  1. Sorted, thanks chaps
  2. Thought I'd put that up??
  3. The clips are from This Is Ska, a film made by the Jamaican tourist board for the exhibition in the States in 1964. The program Stuart is thinking of is called Deep Roots Music, it was a 5 or 6 part series narrated by Mikey Dread. I do have the series, but it's time coded and very average quality. It was repeated on monday or tuesday nights in the early hours back in 1988 but hasn't been seen since.
  4. And here's the lesser known but brilliant Eric Monty Morris
  5. This is the oldest footage of prince Buster that I know of
  6. Well the word Legend should be in red
  7. Thats not correct Benji, James Lewis is the original (though there's a Case Of Time as well). Ken's copy is a bootleg though.
  8. You can only watch them Mark, you can't download them or save them
  9. I got one of these of Ebay, a Philips issue, a few weeks back, I haven't actually paid for it yet as I didn't look at the advert properly and didn't notice he didn't accept paypal. It was considerably cheaper than 400 quid I can tell you. If anyone wants to take over the auction and buy it thats fine by me because I don't like arseing about with international money orders. PM me if interested.
  10. Whatever. It's still funny.
  11. Train kept A rollin'
  12. Well look, if I wanted to hear crossover, modern or new releases, I'd go to a night which advertised them, but if it says northern soul night, I'd be expecting to hear none of the above but would expect to hear northern soul which as everyone knows, is predomanently 60's music. Thank goodness for the R & B clubs, at least they're sticking to the roots of the music.
  13. You try having a baby and see how often you go out - or even want to go out. People will not go to venues if they think they are going to hear shit music. So if it says accross the board or crossover, I wouldn't go.
  14. Keep your eyes on the three Tams behind lead singer Ray Whitley. The middle Tam is having a hard time following the others and is looking a little unwell. After about a minute, the camera pans back to them and there are now only two Tams on backing vocals, the middle guy has disappeared completely!
  15. I don't believe that 3,500 people have visited my shop so far this month, simple as that!
  16. Terrible song, as was the O'Jays
  17. Here's the updates since the main list, I'll do this frequently: NORTHERN SOUL FEATURE ON 'THE WORD' 1993 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZrhlverSyI MARVIN GAYE & TAMMI TERRELL - AIN'Y NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH (ALT VERSION) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNUeIU9hXFQ GENO WASHINGTON & THE RAM JAM BAND - MICHAEL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDMi5GcfbbI ROY HEAD - TREAT HER RIGHT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1CwzXm4cfo MITTY COLLIER - I HAD A TALK WITH MY MAN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajXkweSwCFI JOHNNY TAYLOR - CHANGES https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhrNBtEQ_-U
  18. It's pretty simple really. If you advertise a northern soul night, you play northern soul, if you con people by advertising northern soul and then playing crossover and modern then you don't deserve to get anyone attending. If the most successful nights are the ones playing what they promise, then they must have got it right, no?
  19. Mine has had about 500 less than that but I don't believe those figures. Load o' bollocks. I still want to know where are these 7 million soul collectors.
  20. I'm sure they do, but come on, a soul records website getting more vistors than ebay, can we just put this into perspective. I bet major retailers like HMV and Virgin don't get more than 10,000 real hits per week
  21. No it's not...what about those counters which tell you the exact number of vistors. Otherwise I could visit a site, tap on it all day and it could say it had 9 billion clicks
  22. I had a coloured label Dalton Boys demo once, I didn't know it was any rarer than the (stamped) white one, so I sold it for 60 quid..
  23. Sorry but there are only about 300,000 soul fans in the world, let alone that many everyday for a month. If you're going by clicks you can't use those as hits - one vistor might perform a thousand clicks per visit to the site.
  24. Drew - it's definitely your computer - or - the volume of traffic on the website at the time. Also it's often best, if the picture is sticking, to wait for the whole thing to load up, then start it again
