  1. I will definitely do that then, ta.
  2. Some of us don't know how to obtain them!!!
  3. No thats fine Dave, if it's what you and others believe in then it's a great thing you've done, it's just a different viewpoint to mine.
  4. It's just I'm taking the girlfriends Dad for cancer treatment every day at the moment, I also had to go past the childrens ward twice a day at the hospital her Mum was in and my heart broke every time I looked inside at these poor little kids. The other day someone was on about having a collection to buy a headstone for another recently died soul singer. I thought it was a joke to start but it wasn't. When I got into real problems, people on my mailing list actually sent me money - I tried to give something back (I said can you pay like £2 for a cd if I make one) and instead of paying £2 some people sent £10, £20 even £50. One guy lent me £1500 and told me to pay it back £50 a week. This is just unbelievable, that people you never met help you out like this. When a member of KTF's wife sadly died from breast cancer, I put together a cd of my rarest records, sold it to KTF members and mailing list people and raised something like £600 for cancer charity. Nobody asked me to do it, I was really glad to be able to help. But there is no way in a million years I would ever give money to help an old recording artist thousands of miles away.
  5. Have a look back over the threads Ady and you'll see that right from the start 99% of the people on here have been critical of the barefaced cheek of this seller, Tony was going to make a few enquiries re Millie Jackson. Was just pointing out that just because say Stateside put out Hoagy Lands in 1967, they don't necessarily own it now. Or maybe they do. But you know what I mean.
  6. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jan 8 2007, 06:49 PM) link hi pete how much ? mark Well I put it in the sales section this morning at £75 and it went quite easily to be honest...though it was up for a good 3 hours before I got asked for it, then after that, 3 more enquiries.
  7. A lot of the kent things only get licensed for a period of time - so after that it reverts back to the original owners. Or sommat.
  8. Here is that instrumental bit from the Dana Gillespie 45 - FANTASTIC
  9. They're like the big bully going round the playground knocking the little kids over aren't they. Absolutely pathetic.
  10. I remember seeing her in that film with Doug McLure - something like The Land That Time Forgot, in about 1973. Got through a whole box of tissues that week.
  11. I'll have a look at that in a sec mate, I have to go find my hard hat as I am expecting some incoming after my last comment in the 'get a northern record to number one' thread
  12. I'm totally against this sort of thing. Not this particular download thing but the idea of raising money for singers. This is an artist who had a career and still has friends in the music business. There are no doubt people on this very group who are unemployed or sick and could do with some help. Or there are countless childrens charities that could be supported, or cancer groups like McMillan, why try to raise money for some old r&b singer, I'll never understand this. OK so no doubt someone will say "for all she's given us" well what does that boil down to, a couple of tracks 40 years ago which she got paid for at the time. I feel sorry for her and any of the other artists who fall on hard times, but lots of people have problems and I think money should be spent closer to home. That's just my opinion.
  13. Anyone ever hear a song called Pay You back With Interest by Dana Gillespie? It's a Hollies song I think. This is from about 1965. Anyway 3/4 of the way through comes an instrumental break which is just so northern it's unbelievable - chime bars, brass, the works - sadly it's only about 20 seconds long. Actually the entite track is fantastic but if I had an mp3 trimmer I'd send up just the inst.
  14. Eh??? Fantastic track but the rhythm is more ska than anything. This is one of my all time favourite youtube clips...when the music kicks in, the audience go f&cking mental
  15. The follow up, Keeps On Burning, had northern dancers and various memorabilia
  16. It's a late rocksteady backing track with Dave (Collins) Barker doing his dj bit over the top - also came out on Escort.
  17. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL 01902 893569 Pete.smith@freeuk.com RECORDS NOW AVAILABLE PLUS UPCOMING ITEMS IF ANYONE WANTS TO RESERVE THEM These available now: DENISE LASALLE - A LOVE REPUTATION - TARPON VG++ 60 I thought this copy was goping to be EX - the other side is, but Love Reputation has got some kind of mini-scratches where it must have been rubbed against something, anyway at one point you can hear a few background clicks, it's nothing terrible. Labels are nice. It's up at £150 on John Manship's site so to put it into prospective I'll do this at £60. BRUCE SCOTT - YOU CAN'T LOSE SOMETHING YOU'VE NEVER HAD - MGM DEMO M 50 Remember the 100 Club anniversary single credited to Chubby Checker? Turned out to be Jimmy Radcliffe, supposedly...anyway, that was a sparse demo version, here's the actual completed version which was released. One for the big beat ballad fans, a real grower. You can hear it here: /index.p...c=40348&hl= MELVIN ELLING - LONELY EYES - STRETCH M- 150.00 Best copy of this I've ever seen - looks almost brand new - spotless vinyl and labels, brilliant Stafford oldie FIRST GENERATION - GIVE HIM UP - UK HIGH NOTE EX 75.00 Anyone who used to get my fanzine Beatin' Rhythm (yes, it came before the shop) might remember that I had this covered up about 12 years ago - this is the first time I've had a copy since. Very very scarce (as are most releases on this reggae label) but it's a great piece of female soul, almost crossover. Anyway you can hear it here: /index.p...c=40347&hl= THE FOLLOWING ARE ARRIVING IN THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO, IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ANY I'LL PUT YOUR NAME DOWN, THE PRICE IS APPROXIMATE UNTIL I GET HOLD OF THE RECORD THE HARRISON BROTHERS - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE - BOBALOU 300 ENTERTAINERS IV - GETTING BACK INTO CIRCULATION - DORE DJ 50-60 THE IMPACTS - JERKIN' IN YOUR SEAT - COUNSEL 100 DEE CLARK - THAT'S MY GIRL - CONSTELLATION WHITE DEMO 75 Rarest format - original WD THE AVALONS - MANY THINGS FROM YOUR WINDOW - ROULETTE DJ 30 THE MALIBUS - GEE BABY I LOVE YOU - SURE SHOT DEMO 100-125 RODD KEITH - I'M A MAN - PREVIEW 300 (Blurb from the ebay seller I got it from) Any Northern Soul collector worth his or her salt is familiar with the hideously rare and much sought after single "Like The Lord Said" by Rodd Keith - a driving dance burner if there ever was one. "I'm A Man" features the identical backing track, but unlike Rodd's single "Gloria" which features this backing track and has shown up multiple times on eBay, other than the copy I am offering for auction, there is only one other known copy of "I'm A Man" (and I, unfortunately am not its owner!). DEREK MARTIN - IF YOU GO - SUE 50 OVELLA & THE OVERTURES - THAT'S ALL YOU GOTTA DO - COLUMBIA DJ 40 DEON JACKSON - NURSERY RHYME - ATLANTIC DEMO 30 ARGIE & THE ARKETTES - YOU'RE THE GUY - RONNIES 100 ROSCO GORDON - THAT'S WHAT YOU DID - ABC DEMO ? 20. I found this in about 1993, reviewed it, taped it for people, sold it and forgot it. Got another one last week, apart from a couple of slightly shaky vocal parts it's really nice, see what you think. Very hard to price something like this as well. p.s. the post new clip feature is not visible so up as mp3
  21. Yeah it is John. Was saying about the anti-slip grips, the only ones I can recall are Capitol and related labels like Crazy Horse and 123.
  22. I thought this copy was goping to be EX - the other side is, but Love Reputation has got some kind of mini-scratches where it must have been rubbed against something, anyway at one point you can hear a few background clicks, it's nothing terrible.
