  1. The only difference is that the original 45 fades out and the reissue on London (and the bootleg on SOS) last maybe 5 or 6 seconds longer and come to a dead stop and do not fade out.
  2. That's at least double the value. I sell this for £75, that's when anyone will actually buy it. I must have had 5 copies in the last 2 years, all but one came off ebay from people who thought they were pressings. Great track though.
  3. At one point I had probably one of the top 10 (non-Motown) British collections in the country and I can guarantee 100% that I would never have turned down a record because it had felt pen on the label. That to me is just madness. Sometimes these things don't surface again for years.
  4. Don't matter where it came from, all of the Jayboy releases sound better than the records that you say they were dubbed off (I'm not calling you a fibber by the way)...the sound leaps out of the speakers. This isn't unique, if you listen to the original Bari Track on Sound Impression, the Soul Galore release is way superior in sound quality.
  5. I decided to drink the (imitation) jack daniels cos I thought that way I can drink as much as I like but lose the beer belly
  6. There's no spoken intro on the UK copy. I think there's two different US b sides though.
  7. hanks mate, it would have been better if a) I hadn't got a hangover and I could remember a bit more of it
  8. Right well first I have to say I didn't know anything about this film, I wasn't familiar with the stage show so forgive me for stating the obvious. The story is a thinly disguised telling of the rise of The Supremes and in particular the ousting of the true talent (the Florence Ballard character) and the promotion of the lesser but more public-friendly face (the Diana Ros character). Eddie Murphy does a great job as a kind of Marvin gaye/James Brown hybrid. The copy I watched was a cam (filmed from the screen using a video camera) and usually these\are only average quality but the picture\was pretty good, the sound was muffled for some of the dialogue but the songs were excellent quality. The bonus about it being a cam this time though was the amazing reaction of the audience. To begin, you could hear mild applause after a song ended - unusual in itself - but when Jennifer Hudson performed what must surely be an oscar winning performance of And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going, it sounded as if the entire audience was giving it a standing ovation...it was if they were watching a live concert and not a movie. I last saw Jennifer Hudson being unjustly eliminated from American Idol way too early about 3 years ago. She proves with this film that she is an absolute star and gives an awesome performance as Effie White, the girl kicked out of the group for being unreliable, overweight and moody (reasons for this become apparent). I loved the recreation of the early 60's Detroit music and recording scene and the brilliant spoofing of various Supremes album covers and TV appearances...there's also an hilarious Jackson 5 parody which got a big laugh from the audience. At the end of the day, I wasn't keen on a lot of the songs but the performances and choreography was fantastic throughout. I'd say definitely try to see this film if you get the chance, it'll make you laugh and possibly make you cry, like it did me. Though I had drunk half a bottle of bourbon by the end of the film. And why not.
  9. Apparently there's one five second headshot and some audience noise from time to time...but there always is on the first cam copy, in a week there'll be a telesynch and a week after that a decent screener copy.
  10. OK got a copy of the film now, will watch tonight and review tomorrow
  11. It looks the same as the pressing except the label is glossier and the delta number is different. The second one has a bit of noise nea the start, when I go upstairs next I'll record it for you so you can have a listen.
  12. I didn't sell it mate, I had to give it to someone for credit I owed them. I've got another lesser copy, but if you were asking what I listed it for, I think it was 100 then down to 75
  13. One more time
  14. Not sure if this will work properly but if you have a spare 10 minutes it might be worth having a browse...this is a mixture of Northern reissues, Northern originals, general soul and doo wop, reggae and ska, and 60's pop 45's. The layout is a bit crap as I'm not sure how to do it any better, you have to scroll to the right to see the prices. cheers Pete p.s. most of the rare northern is right at the end
  15. https://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. I think it was a boot, bearing in mind the source of all of the other Mirwood instrumentals
  17. 4 quid
  18. The reason you haven't seen one on my list for some time is because I won't pay the ridiculous prices people started to ask about 18 months ago. I've never sold this for more than 50 quid. I would happily sell you it for 75 if I'd got it. Those copies with the straight line logo are legit reissues from soul bowl I think.
  19. If I had one and someone offered me £150 for it I'd sell it to them in about 2 seconds...it's worth half that, despite the lecture I'm now about to get from Chalky or John Manship
  20. It was mate..about the same time
  21. Yes this version came out on DJM over here. Both the Veejay and DJM recordings are in stereo and lose all their power, the Jayboy 45 sounds incredible in comparison (better than the Keymen one even)
  22. I did as well this morning. No reply.
  23. Me too
  24. Though a bit of cardboard inside the mailer might have helped..
  25. I sold one on ebay last year, might still be up on popsike. It was a bit weird what it went for, a near mint copy and it fetched less than a tatty vg a week later! Here it is https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?...nr=100502362844
