  1. An emidisc is an acetate...
  2. People used to choose from a list of titles and get any two cut back to back, like the one above - thats from 1975 I'd guess.
  3. Rob, why the f*ck are you arguing with yourself? Nobody's talking about playing anything on this thread..
  4. In the 70's, when a record was massive, there were only say 10 top dj's, one or two would have the original and the others would have emidiscs cut off those two originals - and play them at Wigan, Blackpool, Cleethorpes with pride! I've literally sat on the decks with Keith Minshull once at Wigan and he played EMI after EMI, Tough Girl etc.
  5. I have a Tamangoes issue and demo at the moment.
  6. Only thought that was worth about £15!
  7. https://www.rare-soul.com Guys my new website is finally ready, there's not a massive amount on it yet as I only started uploading yesterday but there are forty or fifty things in the UK and USA originals sections, also there are a couple of articles in 'Features' which you'll have seen before but you should see them now after the revamp. The player works but there's only track 1 in there at the moment. I'll be putting up digital downloads and all sorts of stuff eventually but I want to get the stock on first so if you bookmark the page, each time you come back there should be more stuff up there for sale. I will also be taking records in for other people on consignment; send them to me, I'll scan them, describe them, publish them and sell them for you, they can stay there as long as you want them to for free - I take a 20% commission. I hope you like it anyway, Mal Collins spent such a long time sorting this out for me I'd like to say many thanks to him, and his website design company is open for business. cheers Pete Smith https://www.rare-soul.com
  8. If you can me the time machine to take me back to when I wrote it, then yes!
  9. Can't wait to see if the people who think it's worth more than £300 have a bid on it of course, they've already got it...
  10. I got Gene Robertson's copy so that would also probably have come from the 100 Club. What a great record.
  11. Whats the demographic of the people who attend it though - lots of people from where I live went, none of them gave a toss what was even played, let alone what it was played off, they go for a drink and a dance and a laugh. So for the 5% who are outraged - the other 95% don't care.
  12. Well I like seeing kids enjoy themselves and they looked like they were having a fabulous time, you grumpy b*stards. Someone on the youtube comments says that the Etta James record is sh*t. Etta James and sh*t, not two words that usually go together
  13. Well I wrote that 22 years ago so I probably wasn't joking, and having relistened to Leo's Sunship, I'd now give it half a star so I was right first time
  14. £150
  15. That's down to Mal C on here. Genius.
  16. Have Gloria on Wigan tape June 77 Only time I ever heard it
  17. Stafford I'd guess...never heard it til late 80's
  18. Cheers everyone. There's another article on the site but everyone has definitely seen that so I won't link it.
  19. Watched it when they broadcast it on BBC 1, was crap then as well
  20. I did it in 1992 for Record Collector mag...always liked it!
  21. I know you've all seen this before but look how nice it looks after a revamp! https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/grapevine-records/
  22. I sold the crap quality vinyl one for £40 and the really good quality red one (same as the gold one but red) for £50 both last week, both on Discogs. I bet if I'd put £75 on each they'd have gone. Just couldn't do it!
  23. The sound is bad ion the intro, dubbed off a very crackly 45, no need really as they could have dubbed it off a mint bootleg! (Before I forget, you know what you said about Russ playing Spencer davis in the big room and I said you are correct - well you were, but when I checked the tape, Russ is actually standing in for Dave Evison and doing his oldies spot - hence him playing SD)
  24. Test press of the Goldmine version?
