Not paranoid, there's proof all over the site

It's like watching your football team who one minute are league champions then they slide down the divisions ending up bottom of thepile. Thats what I feel when I watch the history of soul music. I'm also a bit concerned that you seem to note everything I ever post on here and come back with some cuntish reply about how your tastes are far superior to mine. I always wondered what it would like to have a stalker, now I've got two!

The Four Tops were the first live act I ever saw, 1971 at the Wolverhampton Gaumont. My auntie gave me the tickets as she couldn't go. Concerts were a bit weird in those days, whenever anyone got up to try to dance, the security would make them sit down, so you had the Tops asking people to get up and dance and at the same time, bouncers saying the opposite. Anyway I never forgot that concert. Best wishes to Obie.

I'd never had a yellow one before the one I had earlier this year....great record
-
All I gained from this episode is that funk is shit. It got to Parliament and I switched it off. It's like watcxhing a series about the development of Jamaican music....mento, r&b, ska, rocksteady, reggae but then you get to 1970 and it' goes all rootsy and the tv goes off.

This is supposed to be about Northern Soul guru's and Dave Godin's era was in the late 60's early 70's, if you'd asked him for his top 10 Stafford sounds he'd have probably asked you what went on at Stafford. Just because someone knows a few big words doesn't make them a GURU.
-
No, carry on, it's very interesting, even if it doesn't make sense.

I've never ever seen one decent Soul Sam playlist and that's going back to 1974.
-
This topic needs to be closed now that everyone is starting to vote for their best mates. Even Mark's logic in including the Soul Harmony book author is blurred; that book is absolutely choc-full of mistakes, I have spotted these, should I be in the top 10 or what? Soul Sam in the top 10 northern soul guru's of all time? Don't make me laugh. Tim Brown above John Anderson? Remus making a posting not relying on sarcasm and him thinking he's fucking hilarious? Don't make me laugh. This is all a load of bollocks and an exercise in ego massaging.
-
I don't know who numbers 1 & 7 are. I would definitely keep Dave Flynn in there, he knows more about records and labels than anyone I've ever known.
-
I'd put Ian Levine in and take Soul Sam out. You ask Levine a question about an artist and he'll tell you what they were wearing on the day they cut the track.

Just sold Midnight for £70 and only one taker...

Do Soul Nights Only Work Properly At Weekends?
Pete S replied to Craig W's topic in All About the SOUL
There used to be loads of midweek soul nights round by us, the most famous probably Thursday's at Halesowen Tiffanies - big name dj's of the time as well. I'd love to go to or do a midweek session. People have so much to do nowadays though that soul is only part of it so I'd guess it would be tough to make people leave their armchairs on a sunday night. -
Yes, you know your place alright
-
The problem with London is that it will always be in the South and never in the North
-
At least with dvd's you can record them so they are region free. Debbie Does Dallas is a really really bad film Steve but I'm sure you already know that
-
Correct. It was then though. I paid that for it.

Launch Of New Monthly Northern Soul Sales List
Pete S replied to Kev Connellan's topic in Record Sales
I actually invented email only lists. First dealer to have a website. First to send lists by email only. First to have sound clips and scans. First to do cd's. First to do mp3's. First to do dvd's. All the rest just copied me. So why are they all rich and I'm poor?
