  1. Definitely should be in the soul snob thread but absolutely stunned to see you nominate this record. Mick Smith will take you off his Xmas card list, it's his all time favourite
  2. testing how to rip audio from dvd - did this version of Joanie Sommers, singing live over the backing track, I'll do Barbara McNair in a minute with the sensational live version of YGLMB. Didn't know which section to put this in. see two posts down for smaller version to download
  3. I've only ever seen one copy of this record ever - Mick Smith robbed me of it If I had the spare cash I'd buy it but meanwhile I reckon this is a very good investment https://cgi.ebay.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-JOCK-MIT...1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. You know all this fuss about the Oxford Knights 45, people saying it's a boot or it isn't a boot...well most of them come from *** ******* right? Well I have the reissues of this, and Moses Dillard, Joe Tex, and they clearly have Licensed from Ripete Records USA on the labels. Yet Mr ******* bought one off me and asked if I had any other Ripete titles...but didn't someone say he worked for them or owned them or something? I'm a bit confused.
  5. This isn't everything but it's as far as I've got, if anyone wants anything before the list goes out officially, shout up. 6. Wrong. First bootleg was a crappy styrene one with poor sound quality and no attempt to replicate the label design. It was done again a couple of years later in a very very good lookalike form, on vinyl, first time I saw one I thought it was real, and interestingly whoever booted them actually drew black X's on them in marker pen to make them look more authentic.
  7. No, I don't keep records anymore, I just sell them, but I've had the yellow demo and the black issue. My honest opinion is that they are all overpriced, but what isn't these days!
  8. I'd just like to say that every record ever made is great
  9. Not quite sure what the point is, are you trying to turn this into a playschool? These are grown up lads who don't usually mind if you tell them that modern soul is crap, they just laugh it off and give it back. How can you offend someone by saying you don't like a record?
  10. Yeah why are you writing in text/chavspeak?
  11. Does anyone think that this might not be an original?
  12. Steve if you think about this properly you will remember that this was played for 3 weeks tops at Wigan before it was booted so it's one of those blink or you'll miss it records which shouldn't really be branded a Wigan 'classic'. Anyway it was a Yate record. But I'm not saying it's no good, it's a great record, and I've only had one copy ever!
  13. Exactly. If everyone had the same opinion and we all have to pussyfoot around being nice to each other and agreeing all the time, it defeats the object of having a discussion list.
  14. Does that mean everybody's got to like it now and triple the price?
  15. It was going to be £60 actually...like, what it's actually worth
  16. It's not rare in the slightest, it used to be as common as Cody Black on Ram-Brock and regularly came as a filler in soul packs in the 90's
  17. I bought a thousand 45's blind yesterday - labels looked interesting but don't have any titles - that's the gamble you have to take. Took every penny I'd got as well, so it's make or break timee.
  18. and I'd better double what I was gonna ask for mine next week!
  19. It was very hard to find out when the actual close date was...I got an email saying 'keep bidding' so they were using the method where any bid extends the time, but I thought the rules weren't explained very well to be honest. Charging that amout for one single is outrageous and I don't blame you for not paying it. They shouldn't be allowed to advertise on the site if they are going to rip people off.
  20. Gospel A Go Go, a likely story But what a fantastic record. Why shouldn't this be played out, you can't get much more soulful than this.
  21. Pete S

    Ebay Prat?

Yes it is. How come none of us know this chap?
  22. Allelujah!!!! p.s. I don't miss Remus
  23. See when I hear that record I don't cover my ears and start screaming "nooooooo!!!!!", I immediately think of hearing it at Wigan at 3 in the morning and it sounding great, and dancing to it, and seeing everyone else dancing to it, so therefore I equate it with a happy time in my life. I don't think, wow this must have been recorded in London with several white session men all of whom had beards and long sideburns, it would have been better if it was by a black girl from the projects in Detroit. Paula Parfitt now lives in Greece by the way.
