  1. Is supplying two quotes "hogging the limelight" when the man in question doesn't want to talk about it?
  2. No I think it's only in the online one
  3. As someone just pointed out to me - the article really does Darrell Banks some justice as well, link to a clip of OTTDTYH, mention of Soul Of Detroit and the story of his death - might get people to listen to the music
  4. The chap who wrote it, Bob Stanley, does know his onions, he wrote a brilliant book on the history of pop Yeah Yeah Yeah, he formed the band Saint Etienne and made one of the greatest records of the 90's, he advises on various music programs and I saw my first ever copy of Don Gardner Is This Really Love at his house, he does know what he is on about.
  5. Well he probably going to say "dealer, collector and something else" so just put "Wolves fan". I dunno.
  6. Before I get slagged off for this, firstly the journalist in question asked me to put him in touch with Nick, but Nick declined to speak to him. Secondly, I don't actually use the phrase "half inched" so there is some poetic license there. But it's a good plug for Soul Source and at least one person in the comments section has followed the link and come on here. https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/jun/27/souls-holy-grail-why-the-rarest-record-in-the-world-is-causing-so-much-fuss
  7. Although it isn't much to ask, what's on the B side, is it?
  8. It'd be like Record Porn to me
  9. The word Stateside must have been mentioned in the description of the Mercury record mate, in fact it was, saying it was a cover of Mary Wells on Stateside
  10. Only place I've ever heard that played was Mr. M's. Always a popular record in there.
  11. Not a lot I'm afraid. £10. I'd have said maybe £50 for the demo but I obviously know f*ck all about records, the expert auction bidders have all the knowledge.
  12. Boots - second issues - same thing! I can guarantee you that in the 70's, very few people asked whether records pressed were legal reissues. They were known across the board as 'pressings'.
  13. See if this worked https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=stateside
  14. Yes you can search by keyword so just type in stateside at the top right (I think)
  15. Yes it's on Sterling, white label black writing, same track both sides and not fantastic quality.
  16. Yes, all of them, going back to Gypsy Woman which was on a blue HMV issue. That's a really rare R&W. Got one in the very early days of ebay for about £8.
  17. I've got a ready built website for that already though Kev... https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/
  18. They are beautiful, as are the pink and silver Verve demos. Still prefer red and white's of everything though. Cal Tjader on UK Verve r & w demo, that's a beauty.
  19. Most of these records were made to be played on 60's record players and stereos. Not posh high end hi fi systems. That's why I'm perfectly happy to play mine on a Dansette as well as a Stanton.
  20. Thanks everyone.
  21. 1) Yes, one without writing on 2) Yes, a red and white one. Green and white's just do not have the same effect on me. 3) I can't think of anything more beautiful than this demo
