  1. I can't believe you found a clip of a woodlouse!
  2. Not sure mate, but I would think definitely too early to be on a 12" first time. The first I remember seeing were "Salsoul 2001" and "Cathedrals". Still quite like that last one.
  3. Yes, click the link mate https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Almeta_Latt..._Mainstream.ram
  4. I have no soul as I find this an absolute dirge and would get more excited listening to the mating cry of a woodlouse It's shite.
  5. Trans Global Unity Express I think it was called. Total rip off of So Is The Sun and they should have sued. The Style Council did a really good 60's pastiche with Sold Bond In Your Heart. As for this one, quite pleasant but only northern in the sense that Edwyn Collins' A Girl Like You is Northern.
  6. I found as much crap as I could and put it all online in an ebay store, mainly viny, a few dvd's, not just soul...have a look if you've nothing better to do https://stores.ebay.co.uk/PETE-SMITHS-PLANE...Q3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm
  7. Jo, there wasn't one - was there?? Came out in 75 and no 12" in the Uk til 76??
  8. Who wants to come into business with me selling copies of Night Owl? Sell them for £50 apiece, thats half price, we'd clear up!
  9. How many singles did he have on cameo?? Surely not as many as are in that picture?
  10. That was f*cking awful Ken and I usually like the sounds you send up, apart from the shit ones...
  11. The wrong version. Every reissue, on cd or vinyl, has the wrong version on because they lost the master tapes. Kev Roberts said when they were compiling UK soul vol 2, the tapes were missing from Abbey Road. At the same time, the version they put on the cd of Barry St John - Everything I touch turns to tears - was an alternate take, previously unissued (and way inferior) but they didn't know...
  12. The one that you have called "Italian" is the proper version or rather the version that used to be played and if you can't tell the difference between that and the german one then your speakers must be up the spout. I had an Italian one in a picture sleeve and I can guarantee you 100% that it was the one you call the German one, the weedy mix. In fact I sold it to Anglo American and they returned it as they said it wasn't the right one.
  13. When that was pressed in 76, they put the wrong version out - the 'bongo' version - then in early 77 they put the right version out with an instrumental version on the back. I don't like that first version, it's very lacklustre.
  14. Can I just add that we've done this exact thread before, trying to find just ONE record that everyone could agree on was a uniting Northern Soul record, it went on for about 5 pages and I still can't remember what actually won it..
  15. First came across Is It All Gone in 76 when I used to by "emidiscs" done by Pep, he put it on a few for some reason but it never took off and nobody seemed to like it much. As for Double Cookin'...sounds great as an instrumental and should be left as one in my opinion, the vocal just doesn't seem right though the Del Satins Soussan thing was not bad.
  16. I'm just breaking it down to show exactly what it costs and therefore how much people are ripping other people off, no surprise to see what your response is.
  17. Well it charted in 76, top 50 only, so they'd have gone ahead with the release overseas - same as Chubby Checker - Just Don't Know, made the lower reaches of the charts on reissue so came out in Spain on London. This is a bit like Out On The Floor by Dobie Gray, when it was issued by Black Magic it did so well that it was released in the States on a label called Thunderbird, then people started thinking that it was a 60's local label issue! Also Harold melvin - Get Out, issued on Phil LA of Soul to try and match it's UK success in 75.
  18. Champion was always my favourite record from 75 to about 78...still get a shiver when I hear it. But Alan, I'm amazed at what you just said because I was in the car yesterday and this track came on and I thought "that would have been perfect back then" and I just couldn't place it until right at the end when the chorus sang "foot, foot stomping music"...absolutely brilliant and needs reactivating!
  19. Found a load in the garage, stuck them on at 2.99 if anyone wants them https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
  20. The second one is The All Night Workers (rumoured to feature Lou Reed) with Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket. The last one is Trick me Treat me by Cobblestone.
  21. I emailed him and told him he couldn't have picked a more despised record. Apart from the Carstairs.
  22. Geordie - I did this list of prices because I thought I was getting it wrong and to show what it really does cost - I was actually charging £1 normal and £1.40 recorded but after the last lot of mailers and card I bought, well it was 200 x 7" mailers, 200 x 7" card, and 200 x 7" paper sleeves - f*cking £96!!! I wonder if there are any factories who make cardboard who would sell cut card to order because it's really expensive. But so is having to chop up millions of boxes with a stanley knife. Where do you get your stuff from cheaper than covers 33 cos I'll definitely try them. TOP TIP OF THE DAY: if you've got a pound shop near you, they usually sell lightweight jiffy bags 5 for a quid...
  23. Yeah great if you know the weight. I was basing it on people not knowing the weight.
  24. Don't know if this is of any use to anyone but I've got proper figures for the cost of mailing records so if you think people are overcharging you, you can refer to this list: the mailing costs are from the post office obviously, and the mailers and cardboard are from Covers 33.
