  1. I have an absolutely fantastic pre-Ziggy In Concert recording from that series, one of the best bootlegs I've ever heard.
  2. Agreed, terrible record, has not stood the test of time, but I didn't like it at the time either
  3. Probably in prison for kiddie fiddling
  4. I posted this 10 years ago but it's long since vanished from the internet MIKE RAVEN’S R & B SHOW, RADIO ONE, 1971 Here's a very rare chance to hear what for many people was an essential part of their education and introduction to Soul Music. Mike Raven's R & B show ran for 4 years on Radio One, from 1967 onwards. For most, this was the only way to hear new soul releases at the time. His style sounds somewhat laidback nowadays, but the music is great. Sadly, this is the only recording I have with Mike's dj-ing intact, it's edited out of all others. Records he plays include tracks from The Fiestas, Soul Children, Bobby Byrd, Al Green and even a Radio One spin for Richard Temple's That Beatin' Rhythm, then a new release on the Jay Boy label. Mike went on to become an actor in horror films, and passed away in 1997. Hope you enjoy this classic archive recording, converted from reel to reel tape. Many thanks to Colin for the original recordings back in the 90's. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/mike-raven-r-b-show-bbc-radio-one-1971/

  6. Thats what I was thinking...
  7. In the case of Sheila Anthony, I absolutely agree with you, something not right there on Ebay
  8. So diabetes then. It was Brazil, not Mexico that I saw the footage of him. Apparently thats when they realised something wasn't quite right. The ludicrous thing though, while he rotted away in a partly built house in poverty in Jamaica, his records from 1968 to 1970 often sell for over £100 a time...Kingstonians sales on Ebay for just one year must be over £5000
  9. THE CHANTERS - WHAT ARE YOU DOIN' / HEAVENLY YOU - SSP SOUL SOUND RECORDS Am told a copy with labels on wrong way round in VG+ went for over £1000! This one is a strong EX and plays as new. Former Primers cover up with sweet soul/harmony B side. Offers over £500 if interested. Thanks, I'll post a photo later
  10. Definitely 1975 spin Eddie, Pep played it all the time
  11. Let's see who the first person on this site to put up a copy for sale at £100+ is, quoting it's auction price... £30 record all day all year
  12. Unbelievable price considering I couldn't get £500 for one a couple of years back for a customer.
  13. I posted up about 45 minutes of a Mike Raven show up a few years back...
  14. It's a bit tougher than that George, about £350 - £400 I got for one I think, ages ago
  15. I knew it!
  16. Don't know what happened to jackie Bernard, 2 years ago there was great footage of him playing at Reggae events in Mexico, interviews, the lot - did he die of cancer?
  17. Sorry, did it say "To"?
  18. Sorry but just didn't think the world needs a Northern covers band, thats all
  19. Fucking hell Phil, are you the new me? I recommend Prozac. Grumpy git
  20. I'd shut the curtains if they were playing in my garden
  21. He won't know what a carver is though!
  22. There's no bootleg that looks like that Steve - anyway that number in the run off will tell you the year
  23. It was - on vinyl
  24. Can I just get this in first before the auctions ends - Broadways - You Just Don't Know - MGM £30 record currently at £175
  25. I sold a cracked one for £500
