  1. I've noticed we have a new subsection for the video clips but I hadn't seen an announcement about it (excuse me if there was one) so do I have to post them in media now and not all about the soul?
  2. Anyone wanting this can PM me for details
  3. When I was doing copies of this, for the cover I used a letter from the director explaining why it wasn't released on video - it's mainly because of the fees for licensing the music. If I've still got it I'll post it up. COAST TO COAST Every year we receive hundreds of request for videos of this film starring LENNY HENRY, JOHN SHEA, GEORGE BAKER, and PETE POSTLETHWAITE etc. When we produced it in 1986 we were unable to clear any of the rights for any form of video distribution - actors, writers, musicians, music content, director, writer and crew. It was thought by the different financing elements that it was only a television film and as it would then have cost well over £200,000 to clear it for video release worldwide not to be worth the investment. Due to numerous demands to purchase the video and lately DVD we have tried, on several occasion, to clear these rights retrospectively. This has not happened. Apart from the fact that the costs would now be far greater than those quoted in 1986, many of those concerned have said that they will not give their permission for such a release. These permissions are needed to move forward. Therefore, it is with great regret that we are unable to provide any of you with a film that so many of you fondly remember nearly 20 years after it was first screened.
  4. Some of them are from those dvd's, some are from the source that those dvd's came from, but about 50% are from my collection so not all of it has been seen by everyone
  5. So you're saying it has no matrix number in the run off??
  6. I got a job lot of 300 or so off that seller last month. They were all there but the conditions of half of them left a lot to be desired.
  7. I'd have to go along with this. In fact I actually married two red headed women. Not at the same time.
  8. I didn't say you were supposed to..
  9. just a clip of the quite evocative intro to this long lost film shot for the BBC. It's never been repeated or released on video or dvd and it had a superb Motown soundtrack.
  10. Sell them me then
  11. I'd buy the cd/dvd Simon, the documentary isn't brilliant but it's interesting for the most part, just a bit overlong.
  12. That was a compilation though wasn't it - not all material recorded in 69
  13. This is from a 1976 ITV documentary called Aquarius...it's the only footage I've seen of Roy Shirley, who was one of Jamaica's most soulful singers. I cut the clip short as he starts showboating a bit! Note Rico Rodrigues on trombone.
  14. He couldn't release an LP, he didn't record enough tracks
  15. To be honest Dave, 1968 is far enough forward for me Thats' "northern soul" wise I mean. Ordinary / commercial soul whatever, not bothered about, I just haven't been able to adapt to 70's and beyond sounds being played alongside 60's, and I never will. All those that do like em, good luck to you, but it's just not for me, thats all. Although of course I contradict myself every time by saying I like the 'modern' stuff that used to be played 75-77, but after that, I'm a lost cause. Back to your question, I doubt very much I would enjoy a soul Lp recorded in 1969. I would, however, enjoy a reggae LP recorded in 1969.
  16. B side of the better known Standing In The Need Of Love I think
  17. How could Jack Motngomery have had an LP, he only recorded 4 singles in his life didn't he, on 4 different labels, what, was K-Tel going to put it out??
  18. It's flash photography you dozy twat
  19. That's very kind of you! Stenna Stairlift?
  20. The 70's don't count as far as soul music is concerned
  21. Yes he was known as the ugly one and if you watch this clip you will find out why. Recorded classics such as Fire Corner and Herbsman Shuffle, best of the lot is King Of Kings in my opinion. Anyway, watch this, and be thankful you've got a dentist.
  22. Lou Johnson - recorded an LP but it was never released - I think, supposedly where his version of The Panic Is On comes from
  23. The only stuff I have from there is Ray Pollard, pat lewis, Lorraine Chandler and a bit of Eddie Parker (which is awful!)
  24. Done that for years, it's pretty ropey compared to having a deck you can plug in
