The bootleg and pressings books are great and really useful.

Seriously Rob? You mean ruining it for everyone except themselves? There was enough of the pie to go round before the price guides, so what do they do? Arm every man and his dog with the information it took us years to learn. The price guides are the worst thing ever to happen to the collecting scene.

Well taken on the chin though

It's very confusing. Someone asked the value of Doni Burdick - Open The Door To Your Heart the other night on Facebook, I said £50 to £75 but very hard to sell, which it is, John comes on and said he's sold 12 copies at £100 a time and needs another one. But this is the point - nobody else could get £100 for it I doubt, and he bases the price guide on the price that he has sold them for. So what's it worth, £75 or £100? This is just an example - there are records in the guide listed at £200, £300 which you couldn't get £50 for. I always think the best way to find a value is to look on here, on Popsike, on JM, on Discogs and then find the average price.

Think it's 1970

Yes you did, sorry. All came out on Goldmine Soul Supply 7 inch singles. So stick that in yer pipe and smoke it, oh ye who doesn't know as much as he thinks he does . (Lou Pride on other side of Bobby Hutton, Freddie Chavez on other side of Tempos)

There's only one I think - Towanda Barnes (though an alternate version was issued on Grapevine) I think all others have come out on a UK release.

Don't know, just that £125 to £150 is a pretty set price for this one. -

Good as in for the seller or buyer? It's not worth anymore than £150... -

I auctioned one of those Tamla Motown invitation singles on eBay a few years ago, can't remember what it went for exactly but didn't go above £50 I think. -

Spot on. Same time as You Sexy Sugar Plum and the like, great new releases. I still to this day have only seen the one white demo of this which I sold for something ridiculous like £20. Steve E will confirm. -
Sorry but he had his chance 2 days ago, he's shown no loyalty to you, so why should you show it for him - sell it to the other guy. He can't want it very badly if he hasn't been in touch for 2 days.
-
I never heard this played anywhere, ever, in fact I think I first heard it on either a Northern Soul Story LP or a CD. Great track though. £30 if anyone wants one.
-
I'd be f*cking ashamed and embarrassed to do that.
-
But with respect, and I know you're a straight up guy, that's not really the way to do business, depending on a sale of your own to be able to buy a record off someone else - if someone hasn't got the money, they shouldn't be reserving the record. And then you've got the few sad individuals who buy a record off you because it's on someone's wants list and they can make a profit - until that other person says they no longer want it, so they make up some pathetic excuse and send it back for a refund.
-
I only hold if it's someone who buys regularly from me and I know they'll pay. If someone asks about a record and doesn't get back to me after I've told them they can have it, I'll sell it to whoever asks for it next. I make this clear on my lists, that I won't reserve anything. If I'm going to buy a record off someone, I make sure I've got the money, and pay them immediately. Common courtesy.
-
I couldn't stand it back then - me and Paul (Mr C) detested it because it sounded so out of tune. Naturally, it went on to become one of my favourite records of all time.
-
Just not able to at the moment I'm afraid, it still keeps coming out with interference all over it

Not me

There's no white demo lookalike - you might be thinking of Jay D Martin maybe, that's on a Tower WD boot

I once had a copy of Little Joe Cook I'm Falling In Love With You Baby and it said JJ Records, someone crossed that out and wrote Hot records

Maybe the St Louis was a private pressing sold at the club they were resident at?
-
He has still got it. Says he's very disappointed now that it's only a second issue. Also says it has a date stamp on it - 1968 Re the dimples - it might go inwards but it comes out on the other side
-
Yes, definitely, and Doctor Love as well I think
