It's the same track - but it also came out over here (on London I think) as by Hammond Brothers & Maggie! The Le Cam one doesn't have the Ede Robin vocal at all but has a cover of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Berry Street Station.
-
Poppett & Patch, that sounds good! Do you know anything about this Simon (or anyone) - it is, of course, "Soul Symphony" with some minor differences.
-
Well I've got a couple, the recording of Bari Track is actually better than the original, it jumps off the vinyl

THE REASON WHY - linda burns - ty tex 14409 refosoul Alternate version of The Dolls
-
Funny how you know a record for years then something comes along and knocks you off your feet, one of my favourite records is The Dolls - The Reason Why, came out on a small label first (Toy) then got picked up by a major (Loma)...what I didn't realise that it had come out on an even smaller label first, under the name of the lead singer of the group, Linda Burns. Don't know if anyone realised but this is actually a different version, the backing vocals are very different for a start. I'd have thought this was ultra rare but I got this off ebay for about £25 but it's only VG. Obviously I realise that someone will now say oh yes I had 58 copies of that before the Dolls was discovered but I just thought I'd mention it anyway as it's such a brilliant track.

No problem! -
The start page looks fantastic now, I knew that live footage of my record collection would come in useful! Also I added about 100 titles last night, plus a new podcast. cheers Pete https://www.raresoul.co.uk/wordpress/

Thanks for info everyone. I'll stick it on the website for £30.

Isn't it Soul Drums by Pretty Purdie from a Columbia LP...stopped half way through and had sound effects put in, then repeated!
-
Here's an hours worth of classic ska, from the likes of The Skatalites, Alton Ellis, Eric Morris, The Clarendonians, Desmond Dekker, Jackie Opel, The Wailers and many more. All tracks are taken from original 60's vinyl releases so please excuse the surface noise on many tracks. Let's just say it adds to the authenticity! https://www.raresoul.co.uk/wordpress/?page_id=11

Very sad news, shall watch this now and have a little think to myself
-
It's actually by The Moments on Hog Karen but when it was discovered I don't think the artist name was on the acetate so they called it Fabulous Impacts and it came out on a Kent anniversary single. It's a different version to the actual release (better in fact). The 45 on Hog is a four figure job

Blimey that Chesterfields is cheap, I'd have it except I had to pay the tax bill, the car and the rent last week!!!

Need Everyones Help On Here, Particularly Italy
Pete S replied to Dave Thorley's topic in All About the SOUL
There's already an anti-paypal website Dave, someone's bound to know the address, it makes shocking reading -
This is the exact response I was hoping for Rob. People's opinions. I personally think Branded is terrible and I like Out Of My Mind but so what! Have to say I really enjoyed playing some of those.

IT'S YOU - chuck carbo - rex 14390 refosoul
-
Hang on, I'll record it and send it up. I make no claims that it's any good, just wanted to know if it was a known record.
-
He's obviously got a thing about black drawers. If he likes very big black drawers he'd love my missus
-
make Up Before We Break Up - dick & dee dee - warner bros 14377 refosoul
-
Anyone heard of this Chuck carbo - It's You - Rex, New Orleans label. It's kind of popcorn.r&b, just wondered if it was known, worth anything? Not bad but the female backing spoils it for me like it does on a lot of these type of records.
-
Thanks Tone, not only for that kind mention but also for not taking the piss like most would. A good record is a good record no matter who it's by. Anyway it's £30 now
