How Many "scene's" Are Cover By The "northern Soul" Tag ?
Pete S replied to Rob Wigley's topic in All About the SOUL
It would be interesting to see a poll - if you were a straight down the centre Northern Soul fan, which other variety would you most like to hear if you had to pick one - "modern" and all it's offshoots, or "r & b" ditto. 100% hands down choice would be r & b for me. -
How Many "scene's" Are Cover By The "northern Soul" Tag ?
Pete S replied to Rob Wigley's topic in All About the SOUL
Nobody is ever going to agree. I wouldn't go anywhere that played modern or crossover or 70's/80's whatever because it isn't Northern Soul in my opinion but it obviously is in other people's opinions. Why, I have no idea. I want to hear midtempo and uptempo 60's soul music. End of. And what really does my head in is when people tell me to "open my ears" and stop being a dinosaur...why? I don't expect to hear punk music or country when I go to a northern do so why should I have to listen to stuff that isn't Northern Soul? -
Personally I'd just email and ask him why the postage is so high and why it wasn't mentioned. If you don't get a satisfactory answer tell him you aren't prepared to pay that amount, a cd should cost no more than $4 to post airmail. Then if threatens you with negative feedback, tell him you'll recipricate and you will also be contacting ebay for 'advice'. I got charged $12 post for a cd recently, I did pay it, it arrived in a jiffy bag with something like 2 euros postage if that, the wrong address as well. Seller was a twat so I reported him to Ebay for selling Bowie and Beatles bootlegs no longer a registered user

Not bad at all, doesn't really go anywhere though...came out on UK Pye in 69.

Well it looks like he's trying to escape Ali, we know he weighs 6.5 pounds and has 3 weeks left but we've had to go to hospital a couple of times this week, they don't tell us much to be honest but fingers crossed everything is ok. Still not got a name though!
-
Are you having a laugh Wendy? It's got everything. Awesome record.
-
Well maybe not brand new but it's the first time I've been sent it - you get an email from Ebay saying your bid on an item has been cancelled, anyway it tells you to click on a link to see the reason why and you have to log in with user name and password...

You're referring to the 1976 reissue, that was legit, and it's a good lookalike but has a white ring running round the outer edge of the label. I've sold this for £20 in the past, before it was pressed again 3 years back. Why would anyone would pay £50 for it, I sell pressings at a third of his prices and can't shift them. The more recent one is almost certainly a boot.
-
Got a pressing...
-
Steve, here's a coincidence, I bought some pressings out of Discount Disc in Stoke yesterday, one was the Dushons, in the run off it has scratched into it "S.Plumb". Wonder where thats been kicking about for the last few decades? p.s. it's got styrene burn on it
-
Good for Ohiogarage I say...needs more people like that to stand up to the con men
-
Yeah you're right, any coloured label of Edward Hamilton is real. Should get £125-£150 for it. Can't believe anyone would pay £150 for the Tempos though, I'd sell it for £50-£60.

No mate if you read the first post it says I picked one up yesterday. Not my sort of record really
-
Yep. Help Me Find My Way (Lonely Man) was an absolute anthem at our youth club.
-
They were successful, had a few big hits in the States, probably no airplay over here so no hits - got them on dvd doing a couple of songs.
-
There's loads and loads of mint British records around and they are still being discovered. Applaud some nutcase who paid 4 times too much for a record? You're on your own there.
-
Has anyone ever seen this record? I picked up a pressing of it today, it's the first one I've ever seen. I don't remember seeing it when it was pressed, probably because I don't think it had been played anywhere except the East Coast. I've certainly never seen an original. Was just wondering what price to put on the pressing? I don't subscribe to this "pressings are rare now" and I sell most for £5 each but I'll definitely have to ask more on this one.

Would help if we could hear it -
You should get a decent amount for the Ace Kefford Stand 45

Was talking to Mick Smith last night about this, I said I'd have sold it for £150-£175 maximum, he said he'd have sold it for £150...
-
Oi Pottsy, I clicked on this thinking that there were records for sale when in fact they are records for AUCTION
-
If those are UK releases you'll find anything worth more than I think it's £12 for an album, in the Record Collector Price Guide.
