  1. Just what I was thinking...
  2. It sounds from that as if you like seeing people look at your originals so you can feel superior to them and smug about having the record, I've got something that you haven't, my Dads bigger than your Dad etc. When I sold my UK Liberty Timi Yuro I played it off the Stardust pressing and I don't remember anyone complaining, they were just pleased to hear it at all, nobody came up to me and demanded I take it off because it wasn't an original. I can't think of one single record that I could get excited about having an original of now. I got practically every one I ever wanted and once the chase is over the excitement goes and they have to be sold on. Also the Stardust catalogue is good enough for anyone to be able to do a useful spot if the records are played in decent order.
  3. I never went to either but they were obviously both rubbish compared to Wigan
  4. What do you mean, it's a rare soul scene? The Champion, That Driving Beat, Mr Bang Bang Man, Breakout, Bobby Freeman, Younghearts and so on, pardon me but they aren't rare soul yet they get played everywhere round here. It's less than 50% a rare soul scene, most records played are easily obtainable.
  5. That is complete and utter rubbish and I'd love to know what you base that on. The last lot of boots which included Jackie Edwards, Channel 3, Charisma Band etc, I took 10 of each and still have half of them! There is not much interest at all. So let's see, I made about £250 selling those bootlegs but on last weeks list selling originals I made over £1000. Who is making money from bootlegs apart from the people who are making the records then?
  6. Sorry it's a big file, didn't know how to edit it. Sounds like someone's voice speeded up to me.
  7. Fair enough mate. I'm just imagining all those people at Goodyears dancing and thinking "I wonder if this copy of Breakout is an original or not'
  8. Shane please see my last reply, I have tried to explaina bit better and I apologise for going off on one a minute ago!
  9. Yes I agree with you but I can't help thinking that everyone is missing the point I'm trying to make and turning it into something else. I've got the utmost respect for dj's and collectors who have these great records but I'm just trying to say that Mr or Mrs Average do not really care about labels and originals - that's all I'm trying to say, honestly. For goodness sake, I must have had at least 5000 originals through my hands in the last few years including some incredibly rare items so I do understand, I'm just saying that it wouldn't bother me if I'd just gone somewhere to have a dance and enjoy myself. Can we put this to bed now?
  10. Punters - dj's - two totally different species, you can't make that analogy. Of course the dj's give a shit, I never said that, what I said was IN GENERAL, THE AVERAGE PUNTER DOES NOT CARE IF THE RECORD BEING PLAYED IS AN ORIGINAL OR A PRESSING surely nobody can deny that statement is true?
  11. Shane - I don't f*cking care, it's not important to me or the majority of people, 100,000 people dying in a tidal wave is important, my Nan having cancer is important, and me not having seen my daughter for 3 years is very important, but checking the colour of a label of a record at a soul night can surely only be important to sad people who need to get a life. Thats not just a reply to you, it's to all of you who put elitism over enjoyment.
  12. Go back over my last 10 lists and you tell me one single boot I have had for sale - apart from a couple of acetates I got cut for people to order - the answer is NONE. The last ones I had were from the batch that was done in October which practically everyone retailed. :graynone:
  13. Yeah but why? This is what I can't get my head round
  14. Precisely. I love collecting records as much as anyone, I started buying them in 1968...it's been the love of my life, but purely from a punters point of view, I wouldn't care if it was played off a reissue because it sounds exactly the same as an original. If I was a 'top dj' and had all these expensive sounds then maybe I would be pissed off that the guy before me played off a pressing but I'm not.
  15. Amen to that
  16. I emailed the seller and he replied "thank you for the non-abuse!" I must be slipping. He inherited the records and didn't know bootlegs existed, apparently.
  17. Like I said, dj's make up 2% of the people on the scene and they and maybe another 3% who give a toss about stuff like this...the rest of us go to enjoy themselves and dance to a sound on whatever label...and this is from me, who makes a living out of selling original vinyl. As for pressings being crap sound quality...which ones? I can tell you some that are better quality than the originals...Bari Track and Gwen Owens for a start
  18. Why?? Why cut off your nose to spite your face?
  19. Complete and utter bollocks. Same 20 dj's at every venue. Just kill off the northern scene why don't you? You lot take yourself so seriously, it's just MUSIC in the end, and it should be there to share. The bottom line is and always has been - the person on the dancefloor cannot see the label of the record and the majority don't care, they want to have a good time and dance. The only people bothered about originals being played are egotistical rich collectors who can't bear anyone else to have the same records as them. I could do an equally good set with my rag bag of a collection of originals, acetates and pressings than most of the people who do it regularly with £1000 records.
  20. British issue is more like £15 maximum - US copy £75 upwards
  21. I finally got through to the correctionasl facility in Muncy and spoke to their mail department who said they had not got my records (!) and that Kimberley Burkins (the prisoner who sent the tv and dressing gown and slippers) was "no longer an inmate there" and had probably given these items away as she didn't have any use for them anymore "got some good news and some bad news...the bad news is, you're gonna die, the good news is, we've found a buyer for your dressing gown and slippers"
  22. That delta number dates it to 2015! p.s. I've shagged her
  23. the wonders of not being able to spell surgery
  24. That's a side effect of taking e's, you want to watch it, it works in reverse for women
  25. Yes, searched for "Bull Dykes" and got 'no results'
