It's the Mohawks on Pama Supreme
  2. This isn't correct. Skinners came in either denim or white versions. The cord baggies you are thinking of were called Karman Ghia and they were incredibly popular for about 2 years. They had weird ticket pockets at the front instead of proper pockets. I had a fawn coloured pair, my mate had a sky blue pair, can you imagine!
  3. What a great idea. But I don't know him mate, just the daughter...I can ask though. You know I can probably list a dozen soul singers or their relations who've contacted me (after seeing their clips) which I didn't really follow up apart from send them a courtesy email...just wasn't thinking - if anyone wants me to see if I can find them I'll have a go
  4. For those who asked, the dvd's are £45 including post in the UK. Sold L Allen, Contessas, Chester St Anthony. Offers welcome on the rest. malcolm, have tried returning your calls re Impressions but keeps saying phone is currently unavailable
  5. Cheers Joan but there's much better people at it than me, I just find it hard to think of decent questions to ask. What interests me is the fact that SHE thought he was unknown, HE thought he was forgotten, yet loads of people over here and in Europe know him and his work, he'll be blown away. And I'm really happy to be able to help. Here's a picture his daughter sent me of him giving her away at her recent wedding.
  6. No it's true mate. For a start, all the Soul Galore's were done there. Countless pressings: off the top of my head, epitome of sound, ollie jackson, prince george, detroit sound, eddie parker (awake), marie knight, sidras theme...I'd be here all day
  7. Andy just cos it was pressed at Monarch doesn't mean it was legit, 90% of all bootlegs were pressed there. If it starts with 10 then it's 76-77
  8. I see Winston on the left of the picture Eddie
  9. We were all so thin in those days as well!
  10. Well thats just ridiculous!
  11. I used to get this on UK Page One fairly often - £25 job...bet it's gone up a bit now..artist credit was The Patron Of The Arts
  12. Quite an interesting label that and I think the demos are green and very rare. That was another pirate radio tune in the 60's apparently.
  13. It wasn't played until 1976 so thats doubtful..
  14. You could always invest in a spellchecker
  15. Apparently it's now called Gramma records but was the biggest label in Zimbabwe before that. https://www.embargo.ca/zim/info/labels.htm
  16. Agree 100% Chalky. (Blimey, frame that!)
  17. I could probably tell you who pressed that. Though you probably already know
  18. Cloth-ears abound, it's bloody brilliant, it's got everything necessary to make it absolutely classic Northern. Fantastic record, from the call to arms piano intro to the do it yourself backing vocals
  19. You probably won't believe me, but that's from ZIMBABWE!
  20. As said above, the first boot was the blue and white one, this one followed about a year later, 100% definite bootleg.
  21. I've got a mint copy of the techniques on UK Treasure isle and it is a fairly quiet recording, got no life in it compared to say Barbwire or Mosquito 1 which have got the same backing. I've never seen a copy of My Conversation for sale and I've been buying reggae since Liquidator came out. You can easily find an import of Ting A Ling, if not I'll sell you mine for a fiver if I've still got it
  22. Two designs on this label...
