  1. I didn't know that, cheers. Then again, I didn't know they'd put out another version of You Can Split. Note to Graepvine promotion people: please send me some promos
  2. Last one I had off them was broken in half but they send them with tracking so thats why they charge a bit more
  3. Broadway Cissy is a funny one, I got one off ebay 6 months back from the Uk for about 40 quid and sold it for either 80 or 100. You'd get 150 for a white demo but definitely not for an issue. The second version of the Showmen is really rare and I've only had it once, if I tell you I swapped it for a copy of Harry Starr on End that probably tells you it's value. It's not just a paino intro thats different, it's a completely different take. Padded cell, I've sold two for £100 and one for £75 in the last year. Spindles £25, Charles Mann not much more. p.s. please warn in advance if these are coming up for sale
  4. I was gonna say that
  5. It's actually "Whirlpool" by Marvelous Ray on Abner. It also turned up on Goldmines first Thelma cd as being "Caught in a whirlpool" by Pat Smith.
  6. Actually thats interesting - I hear those weird pops as well, but they aren't there on the original recordings. Does anyone know what causes them?
  7. Not sure...I always thought the Lou Johnson came from an unreleased LP
  8. Just realised I made a cock up after about 20 minutes, it starts Lone Lonely Town which I thought was an instrumental but it sounded crap so I stopped it, meaning to edit it out later, and I forgot! So there's about 25 seconds of that before it goes into 'Diane Lewis'
  9. https://raresoul.mypodcast.com/index.html see main post in All About The Soul
  10. OK this is now live, just to say, I purposely did not include things like Luther Ingram baby Don't You Weep, Tiaras cover up etc etc as I didn't want to cause any bother, so things like that are absent but I think you'll still find it an interesting hours worth. If any of the tracks have since been issued or uncovered or whatever, I apologise. There are three tracks that are normal releases but I just like them, you'll spot them easy enough though one has an outrageous cover up group and artist I am only leaving this up for 36 hours then it will be taken down. https://raresoul.mypodcast.com/index.html TEMPTONES C/U - THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN LOVE BARBARA MERCER - MY DEAR HEART EDDIE HOLLAND - DAY DREAMER UPTOWN STRINGS - COME GO WITH ME inst CINDY SCOTT - IN ONE EAR AND OUT THE OTHER CHRIS BARTLEY - I GO OUT OF MY MIND DAVE HAMILTON - WHAT SHOULD I DO inst SHANE MARTIN - I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT MIKE POST COALITION - DOWNTOWN GENERATION JEAN CARTER - LIKE ONE TOPICS - DO THE YO YO MILTON JAMES - MY LONELY FEELING DIANE LEWIS - YOU AIN'T GOT A CHANCE BARONS OF SOUL - YOU NEED LOVE GLORIA EDWARDS - MY LOVE GROWS STRONGER VAL SIMPSON - IT'S JUST LOVE BERNARD WILLIAMS - TEARS TELL THE WHOLE SAD STORY LITTLE CHARLES - WIN YOUR LOVE DON & RON - I'M SO SO SORRY DARLENE LOVE - A LONG WAY TO BE HAPPY JOBETE ORCHESTRA - THE TOUCH OF VENUS GEORGE MITCHELL - MR. TEARDROP WENDY ANDREWS - CLOCK ON THE WALL FUNK BROTHERS - SWEET THING LOU JOHNSON - THE PANIC IS ON JIMMY RADCLIFFE - THE THRILL OF LOVING YOU ROSE McCOY - I STILL REMEMBER THE FEELING
  11. Thanks a lot Simon, it's on that new podcast I've done, I just listed the artists as "forgot"
  12. don't say that, we'll be here all night!
  13. You know the rare unissued version - male group, slower version of you need love - I posted on here 2 years back, forgot the artist...anyone remember?
  14. Bollocks, I sniped the wrong record I don't even want this, I've already got it
  15. Better not be, if it is, I need slapping
  16. Should be good I reckon, I've scoured my tapes and cd's and whatever and come up with about an hours worth of worthwile stuff which some of you will have heard but hopefully lots won't, also a few that I've posted up here in the past for like one day then removed them. Things like Temptones cover up, Daydreamer, Clock on the wall, You need love, Chris Bartley, Barbara Mercer, Funk Bros, Topics, Cindy Scott, Lou johnson...also a couple of tracks that are quite rare, issued, but I just fancied playing them - Don & Ron, Milton James, "Downtown Generation". Anyway see what happens, I'm going to record it later and I'll send up a post when it's ready to listen to. Please see next post
  17. If you'd been one yesterday, I had a Betty Lloyd up for set-sale, gone now I'm afraid but proves it's always worth looking in the Sales section
  18. I go out of my mind - chris bartley - acetate 14873 refosoul
  19. Dunno to be honest, sounds like Bartley to me, also heard it might be The Temptations at one point.. but here's a decent recording of it for you
  20. Wait til you hear the next one - every track unissued! Going on tonight or tomorrow
  21. East Coast / West Coast. The ones from the West Coast are styrene with the blue label and minimal design.
  22. The websites down but there's several links to the actual podcast page on their own server except I can't be arsed I'm sick of typing it
  23. Than ks Steve and thanks to everyone else who's, er, said thanks. It's nothing, honestly, I mean that. I recorded something like 40 tapes at Wigan, I ended up with about 15 after lending them out, then I met a mate who used to go up with us and he had actually got some of mine, plus ones he did himself (the Searling ones). I've swapped with people here and there and probably have about 70 or 80 tapes now, but Mark Freeman took on the mantle and he has more than me now, though I stopped ages ago. I'm happy to put all of them up. I've also a few from other venues, Peterboro, Blackpool Mecca, Cats, Shotts, anyone interested I will try and find them, I know I only have one box in the house, the rest must be either in the loft or in the garage.
  24. I don't keep any of them mate...
