I think Bari Track is way more soulful than The Panic Is On. In fact, I don't think Panic Is On is a soul record at all to be honest. It's a great track but it's uptown pop music.
I just used to stick a 4 hour tape in the video, put it on long play and record 8 hours of the reggae station, then record off the tape straight onto tape/cd/minidisc whatever.
I sort of know this guy, I'll tell you his name when I remember it, without wanting to sound rude I think he may be a bit dyslexic because a lot of his descriptions make no sense at all
"THE IS THE ORIGIALN WAYLE AND NOT AN A WAYLA DJ COPY VG+"
anyway what he seems to do is just buy any expensive record he can find and then relist it a few weeks later. I bought a "wrong girl" off him advertised as mint and it was more like ex- but apart from that, he's ok.
I don't understand that scan - one is a demo and one is an issue!
I never buy issues of this record, it's the hardest of all to tell. It was booted in both styrene and vinyl. Always best to buy a white demo.
Because I scared him off.
No, actually because he thinks most of what is spoken is a load of rubbish and he gets angry reading stuff written by people who haven't been on the scene for at least 30 years
Honestly. Anyway, he's off away somewhere again at the moment.
I'll do you one if you want.
On the subject of lp's being cut down - chap from round here, Swoz, had the Kiki Dee album on UK Tamla Motown and the last or last but one track was a version of More Today Than Yesterday - he had that cut down to a 7".
Sounds better when you convert it to mono and put it on a 7" though ... Rufus Lumley died last year and his widow wrote to me asking if I could get hold of his records for her, sad isn't it when the family don't even have them...all she had was a rubbish RCA single. I said she could have my Stateside demo of I'm Standing for $500 but for some reason she never got back in touch
Jas, one of your very few misinformed postings. OOTP released some of the best records ever played on the scene, from Jerry Williams to Chubby Checker. Around 50 releases and maybe only 5 or 6 duff ones among them.
Patti Young, Invitations, Rufus Lumley, Lynne Randell, Rat Race, Ben Aiken, well basically the entire Torch playlist.
Jo, I know a man who ran the UK Supremes fan club in the 60's...he met them and many of the others, I've seen the photos...he has loads of memorabilia and that...I'm sure he'd be delighted to help. Any use to you, let me know and I'll put you in touch, you'll like him, he's gay
