  1. This is the dance competition from the Wigan Casino 30th anniversary do held at King George's Hall, Stoke. The girl who comes second is Gill from Manchester who I actually used to go out with having met her at Wigan in 1977 and bumped into here again 26 odd years later, it's a small world out there!
  2. Might have a tiny, tiny clip - like 10 seconds - but definitely no full clips of Shorty Long, sorry
  3. Tremendous Northern dancer produced by Robert "barefootin" Parker. This track exists in two versions, the one here is the double tracked vocal version which - to my ears - isn't as good as the single track one.
  4. Just let me know if you're getting fed up yet
  5. Another of those clips I wouldn't have believed existed unless I'd seen it with my own eyes. Obviously having had it for 10 years it's not remarkable any more but you know what I mean. Mamie is wearing a wig in this clip and when she comes out to perform Special Sgent a little later, the wig slips down a good 2 inches
  6. What a great song this is - covered by Geno Washington - and I love the lead singers' straightened out hairdo! Also the way they've got their moves and routines perfected down to the last detail. Brilliant stuff.
  7. Was there ever a better dancer than this guy in his prime - here he is on the T.A.M.I. Show in 64, performing Outa Sight. (sorry for any delay)
  8. It's available from the German company Bear Family mate. The whole lot. I don't sell them anymore as when they bought it out, they were so superior in quality that they made mine and everyone else's redundant. The only one I do is the 50 track compilation I did of all the relevant Northern performances.
  9. Don't know about documenting them - I've been selling collections of clips like these for nearly 20 years, going back to things like This England. I still do them now but only when I've got no records to sell. But I did put a suggestion up saying that it would be good if we could keep the links to the clips in one place. I'll post more up later if I get chance.
  10. Hi Simon Yes, I've got the whole film. I can go through it find more audience / outdoors clips if you like, the majority is from inside Wembley Arena plus lots of interview footage, not much of 'the kids' really
  11. Even better if you just go for Slim & The Uniques version without the DJ, it's on Gas, but the B side is even better, "Love And Devotion", killer late rocksteady (have posted clip up here before)
  12. This tv appearance can't have done the sales of his single much good as it's now selling for a few hundred quid! Who'd have thought we'd ever actually get the chance to see Joe Matthews singing this...shame it's not Ain't Nothing You Can Do...
  13. Thanks Del, it's nice to be able to actually share some of this stuff or even watch it, we never seem to get time to do anything here so this stuff never really gets an airing. I have to pack up now though, I promised I'd get Davina the new Superman film so we're going to watch that in a minute. I can't wait
  14. Filmed for the Worlds Fair in 1964, this is the opening segment to the film This Is Ska!
  15. Sorry, nearly there, still processing on their website
  16. You have to see this just for the crowd reaction to the note that Ray hits at the end of the middle eight at the climax of the song, if ever there was a spine-tingling moment, this is it, and he just looks blown away by it all...
  17. Well done Jo, but I am absolutely horrified to see the mention of McMillan nurses, I knew Kev was ill but thought it was to do with some kind of bypass, cancer was never mentioned. Jesus.
  18. Yep thats one of the things they keep showing, a clip of some lads at a youth club and playing pool, with Elizabethan Reggae playing on the soundtrack
  19. I'll just put the clip of The Drifter up then call it a day I think, I've been doing these since about 1 o clock and it's half 6 now, shame I can't find a way of doing them quicker
  20. Ray's first ever appearance in the UK and he was astonished at the acclaim he received from the people on the Northern Soul scene over here. It was a warm up gig for his weekender appearance the following saturday. Here is a clip of him performing It's A Sad Thing.
  21. It'll be ready in a minute, must be very busy as it took 45 minutes just to upload this one!
  22. Love this, should have been massive!
  23. If they are up on youtube already you can easily link them to this site. If they aren't...I could probably find Peculiar & Witness...I've definitely not got fatback band though, sorry. Actually I've got a dvd in front of me with marvin on, I'll see if I can do something with it
  24. It's just dawned on me that I was confusing it with Don McLeans' Castles In The Air...doh!
