  1. Maybe you needed to be there when it was spun for the first time, the three or four weeks before it got pressed. It's not even one of my top 100 but to say it's boring, you lot have got a f*cking screw loose, what exactly do you want from your Northern Soul records?
  2. You're going to have to apply that to every Motown record then.
  3. Yee-haw, we agree on something at last! Tobi Bowe
  4. Yeah it's featured in the film The Five Heartbeats (available from me for a pittance) and a few people had discs cut taken from that soundtrack. 1991 or 1992.
  5. Lennon & McCartney
  6. Take a listen to Frank Wilson and imagine you've never heard it before....it'll sound like the best record ever made...it's utterly brilliant as a northern soul record
  7. Any of the MGM dancers from 73-75 on the blue and gold label are legitimate reissues; Dottie Cambridge, Velours, Robert Banks, Clara Ward.
  8. Can't agree with you Sebastian, originals are actually quite rare and should sell for £40-£50
  9. undoubtedly one of the best records I've ever heard
  10. I definitely prefer Johnny Was by Stiff Little Fingers to this one anyday
  11. Antellects - Love slave total and utter overrated nonsense
  12. OK now look at the track listing, what's wrong with that, I think it's a pretty good cd on the whole BUT not exactly value for money...remember 30 trackers?? 1. I'm Waiting - Bush, Bill 2. Love Slave - Antellects 3. Just Like You Did Me - Vernee, Yvonne 4. I Have A Girl - Magnetics 6. You've Been Away - Rubin 7. If This Is Love - Spencer, Eddie 9. You Left Me - Admirations 10. Get It Off Of My Conscience - Lovelites 11. Anything I Can Do - Collins, Will 13. She'll Come Running Back - Britt, Mel 14. Bygones - Bull 15. Sittin' In My Class - McNeir, Ronnie 16. My Baby Came From Out Of Nowhere - Hendley, Johnny 17. What More Do You Want - Toones, Gene 19. Room Full Of Tears - Gilliam, Johnny 20. When You Lose The One You Love - Smith, Buddy
  13. Yeah but he might have kept going for the nostalgia trip...I've always meant to go back one day
  14. Doesn't surprise me. Cloth ears.
  15. Teri Goodnight - They didn't know Romance Watson - Where does that leave me George "Earplugs" Lemmons - Fascinating girl Billy Arnell - Tough girl not sure how anyone can dislike Lady In Green mind...or Bob & Fred now The Carstairs, that's a tune to hate
  16. Are you having a dizzy spell Billy or something? Landslide on original is worth £30 tops. Sam & Kitty £40. The Fury's isn't even on Mirwood, it's on Keymen.
  17. I disagree - I think it's very inventive. As NS, yes it is rubbish but you've got to admit it's clever. That's off one of the cut up/bootleg sites I think (if it's not, I apologise)
  18. Dave, I remember once coming across a website which was basically a booking agency for 'oldies' artists and there were tons of soul acts on there, unfortunately I can only remember Little Anthony and I can't remember the site, but what I was going to suggest is try searching for a few booking agency sites and you might well find someone.
  19. I'll try and take a photo of the Soul label cos it's very nice looking. They all seem to be black with silver writing but I've got one that's white with Soul in red, looks superb.
  20. I've posted up about 10 remixes and some of them were really good, using "The Amazing Slow Downer" which is a program you should be able to find on the net - change the pitch of both the voice and or the backing track. Maybe slightly pointless but good fun.
  21. No offence Kooreman but do you actually know what Northern Soul is??? It ain't The Gap Band...
