  1. Could you be a little more patronising please? Perhaps it's not the right scene for me either, cos I've hated this type of music since the 70's but I live in hope the muppets who play it will retire. We might have to put up with it but nobody says we have to like it.
  2. Puff
  3. There's only so many threads you can do on one subject, once they are exhausted you go round again from the beginning. Also I would think that over 50% of people who use the site would prefer jokes, however rude, to endless political ranting.
  4. Says who?
  5. What are they doing using the internet at work anyway, get some work done you lazy gits, we're having to suffer not being able to swear because of you workshy b*st8rds
  6. Sold one a few weeks back for either 150 or 175 - you're right, it's f*cking awful and always was...Richard played it same time as he was playing an equally awful record, Wakefield Sun
  7. That's a good point about the swearing. And why would any kids actually be on here? There aren't that many 11 year olds into northern soul, and any that are would probably swear like buggery already.
  8. Here's some stuff I've reduced...email or PM if interested in anything or ring after middday, cheers PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL pete.smith@freeuk.com 01902 893569 5TH DIMENSION - TRAIN KEEP ON MOVIN - SOUL CITY M- 30 8TH AVENUE BAND - THE WHOLE THING - COLUMBIA EX 15 ANTHONY & THE IMNPERIALS - IT'S NOT THE SAME - VEEP VG+ 10 BOBBY BLAND - SHOES - DUKE DEMO EX 30 AL TNT BRAGGS - EARTHQUAKE - PEACOCK DEMO EX 10 DAVE BLOCKER - NOTHING'S GONNA CHANGE ME - ROBERE VG+ 15 BOBBY BLAND - SHOES - DUKE EX- 15 ED CROOK -THAT'S ALRIGHT - TRI SOUND VG+ 30 THE CADILLACS - FOOL - ARCTIC EX 75 KENNY CHANDLER - BEYOND LOVE - TOWER DEMO EX 20 LORNA DOONE - DANGEROUS TOWN - RCA DEMO EX 30 THE DRAPERS - YOUR LOVE HAS GONE AWAY - GEE DEMO EX 75 THE DELLS - MAKE SURE - CADET EX 10 JILL HARRIS - YOU DIDN'T REALLY MEAN IT - CAPITOL EX 25 THE HOLIDAYS - I'LL KEEP HOLDING ON - REVILOT EX 15 CLYDIE KING - IF YOU WERE A MAN - IMPERIAL DEMO EX- 40 B side label missing THE KNICKERBOCKERS - WISHFUL THINKING - CHALLENGE DEMO EX 75 LIFE - TELL ME WHY - REPRISE DEMO EX 75 THE ORLONS - ENVY - CAMEO DEMO EX 75 PATTI PAGE - YOU DON'T NEED A HEART - COLUMBIA DEMO EX 30 NITA ROSSI - SOMETHING TO GIVE - HICKORY EX 15 THE RIVINGTONS - TEND TO BUSINESS - COLUMBIA DEMO EX 20 BILLY STORM - EDUCATED FOOL - INFINITY DEMO VG+ 60 HENRY STROGIN - MISERY - HANK M- 20 JOE TEX - UNDER YOUR POWERFUL LOVE - DIAL EX 20 PAUL VARISCO - TELL ME WHERE LOVE GOES - KAPP DEMO EX 75 GENE VITO - UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY - DECCA DEMO M- 40 This is mint play-wise but has a crack right on the edge of the records run in TONY WILLIAMS - HOW COME - PHILIPS DEMO EX 25 MILTON WRIGHT - THE GALLOP - CARLA ISSUE VG+ 50 Has an annoying click for 30 secs in the middle RONNIE WALKER - YOU'VE GOT TO TRY HARDER - EVENT DEMO M 15
  9. Did anyone know who this was by (the file I put up above (Tony? Stuart?) or was it just too bad to bother with?
  10. Some relevant points Ken but where else can you hear and see records and artists you'd probably never get the chance to see anywhere else? Buy and sell records free of charge? Get in touch with people you thought you'd never hear from again? Share tunes with like minded people? Slag off modern and crossover til your hearts content? It's the same as anything, we moan about it but would miss it if it wasn't there.
  11. £200 tops.
  12. I think Scotty Williams was recording more in the late 50's than in the 60's. Might be wrong, but see his records crop up a lot.
  13. It's from "The Beat". More info Once THE !!!! BEAT was only a legend. Fans and collectors heard that there was a television show in the mid-1960s that captured the absolute very best of the soul and R&B singers of the day. Some said it was made in Nashville and some said that it was made in Dallas. Musicians remembered working on the show and a few people remembered seeing it, but no one seemed to know what had happened to it. Did the tapes still exist? How many shows were there? Who exactly was on it? Now, nearly forty years later Bear Family answers all the questions. All the episodes still exist! It really was a fabulous show! It really was in color! It really did feature the absolute best of the soul and R&B acts of the day! And whereas once just fragments of the shows made their way onto bootlegs, now the entire series is available in first-generation quality. It has been a long time coming, but now THE !!!! BEAT is back! Soul music is bigger than ever now, just as the original practitioners are dying off or performing way past their prime. Revivalists like Joss Stone often only emphasize how great the originals were in their day, so here is a reminder of what REAL soul music was like from the absolute original masters. There were 26 THE !!!! BEAT shows, and many of the performances were live in the studio with a backup band led by the terrific Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown. Here are just a few of the original soul and R&B stars captured in their prime: Otis Redding; Little Milton, Esther Phillips, Joe Tex, Etta James, Lattimore Brown, Rosco Shelton, Carla Thomas, Freddie King, Barbara Lynn, Johnny Taylor, Maurice & The Radiants, Louis Jordan, Mighty Hannibal, Clarence 'Frogman' Henry, Robert Parker, Joe Simon, Mitty Collier, Jamo Thomas, Zz Hill, Lou Rawls, Bobby Hebb, Willie Mitchell, Don Bryant, Ovations, Bar-Kays, Percy Sledge, Garnett Mimms und Sam & Dave. When you're talking about soul music, it truly comes no better than this! Fans in the UK can expect a treat in 2005 in the shape of a multi-part series on SOUL MUSIC, so SOUL is officially back. Go get every episode of the THE !!! BEAT. Exclusively from Bear Family....the new Soul City!
  14. Some nice 60's rarities up - Rio, Doctor Bird, trojan, Amalgamated etc - There's a short sound clip of both sides for most records (only works in internet explorer) cheers https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZmayfair...1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0
  15. Also Three Degrees Also Three Degrees. Macca, the Three degrees were not The Flirtations in a former life
  16. The problem is, it's difficult for the likes of myself who sell records as a job, because I can't buy them at the prices they are listed for as I have to make a profit, but on the other hand, don't want to seem tight and insulting by offering less than they are on sale for.
  17. I got this reply when I told him it was only worth 30 dollars: ----Original Message Follows---- From: DINOVORESEARCH@aol.com To: petesmithrecords@hotmail.com Subject: Re: Question for item #170021169664 - Pat Lewis Northern Soul Look At What I ... Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2006 08:08:56 EDT I saw the same record as my listing sell two weeks ago for $550. There is 24 people watching it so if it doesn't sell I will relist it or keep it. don't suppose anyone else wants to click the link in post 1 and tell him it's only worth $20, that'll really get him upset! $550 my arse.
  18. Oh yes...
  19. I did, and I did!
  20. That's a bit strange because the boots that were done in 77 are identical to that except they spell the artist as "Lennie".

  22. Good work chaps
  23. Nah they've been building up for about 3 weeks now since we discovered how to link to youtube. It's fine to put the links up but I just thought it would save you bothering as they were already linked a couple of times. I might replace some of those anyway, I've got better ones of all the time coded copies now
