  1. No, I nearly did, when Mick was selling it, but now he's decided to hang on to it until he gets a good trade. He turned down £1000 for it. That's a 70% increase in price in just under 3 years.
  2. Might be a problem with this one, it's taking ages to process
  3. The reason it's happened is because you have to tag your uploads so I always tag mine northern soul rhythm blues motown, a catch all thing so that anyone searching can usually find the clip. One guy took this to mean that I was classifying Otis as a "northern soul artist" and thats why it's kicked off. I'm finding it quite interesting/amusing/shocking and well done you lot for joining in, but the most frustrating part is not being able to make people like that understand what it actually is all about. I won't ban him for now then.
  4. No, it's a comedy film with a Motown soundtrack...Two guys meet, one American, a deserter from the US army, one Brit, and they are drawn together by their mutual love of Soul music. Neither being gainfully employed they decide to start a mobile disco service for fellow soul lovers, which leads them to buy an ice cream van, and the adventure begins. Before long they find themselves on the run from the bad guys and the police.
  5. Now I know how moderators feel! I don't like that guy shouting his mouth off about something he knows absolutely nothing about, but it's nice to see people giving him what for, but I've removed a few of his comments - the ones with the f and c words in, can't see the point. Anyway I'm going to ban the c*nt in a minute.
  6. He's at it again. "Northern Soul is a totally meaningless designation. That the records were played in Britain has no bearing on how they should be classified. Northern Soul typically refers to obscure records played by collectors and enthusiasts. Otis Redding wasn't obscure. And if you were to describe him to a newbie, you'd start by saying that he and others popularized a gritty sound - Southern Soul. That his records may have been played in England is immaterial."
  7. Anyone who has been enjoying the video clips, could I ask one of you to make a response to this tw*t who is having a go at me for daring to say that Otis Redding made a northern soul track. He is insisting that because Redding was from the South, he could not be a northern soul artist. God they wind me up so much! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dWG25YI47Y#GU5U2spHI_4
  8. I'm making notes you know
  9. Now I find this bizarre because that sounds like some junk B side filler which has absolutely nothing going for it whatsoever and that applies to most crossover records. Someone, please point out to me what is good about this record. No offense, but there really must be a shortage of good records around if people think this is worth playing out.
  10. That is a typo - it should say with his calypso group in the James Bond film "Casino Royale," not starring Sean Connery
  11. OK I've now had about 30 people ask me to do copies of this so I will do them for anyone who wants one free of charge, however I will have to ask for £2 paid into paypal to cover disc, postage, jiffy bag, time, electricity etc (bear in mind after their cut I'm left with 1.60), I would do them for nothing usually but not this quantity. Paypal is pete.smith@freeuk.com, just mark it DVD and I'll know what it's for.
  12. Could I have the email address who played £62 for a record he could have had off me for a tenner, I have some Soul galore records I'd like to sell him
  13. Brilliant track. Not sure where or even if it was ever played anywhere, I first bought it (on Paula) in the late 80's after hearing it on a tape
  14. Casino Royale actually...I think
  15. Well it was meant to cheer people up so that's why I put that version of Touch Of Velvet on, cos no one would surely expect to hear something like that today - but it is actually a pretty obscure version that I doubt if many people have heard. Bowie late 74 - the launch of a million haircuts...
  16. You're obviously demented. That Charades track is brilliant. Sorry, here's part 3
  17. Well yesterdays selection was well received, but that was mainly rare stuff, today it's a couple of rare ones, a couple of obscure ones, an oldie and an oddball one. I like the oddball ones because you just don't know what to expect. (n.b. this is just a bit of fun and is not meant to be taken as my suggestions for the best records of all time)
  18. It's called "I'm Sorry" mate. Island 132. Do you have the track listings handy? Would certainly be interested in hearing anything I've not already got.
  19. Hey, I can't advertise it for sale because of copyright rules on the site yet here's a link straight to it!
  20. Think I might have that Kapp pressing
  21. Doh, you got me that time! thanks Mike!
  22. Issue, by a mile. I sold one for £300 about 2 months back, how much does he want for his?
  23. Sorry Joan, that George Hobson is one of the worst pieces of recorded music I've ever heard and to call it sh*t would be an insult to sh*t...utter utter excrement
  24. Well it pains me to agree, but thats not a bad five track list. Er, why does it pain you to agree???
