  1. I think a lot of these records don't stand up in the cold light of day - but when you used to hear them played out, loud, they took on a different guise altogether. I mean, you couldn't listen to something like Broadway Cissy at home because it's a mess and doesn't make sense, but at Wigan it sounded incredible..
  2. Yes but only about 5% of the people even like this so called 70's northern. The other 95% don't like it so why can't they just play 5% of it per night? Sounds sensible to me, oh yes it does
  3. Been down the pub on the way home have we? Shandy, they ought to ban it...
  4. Well what are you doing now you gravydribbling joey???
  5. Yeah I love it but hand on heart I had no idea it had been played as 'northern', I have it as a garage punk record and one of the best, especially the organ solo must be a Russ spin! But yes, great record, not a northern sound though
  6. Brilliant instrumental!
  7. Carstairs - It really hurts me girl Larry Houston - Lets' spend some time together Tolbert - I got it Mike McDonald - God knows
  8. I didn't bring it up, I'm allowed to join in aren't I???
  9. The instrumental is on the back of the latest bootleg version of it, which is a different take to the one that's on official cd! Also, bit daft calling it Baby Have Mercy On Me, they don't appear to sing that at all. But I've seen the disc, it was originally printed in the very rare Simon Soussan price guide
  10. Quite the opposite, I like Ian levine, I just always hated this record. I think I'm the only person I know who admits to not liking it.
  11. (Little Britain voice) "Yeah I know"
  12. Carstairs is one of the worst records ever played on the scene
  13. Hey thats my line Just for the record, I know you think I'm a retard and that may be so but it's not that I'm against modern and new soul music, I'm just against it being played at Northern Soul venues, that's all. Have been since about 1978.
  14. What, better than I Wanna Know by John E Paul ????
  15. We wouldn't have had to put up with listening to that crap for the last 25 years
  16. "If they only get played upstairs, peoples knowledge will never expand." You couldn't get more patronising than that if you tried. It's like censorship in the old days, you wouldn't be allowed to watch or read something because you wouldn't understand it and it could corrupt you but the upper classes on the board of censors could watch and read them because they are above all that and they wouldn't be affected like the common oik. What makes you think people want to be preached at when all they want to hear is northern soul? If I went to a 60's room and heard that crap despite the fact there was a modern room, I would complain and everyone else should as well. I know what good music sounds liker and I don't need anybody to try to expand my knowledge thank you, I can think for myself.
  17. Steve - no way was it aimed at you, I have no idea who you support! It was aimed at the pikeys. My team ain't won any trophies for years mate...Wolves...
  18. No, severe DVD stress!
  19. I was referring to both Sheffield 'teams', Wednesday are has beens and United are never will be's, but anyway, it's a matter of fact that all threads are taken off topic by supporters of either of these two teams, so they should all be suspended
  20. The trouble is, if you're gonna have a name and shame topic, people have to be named. Why would the guy make that up? Maybe it should just be overseas sellers? Like the Van Noys from Mississippi who ripped me off recently.
  21. Oh come off it Ged - White Plains was never played, how could it have, it was in the top 20 in 1970 or thereabouts. Elusive sounded great blasted out. Petula Clark...oh dear
  22. It's always the Sheffield mob who take interesting subjects off topic. You've never won f*ck all
