  2. There's no need Rod, the money was refunded, it's not that that I am angry about, it's being accused of swapping the record over or messing about with it, people can think what they like about me and the banter on here but you won't meet a more honest person and this has really upset me.
  3. I like Sam Fletcher but think Tobie Bowe is akin to the sound of fingers being scraped down a blackboard. To each his own..
  4. The idiots who bootlegged it 2 years back even put the artist name as Narbay
  5. More likely the fact it got in the UK top 10
  6. It's f*cking NABAY not Narbay
  7. I paid for a record for a friend of mine using paypal, it was Art Posey on Scope, anyway when it arrived it had a hairline crack, very very difficulot to see but cracked none the less. The seller received the item back and sent this letter: .....I noticed that the letter B in the dead wax was a little longer than I remember, also the label on the back is a tad off centre and is slightly peeling, maybe you can help me resolve this matter.... in other words, he thinks I've swapped the record over, or if not, that but I have managed to change a machine stamped matrix and also totally remove a record label stuck on with industrial glue. I immediately put in a paypal claim and got this reply The record I sent you was not cracked, or scuffed. The B side WAS not pealing nor was it off center. Bottom line is that i DONT SELL defective mercchandise. if I did. it would be clearly stated in the items description. Check my auctions to see. So basically my friend and I are both liars and conmen who swap records over for better copies and return the shit ones. I am so angry about this I thought I'd better warn you all in case you get sent a defective record by this seller Randy Feinberg selling as "Arniebarggie". Even in the description of the record he says it scuffed, has marks and is VG- for goodness sake https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting
  8. Actually forget that, it's got a little crack on the run in so you can have it for nothing if you want it, it still plays VG++ or better
  9. I might have imagined it but I'm sure Tim Brown had this for 200. I had 3 copies a couple of months back, sold the best condition one for 50. I've got one of my own which is no centre and visually vg plays vg++, would only want 15 quid for it if you want it.
  10. So it's well known then?? I'd never heard it before. Had it for years, never played it...kinnell, I've got about 1000 of these to play tonight
  11. No thats perfectly true Ted. Though I do sell loads at £3 to £5 while everyone else is trying for £20 on the same record. If a record is under £20 it's usually safe to say that there are numerous copies around.
  12. OK so the lists are a goer then. But what about pricing. I've got what is obviously a great record like Dale Hawkins - Suzie Q on original Checker, I can't exactly ask £3 or £4 for that, on the other hand I wouldn't know how to go about pricing something like that, and would upping the price put people off. Or should I not make it like a jumble sale £3 list, clean all the records up and put them on at book prices? It's hard to know what to do for the best, can't win if you're too cheap, can't win if you go by the book. Whoever suggested soul packs, I may well consider that, thanks.
  13. That is the Wolverhampton coat of arms isn't it?
  14. Sold, thanks very much for the interest
  15. See, I knew someone would say that!
  16. Was waiting for some wag to say 'that's a bit soulful for you isn't it'
  17. That Ebony Keyes is a bit of a weird one. Few years back I used to sell it for 15 quid, then all of a sudden it went up to 75 overnight. Last 2 I had, one demo went for 40, one foreign copy went for, can't remember but might have been 50, that had a pic sleeve I think. I didn't know there was another version but I will lie awake worrying about it now that I know there is.
  18. Not seen it...will go look
  19. I know everyone hates every track I post up which I'm not sure about but I found this today and thought it was quite nice, I think it would be classed as crossover, it's probably known by everyone but have a listen anyway. I await Simon White's comment that it contains the worst aspect of anything he's ever heard. Think I have to add a reply to use the uploader so it will be on the next post.
  20. No you misunderstand amigo, I could get a couple of grand to buy records off you, I can afford not to sell the Padded Cell just about...
  21. Pete S

    Big List

Never had this record, always wanted it, you are right about it being very scarce, I also thought it was about 50 but if I was to set out to buy one now (if your list hadn't come out) I doubt if I'd find one at ANY price.
  22. Terrible cash flow crisis at the moment but I kept back two credit cards in case of extreme emergencies, I can get a couple of grand on those so long as nobody tells my missus.
  23. Chicago actually Col but know what you mean, and what a fantastic record that is too. I got an Anthony & The Aqualads from a shop in Eastbourne - the guy in there actually gave it to me for nothing. I'm sure Mr Sutton told me he got the copy of Will Collins that I bought off him out of a charity shop in Eastbourne too.
  24. I'd have bought half the records off your list if they'd been at my prices Maybe I'll do them in the batches then - A to H first, see how it goes. Thanks for the input.
  25. I've got maybe 1,500 soul records I need to get shut of which either are not northern or are very borderline, I call these general soul records - they also include late doo wop, ballads, modern etc. Do you think that there's any point in doing a list of these records? I was thinking of knocking them out at maybe £3 or £4 each across the board regardless of what they are, it's just that it is an awful lot of work sorting and typing that lot up. Does anyone on here actually collect non-northern soul? Just wondering whether to bother that's all. For instance: first lot is Atlantic label, there's 100 or so of those, artists like... SPINNERS, BARBARA LEWIS, BEN E KING, JACKIE MOORE, MAJOR HARRIS, WILSON PICKETT, BILLY VERA, CLARENCE CARTER, ROBERTA FLACK, PERCY SLEDGE, SOLOMON BURKE, ARETHA FRANKLIN, RUTH BROWN, CHUCK WILLIS, DAVID NEWMAN, BETTY JOHNSON, CLYDE MCPHATTER, DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, PATTI LABELLE, SONNY WRIGHT, MARION WILLIAMS, LAVERN BAKER, ARCHIE BELL and so on
