  2. Many thanks. Hey Tim, there's a tape you did in this box, October 1981, some really good Northern which I bet you've still got, Cashmeres, Little Johnny Hamilton, Johnny watson, Determinations, Gil Blanding etc, and some obligatory modern crap like Omni and Phillip Mitchell....
  3. F*cks sake this is a month long auction, I suppose we're going to hear nothing else now for the next four weeks so I rule myself out of this topic as it's already all been said.
  4. Soul Source to receive donation for identifying it as the real thing?
  5. I'll see if I can match that up to the date. Looks like they don't have events there anymore.
  6. Got this tape it says Peterborough 23/1/82, doesn't say which venue, it's very quiet in there wherever it is but I've been trying to work out who the DJ is and I think it's Chris Plant, going by a) the records and b) him dedidcating a record to his good friend Harpo, so I could do with that being confirmed too - then I'll post it up if anyone wants to hear it, track listing BILLY ARNELL - TOUGH GIRL INST LESTER TIPTON - THIS WON'T CHANGE BEVERLY ANN - HE'S COMING HOME STEINWAYS - YOU'VE BEEN LEADING ME ON FOUR SHARPS - FIFE PIPER BENNY SPELLMAN - FORTUNE TELLER JOHNNY TAYLOR - FRIDAY NIGHT LARRY HOUSTON - LET'S SPEND SOME TIME TOGETHER GREATER EXPERIENCE - DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER RAY AGEE - I'M LOSING AGAIN UNKNOWN SAM WARD - SISTER LEE JOHNNY CASWELL - YOU DON'T LOVE ME ANYMORE CONNIE CLARK - MY SUGAR BABY SAXY RUSSELL - PSYCHEDELIC SOUL LARRY SAUNDERS - ON THE REAL SIDE MEL BRITT - SHE'LL COME RUNNING BACK MOSES SMITH - GIRL ACROSS THE STREET JODI MATHIS - YOU DON'T CARE ANYMORE SISTER SLEDGE - LOVE DON'T GO THROUGH NO CHANGES SUSAN BARRETT - WHAT'S IT GONNA BE PROFESSIONALS - THAT'S WHY I LOVE YOU YVONNE VERNEE - JUST LIKE YOU DID ME JIMMY MACK - MY WORLD IS ON FIRE ADORABLES - OOH BOY EDDIE DAYE - GUESS WHO LOVES YOU EPITOME OF SOUND - YOU DON'T LOVE ME JACKEY BEAVERS - I NEED MY BABY BILLY KENNEDY - ? 7. It was played at our disco as new soul release along with Detroit Emeralds, Spinners, Stylistics etc - minor hit
  8. I love their other two on Doctor Bird but this one never did anything for me...but anyway, I'll see if I can source one. There's a couple of groups on facebook which might be able to help, Boss Sounds For Sale is one, but be warned, their prices are mainly double what UK sellers ask, they'll list something like Moon Hop for £30 and say 'bargain'.
  9. Mark let me have an email and I'll send you this via an online dropbox type thing, I have decided I'm not going to make it public just yet. I've tried to upload the Stafford one but the places I put it on won't let people download it for free as it's too big. I'll think of something.
  10. Cos it's not spelt correctly, it's enthucol
  11. Just listening to this now Mark, the sound quality is incredible...band aren't half playing fast though! Al Kent, Pat Lewis, Lou Ragland and JJ Barnes been on so far.
  12. I'll do that one next then - unfortunately I didn't hit the record button properly on Harold Melvin so I'm having to do it all again!
  13. Erm..yeah probably...I'm just recording it into the mac, then it'll be in itunes - if I put it into mixcloud to edit it together I can save it as a wav, just let me know where you want it sent to. Quality is awesome, performance has had me nodding off while listening, so many ballads...
  14. Yeah I got it wrong Steve, it's all one Searling spot, proper Northern first then the others stuff. The Searling set includes (again, I realise that some of these are cover ups): ELBIE PARKER - PLEASE KEEP AWAY CLIFF WAGNER - SOMETHING AIN'T RIGHT LAMAR THOMAS - ALL OF MY LIFE SPENT WAITING FOR YOU PIERRE HUNT - THE THOUGHT OF LOVING YOU SOFTONES - CANDY OSCAR PERRY - JUST LET ME DO IT BRIAN HOLLAND - THANK YOU GIRL EDDIE HOLMAN - WHERE I'M NOT WANTED LITTLE ANN - WHEN HE'S NOT AROUND MR. SOUL - WHAT HAPPENED TO YESTERDAY JOHNNY HONEYCUTT - I'M COMING OVER THE Q - THATS THE WAY
  15. See if this jogs your memory (don't know which are cover ups or not, just copying track list) BOBBY KING IF YOU DON'T WANT MY LOVE C.M. 16. Thanks Steve - 2nd April - don't know what year though. By the way, there's a tape in here from a Sheffield venue I never heard of, Sheffield Rebels, Jan 2nd 1982, looking at the track list it starts with a Searling spot, don't know who does the second spot but I'd have walked out, it's all modern...
  17. Anyone - Chalky, Dave maybe - can you tell me the date that Harold Melvin played at Stafford TOTW? Apart from his memorabilia, my mate gave me his tapes as well and there is a stunning quality recording of the Harold Melvin show in there, but no date. If Chalky hasn't already posted it up, I'll do so once I've converted it. There's also a full tape of the Ric Tic Revue at Hinckley.
  18. Can't tell. Probably original Wrigleys Doublemint, possibly Juicyfruit.
  19. Barbara McNair - Torch classic apparently - what sort of mug buys this?
  20. Got this stuff off my mate yesterday, obviously I'll go on to sell these but I thought people might like to see some of this stuff, memberships etc, there are two there which I have no idea what they are or where they are from, if anyone does know I'd be very grateful - Soul Appreciation Society Of Great Britain and Hi Style Music Revue. 21. I don't remember seeing an original demo with a scratched in matrix. I have 2 copies of the bootleg, they both have it scratched in. Nothing wrong with the printing, they look really good.
  22. Today I found a dvd disc marked Pete’s reggae & Trojan Box Sets so I was intrigued to see what “Pete’s reggae” was, I wish I’d never looked now, it was every 45 I had back in 2008. I’d guess they’d be worth over £25K now. Anyway I thought wow I’ve not heard some of these since I sold them so here’s a compilation of some of the best bits of one of my old collection, all taken from the original vinyl. Of the records below, I only have vinyl copies of two of them now, and both of those are represses! Still, never mind, one day. Anyway, please enjoy an absolutely tremendous selection of Ska, Rocksteady and mainly Early reggae classics.
