Hello!
Back with another mini-list of this weeks arrivals, plus the remainder of last weeks list are reduced at the bottom of the page. Please have confidence in my gradings, I describe everything as honestly and as accurately as is possible, there is no point in me saying a record is better than it is!
Cheers
Pete
In no particular order...
JACKYE OWENS - YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING AWFULLY GOOD - JACKLYN DEMO EX 25
Brilliant girlie stomper, Bert Keyes arranged
FREDDIE GORMAN - THE DAY WILL COME - MIRACLE VG- 30
Excellent early Motown dancer - looks rough, plays way better than my grade - books 75.00
ELLAINE & THE SHARDELLS - TELL ME THAT YOU CARE - MUSIC FORUM VG 25
This is ultra-obscure, it's an uptempo girl group sound, wouldn't say really Northern but if you like those early 60's girls you'll love this...can't find anything out about it whatsoever except it appeared on a compilation called Girls In The Garage Volume 6!
THE CARLETTS - I'M GETTING TIRED / LOST WITHOUT YOUR LOVE - CAPITOL EX sold
Never seen a copy of this - ever. Brilliant double sider. Books 200 quid.
JIMMY BEAUMONT - YOU GOT TOO MUCH GOING FOR YOU / I NEVER LOVVED HER ANYWAY - BANG M- sold
Practically new copy - awesome double sider - nice issue
THE PRESENT - MANYS THE SLIP - PHILIPS VG+ 25
Classic oldie - plays great
LIZA SMITH - I WANNA LOVE YOU - BIG TOP VG+ 20
Bought this blind as it's published by Vicki Music aka Duke Browner. It's an early 60's r&b dancer, big voiced lady.
LINDA & THE PRETENDERS - BELIEVE ME - ASSAULT VG++ 500
Beautiful girl vocal, possibly the first ever Shrine record in all but name. Slight edge warp not affecting play, otherwise a very strong VG++, and pressed on vinyl.
THE MOOD MOSAIC - A TOUCH OF VELVET A STING OF BRASS - CAPITOL EX- 20
Sounds strange but I didn't know this even came out in the US! Dated May 12th 1966.
DIAN JAMES - SOME KINDA WONDERFUL - GROOVE DEMO M- 20
Not the Soul Brothers Six number - this is a huge beat ballad.
DAVID RUFFIN - ONE OF THESE DAYS - ANNA VG 30
Very early Motown subsidiary...uptempo early dancer with nice group type flip
J.J. BARNES - THESE CHAINS OF LOVE - MICKAYS EX- 25
Nice early Detroit dancer, pink/black label, Mike Hanks production
GINA MARIE & THE SKAT KATS - SOURCE OF LOVE - SNAP EX- 25
Nice clip-clop girl group sound
LITTLE ROSE LITTLE - YOU'VE GOT THE LOVE - ROULETTE VG+ 20
Belting dancer
LINDA JONES - I JUST CAN'T LIVE MY LIFE - WARNER BROS VG 90
Looks rough plays absolutely superb, writing on label and a bit of wear but this is half price and a bargain - trust me, sound quality is superb
REDUCED STUFF FROM LAST LIST
THE PEPS - DETROIT MICHIGAN - D-TOWN G 20
Oh dear, a record which has never seen a sleeve in it's life - books at £100 to £150 - plays alright but obviously covered in small scratches, crackles etc
DONNIE CARL & THE DONNELLS - IT HAPPENED TO ME - TY TEX VG 15
Pretty good R&B ish dancer
JOSH WHITE JR - I CAN'T RUN AWAY - MERCURY DEMO EX 15
Have to admit both sides unknown to me and the guy is obviously a country singer - but good beat ballad one side and dancer on the other, in both price guides at £50 so what do I know
VAL MARTINEZ - SOMEONE'S GONNA CRY - RCA EX 30
This is the original early 60's version and it's brilliant! Can't believe nobody's bought this yet!
LYNN SOBEY - WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR LOVE / YOU'LL KNOW I'M AROUND - ABC DEMO
Two really nice late 60's sides M 15
SUE DARBY - CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOU BABY - ABC DEMO EX 10
Good version of The Toys
WANDA WILLIAMS - I'VE GOT A SECRET - FOREST GREEN VG++ 10
