  1. Ha ha, I was just waiting for someone to ask me that before I changed it, someone always does...you win a special cd of Lorraine Silver's greatest hits As for The Sweethearts, ask Mick Smith how much he sells it for, bet he says the same as me. There's one on Ebay as we speak...
  2. I might get one if Prada do one
  3. Saw them in pantomime at the Wolvo Grand, 1970 I think...with Susan Maughan. Top qiality entertainment for a 10 year old.
  4. My God, I sell the Sweethearts for £40, it's not even rare! Sam & Dave came out on UK King I think, not even worth £20 on that label.
  5. If it's red and white Atlantic, it's a demo and it wasn't booted as a demo, only an issue - brilliant copy mind, missing the AT stamp
  6. I never left the scene and hand on heart I believe that 1974 -77 were the best years ever! I've never cared whether the artist was black white or purple, if I like a record then I like a record. Today I received The Magictones - How Can I Forget You (Wheelsville), I put on a tape and followed it with the fantastic Joannie Sommers Don't Pity Me...if I had to chose between the two, Joannie every time..
  7. Jamie - try Clownpat! p.s. he has some interesting video material too
  8. Er...I haven't got that !
  9. No probs, just thought it was strange
  10. Paul Anka is actually Chinese and Dean Parrish is an Aztec
  11. How do you know John & The Weirdest are black? Eh?
  12. how come you replied to my comment about Bari Track with a slagging off of Paul Weller - I never expressed an opinion on him!
  13. They are, thats what I was saying to Mick 'I Invented Northern Soul' Smith
  14. I Miss My Baby. But the instrumental is better than the vocal anyway
  15. It doesn't need any vocals - rest MY case
  16. How do you know two of Epitome are black? You can't possibly know that. The singer is white, the producer is white, they are from New Jersey and are American-Italian.
  17. Two words: BARI TRACK
  18. If you're talking about Northern Soul per se I don't think it matters and never have. Obviously records like Tim Tam are crap, but I just went through the first 50 of my own records and pulled out reflections - adam & eve epitome of sound - you don't love me embers - watch out girl adams apples - don't take it out john & the weirdest - can't get over freddie chavez - they'll never know why is john hendley black or white, dunno, but I love all of those records and have done since they were first played, in fact I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't like the Epitome Of Sound record. The soul police do their best to rule this scene with their black-or-nothing policies. Bollocks, I reserve the right to enjoy Paula Parfitt
  19. I think it's a bit sketchy at the moment but it seems he died in Peru, of a heart attack...got me thinking about all those records I used to have (most now on cd) - the clash, orange juice, joy division, josef k, devo, the brilliant Festive 50's and so on, and I'll never forget him playing Eddie Parker - Love You baby when it came out on Grapevine and he said after it "that was fantastic, more of the same please Grapevine". Plus you were always guarnteed a smattering of top class dub reggae every night.
  20. Not a soul post but I find that news really sad, an all round good bloke and far more influential on myself than the late Dave Godin...taught me a lot about music in the late 70's and early 80's and so much of my collection comes from his recommendations (non-soul obviously) RIP

    King Tutt

I remember a list I used to get in 87/88, I think it was Soul Stop records, they had that King Tutt record on every list for a year at £10, but not only that, they had the entire back stock of Rules by Gil Blanding, same price, and a couple of other things that are now considered rare. Of course I was sensible and bought multiple copies of Swinging Camels by Detroit Roadrunners
  22. I bought a Betty Turner off a Belgian guy a month back, it arrived within 4 days, top record and service - name was Patrick.Records - any of you remember the Belgian scam artist around 4 years ago who took loads of people for a ride - fortunately I sent my money registered and it was never signed for, so it was returned to me unopened!
  23. Billy, I don't know about the Della Reese being a 'rare issue' - there are no demos, they are all issues, like Ketty Lester - Some Things...
  24. Careful though, the demos have the other side on both sides...something about Columbus I think...
