Nobody will ever get that price for it, I couldn't sell it at £75 and reduced it to £70 the next day, I bought it off ebay for £50 two weeks ago.

I don't think Paula Parfitt will make the cut Dave

I don't know who number one is but I'd have hated to be around her when she had PMT going by the look on her face. Two and three no idea. Holding the mouse over four says Weldon so presuming Weldon McDougal. Last one has his name at the bottom LOL

Be helpful if we knew who they were!

Wigan Casino 6/2/81 5Th Oldies Anniversary Live Tape
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
I like Minnie The Moocher and Take Five. Think that's it. -
I thought that was a reasonable summing up!
-
I get the feeling that they are all out of copyright, must be a 50 year thing?
-
There are, but they weren't manufactured in the UK, they were done mainly in France I think and imported in as UK copies. Lots of copies of Heart Of Glass by Blondie were on styrene.

Wigan Casino 6/2/81 5Th Oldies Anniversary Live Tape
Pete S replied to Pete S's topic in All About the SOUL
I was with Phil one night on Wolverhampton station, waiting for the train to Wigan, and he gets out a replica pistol and shoots it, made a tremendous noise, 2 minutes later the platform was swarming with British Rail Police and they had him pinned on the floor and taken away in handcuffs. Mad b'stard. -

I agree with you, I like the Nina Simone record but can't really see why it was played. But as for jazz, it's like marmite isn't it, I obviously don't "get" it because most of it sounds like people tuning up. And I know there are many many strands of jazz going back to the 20's. I just happen to dislike all of them -

Please, stop it - he doesn't like jazz, that's his choice, I think the world would also be a better place if jazz hadn't been invented but so what! And the artists you quote are jazz influenced rather than jazz musicians. -
Nor me - but there was about 12 years back when it got booted again - maybe it's just one of those 'emergency' records for when the floor's flagging. Never liked it much myself..

See this lot at the link below - all are 3 cd sets, the Soul Sisters, Super 60's Soul etc, are all Motown and related recordings, there's another one too which had all the early Motown subsidiary tracks pre 1964 as well like Jimmy Ruffin Don't Feel Sorry For Me https://www.notnowmusic.com/genre/soul/where/format/3cd.html and as you can see, retail price is £7.99 but they are currently for sale in Sainsbury's for £3 per set. An incredible bargain.

Tony I sold an issue in 2006 for £400 and haven't seen another since. Demo I'd agree with £250

Four Tops album I Can't Help Myself on the 49p MFP label. Yes I know it's a 70's release but it's all 60's and is basically a reissue of "Second Album". Fantastic album with no filler.

Who - f*cking - cares.* *sorry thats not aimed at you, just at the ridiculousness of this thread and the whole original second press third press rubbish
-
This whole thread has been about trying to find out the truth about this kind of thing. Four pages of debate, what could be healthier than that? Running down prices - yes, when they are double or triple standard prices...Comedy Sale Of The Day...to point out idiots selling bootlegs for £100 etc, what's wrong with that? If you're not interested in open debate concerning records and their prices, why bother with Soul Source?
-
What utter, utter b*llocks. People have been giving well thought out theories on here which are just as credible as the one on the auction. Someone has to come up with these things in the first place, how do you know which version is correct, and what do you have to say about Ady Potts' third version? Get your head out of John Manship's arse.

I sold it Steve, sorry..
-
LOL I don't expect any...not spoken to Joe in ages...I just appreciate good lists

From Dave Welding (no access to PC at this moment) Regarding the recent Hopkins Brothers carver: Soul Junction Records, having purchased the masters and publishing outright from Mr Sylvester Hopkins, are now the outright owners of the tracks Shake Sherry and Kiss Of Fire. We contacted Mr Steve Jeffries in regard to the carver of these two tracks that he had for sale. Mr Jeffries assured us that this was a single copy item and that no more copies existed, and he would withdraw the item from sale, which he did. As far as we are concerned, that was the end of that matter. Regarding any other tracks that have appeared on carvers, we have no claim on any of those, but we are against the manufacture of any counterfeit or perceived counterfeit items. I hope this clarifies the matter to all. Dave Welding

I'll PM you

Dave hasn't said that any carvers of his stuff can be sold, in fact totally the opposite.
