I reviewed this over a decade ago, nice to see them all keeping up It was planned as a single for darlene but they decided to keep it in the can as she was doing too much session work at the time. I've got her autobiography and she mentions this. It's autographed and dedicated by the way (the biography), found it in a little village charity shop, strange!

Well spotted...three things about this record: 1, they made a promo to this with Twiggy against a white backdrop, often gets shown in programs about the 60's; 2, it came with a great black and white picture sleeve; 3, when Twiggy was in "The Boyfriend", Ember issued a really dodgy LP consisting of instrumental tracks from the stage show plus both sides of her two Ember singles...but the version of Beautiful Dreams was different to this one as it had a theremin on it!

That no.1 was actually covered up as the Teen Turbans (a girl group)!

4) Probably well known to a lot of you, I think this is one of the best unreleased tracks ever, The Charmaines - I'm Standing In The Need Of Love. I think kev Roberts said he discovered this and it was an unissued Date recording. 5) The Ambers - Funny face girl. This is the original of the Gene Latter tune on UK CBS. It's not a great song anyway, but it's interesting. 6) No doubt this will split the board down the middle, this is not a soul record in any sense of the word but it's quite magical I think.

Going to post a few things up...four of them are cover ups, I don't know who any of them really are, maybe someone does - and they are all quality sounds. There's a Richard Caiton acetate and one of my favourite UK pop stompers, so hope you enjoy a couple of them. 1) No idea who it is 2) Covered up as Nolan Chance and has the same backing track as Cody Michaels 3) Richard Caiton - Reflections (acetate)

Got a little story about this. I've had 3 or 4 of these, going back to the late 80's when it was £25. I sold one 2 years ago for £100, but prior to that, I got one off Ebay in 2000 for £4 and it was a little beat up but I thought I'd keep it for myself. Anyway, without mentioning any names, an infamous DJ was plundering my collection at the time, taking records I didn't really want to sell by his powers of persuaion, and they were mighty powers believe me. So he finds out I'd got jenny Wren, and I say it's only about VG, I don't want to sell it. So he starts...50 quid...75 quid...100 quid..125 quid...this goes on for about an hour with phrases like "you don't collect, let me have it", "it's only VG, I'm making you a fantastic offer" and so on. It gets to £150 and I couldn't refuse that, so after 60 minutes of begging and pleading, I give in and sell it. Two years later when the DJ sells his collection, Mick Smith comes across the copy of Jenny Wren that I sold him, and the DJ says "Pete Smith really ripped me off with that record, charged me double what it was worth". p.s. Jenny Wren was from Dudley! Rob Pheasant once found an acetate containing a track not released on here sole 45.
