  3. I think the Santa Ponsa may actually be a remake of the CBS one. £25 on CBS, minimal value on Santa Ponsa. Mock it if you like but it's certainly better than Ray Whitleys's original. Delroy Wilson's is the best, obviously
  4. Oo-er, I think I may have done the sleeve notes for those...and helped compile them...but there was only the labels Pye and Piccadilly to select from!
  5. Don't know if anyone's interested but I've put nearly 100 things up today - northern and ska/reggae mainly, oh and one Black Sabbath single https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZmayfairmenthol cheers Pete
  6. I see, so it's better than Darrell Banks, John & The Weirdest, Emanuel Laskey, Cashmeres etc etc etc
  7. This guy taught George lemmons how to sing

  9. Anyone who REALLY likes Girl Group sounds ought to try and get hold of a series put out by the Belgian label Marginal in the 90's - Girls Girls Girls. There are at least 11 volumes, maybe more, they weren't around for long and to be honest, I never saw another set apart from mine. Material ranges from Northern to pocorn, teenage angst stuff, out and out 60's pop, but all in all a brilliant set and I found some cracking northern things on these and compiled them way before they got any official release (if any did!)
  10. That's great - chorus lets it down a bit - but that made the Finnish top 10, would love to see that sort of thing in charts.
  11. There's bugger all to complain about there - the Monique track is worth the price on it's own plus Sharon Soul, Passionettes, Argie & The ARkettes (phenomenal record), Thelma Lindsay, Lovelles, Wonderettes...it's a pretty good cd - 7 out of 10 anyway
  12. >>> hmmm <<<
  13. LP only isn't it?
  14. £50 is a more sensible price...
  15. No, Richard is right, Blue Beat was just the name given to the music until reggae took over - I've got a Pama album which advertises the comment as Ska-Reggea (note spelling!)- Blue Beat. That Jack Sparrow record is very rare, it came out on Doctor Bird and has a tremendous Skatalites track on the other side. Singer is Leonard Dillon of The Ethiopians.
  16. That's actually Charlie Organaire, most of his records came out on King Edwards so I should think it's quite scarce, I've never had it. Generally, Blue Beats up to 1965 aren't worth a lot (a few exceptions), it's the late 65 to when it changed to Fab in 67 that are worth money as they sold a lot fewer copies.
  17. Sorry for the delay in replying to this, only just saw it, someone had offered me £20 for it though so, y'know...
  18. Sounds right up my street Rach
  19. Don't need to, already know it from long long ago - but thanks anyway
  20. This England had no effect on the scene whatsoever, I was going every week at that time incuding the two weekends they filmed and there were very very few sightseers after the program was shown, you're probably thinking of Footsee/The Javells/Top Of The Pops period when there was a massive influx of sightseers.

  23. I would have sold it by set sale mate, I only auction records if a) they aren't mine and if I have no idea of the price. The last one of these I had, I sold for £175 to Mick Smith, he got £300 for it about 2 weeks later I think. I'd ask £400 now.
