  2. or...HOW TO EMPTY A ROOM IN 10 SECONDS....
  3. It beats me how anyone can like this version, it's utter CRAP
  4. Someone asked me about this last night and that's 3 or 4 times I've been asked about it, so I've found it again and you can read it at this link, it's all true by the way. The funniest bit is gashers photo of a woman in prison, look in the bottom left hand corner of the photo /index.p...wtopic=4969&hl=
  5. Just for you then...
  6. Yes Andy sent it me, but he says he's lost the cleaned up version!
  7. Yeah I thought this was a very very strange take because it bears such little resemblence to the original, and sounds a couple of years later too. It gets better, but I don't want whoever owns the acetate to have a fit so I only put a minute on.
  8. How old were New Edition? And what about Rocking Foetus McGinty, not even born when he had his first number one.
  9. Thats bizarre Simsy, cos I think thats about as far removed from a soul instrumental as you can get - probably due to the fuzz guitars on the intro. I like the chime bars and that but the intro ruins it. Oh and it's a great dancer.
  10. Very poor. I'm only going to leave this up for an hour then I'm deleting it ok. deleted
  11. Can I just say - at the end of the day, I put these tracks up just because as far as I know, they are unavailable to the majority of people and I don't like that! So it's nice to be able to share things. BUT I must stress that I don't put them up saying they are the greatest tracks ever made, they are just sound clips of interesting tracks. So I don't have to justify them to anybody, therefore when people quote my 'only good modern soul' tag as an argument about this particular track, it gets my back up a bit to be honest. At least two people said thanks anyway there's another one on the way in a minute
  12. The soul / northern soul thing applies to literally hundreds of records though, as we have debated many times...
  13. I was doing it as an email list way before the website mate, but don't give me credit for anything, it can't possibly be true
  14. Sister lee is great - but the backing track to it is terrible. have you heard yourself???
  15. It's true Mark, think what you like. 1997.
  16. I was the first person to sell northern soul excusively on the internet, that is a fact, and I could name you two very well known dealers who told me I was mental for stopping doing paper lists. 18 months later they both had websites.
  17. yeah I've got one for £15, actually reduced it to £10 and it sold...woo hoo!
  18. Ah...but great as it is, I don't think it's a 'soul' record...you know, like Wade In The Water is a soul instrumental. Northern Soul, no doubt about it. Frantic Escape is another great soul instrumental.
  19. I can't help you but I'd love to hear any version other than LA, DD, MR and RW. What a brilliant song this is...I like all the versions. Robin Wilson used to be massive at St.Giles (Sammies) allnighters back in 75, for the people who couldn't get hold of Little Anthony's version.
  20. I apologise
  21. You ought to have that printed on a t shirt cos you say it every time we talk about instrumentals I didn't even know there was a vocal to Exus Trek til the mid 80's! By the way, Bari Track is better than I Miss My Baby as well. Ten times better. IMMB is good, but it's better as an inst.
  22. The vocals on If Its All The Same To You ruin a damn good instrumental. And don't bother with the poll, it's always the same people who bother joining in
  23. Good point Rach. In fact, I am the pride of Wolverhampton, as is banks beer.
  24. Dan...Ben E King once asked the question "What is soul", and the reply he got was "Soul is Bari Track you deaf git"
