it has already got it.
  10. It might be interesting to you but the playlists you posted up are at total odds with most venues in the UK, you've got your tunes, we've got ours by the looks of it, and yours and your friends playlist tunes would go down like a lead balloon over here, so you enjoy yourselves and let us get on with it without calling people dinosaurs just because they don't like soul pack rejects.
  11. I do. It was a totally different world back then. Can you imagine being threatened to be beaten up for wearing a soul patch to a venue you'd never been to? I was. You could not just walk in and think you were the dogs nads, you had to do your time. If that's not the case now, and it obviously isn't, then that's great for you, but don't disrespect people like Chalky coming on here trying to explain what it was like back then, it won't do you any favours. Young flash gits with money will never get any respect from me.
  12. Because he gives the public what they want. OK let me give you an example from elsewhere. I've seen Bowie live about 15 times right. I've not seen him since 1987 because that was bad enough. Now, if he announced a new album, and a tour, I think I would go and see him. However, if he played all new stuff and didn't dip into his back catalogue, I'd want my money back.
  13. Daft thing to say. If I say "that's an oldies set", why is it b*llocks? Didn't say it was bad.
  14. Double edged sword though - it's alright saying you should do your own thing, but what if your audience don't like your thing and they like the thing they've always liked! Hence the repetitive playlists.
  15. He's the top dealer.
  16. AS I KEEP GETTING ASKED WHEN THIS AUCTION WILL END, ONLY NATURALLY, I HAVE DECIDED THAT THIS IS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN: I WILL END THE AUCTION AT 6 0'CLOCK (PM) SHARP TOMORROW FRIDAY 18TH APRIL. NOW THE IMPORTANT BIT. BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE BIDDING THE SAME AMOUNT AS ONE ANOTHER AND THEN ADDING ON £50, TO INFINITY, I WILL ONLY ACCEPT BIDS IN WRITING VIA EMAIL FROM NOW ON. IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN THE RECORD, WRITE DOWN YOUR BID AND EMAIL IT TO ME AT pete.smith@freeuk.com PROBABLY BEST NOT TO LEAVE IT UNTIL THE VERY LAST MINUTE AS THE HIGHEST BID WILL WIN IT, WHETHER IT'S RECEIVED TODAY OR TOMORROW. I WILL NOT REVEAL ANY PERSON'S BID TO ANOTHER PERSON. JUST WRITE DOWN YOUR TOP BID, SIMPLE AS THAT. I'LL CONTACT EVERYONE WHO HAS BID AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE 6PM DEADLINE PASSES. GOOD LUCK. PETE
  17. Well nothing - but what makes 99% of dj's different to any other?
  18. I don't agree. I quite liked that playlist, and if Jordan is playing these too a 'young' audience, they won't know half of them. They'll be like newies.
  19. The US bootleg 45? Not rare at all, one on ebay from the same seller every week for years. Unless you mean a proper withdrawn 45, in which case, sorry, didn't know there was a real one.
  20. If it's a 60's release, sounds amazing. If it's 70's or 80's, doesn't count.
  21. No, you know the yellow Atlantic demos? It's like one of those but with blank yellow demo labels and the title was handwritten on, they must have done a few of these test pressings then changed their mind and replaced it with another track (all tracks were on an EP I think) so there is an actual demo for that issue number, but the ICBTN is just on those two or three test presses.
  22. I know, but especially on Beatles records on Ebay, there's hundreds of them, I personally wouldn't call it a demo, I'd just say it has a sample sticker on the label and sell it as an issue
  23. Jamaican version is first though it's not a ska / reggae version. Was a big hit. Then he moved to the UK and re-recorded it.
