Nothing wrong with playing a few I suppose, but it's not to my personal taste and I would avoid places that played across the board - thats all...

End Of An Era
Me too, tears rolling here, weird how that can happen, it was 26 years ago! It's just when that clapping speeds up at the climax of the last chorus and then there's a tiny puase before the last thundering clap comes in just before he sings the words I'm On My Way

End Of An Era
and here's the last ever play of Dean Parrish - I'm On My Way

End Of An Era
OK have a listen to this - taped about 40 minutes before the end of the last night - listen to the clapping build up from one single clap to a crescendo, this made every hair on my body stand up when I played it just now...there will never be another atmosphere like this

Local lads - Craig, Chaly, Phil - all got great records - but was just pointing out, we don't all go to do's to cast a critival eye over the music - at the end of the day, it's for dancing to, full stop.

End Of An Era
Just going through piles of old cd's looking for my perfect quality version of the Diane Lewis cover up - can't find it but found a cd I made of the last night at Wigan, just says End Of An Era on it...have a listen to the last ever play of Tobi Legend - Time Will Pass You By (I've also found a cd of Blackpool Mecca 1975!)

So we all have to go round 'feeling' the music do we. Not sitting chatting to our mates, having a beer and tapping our feet. We all have to grow little beards so we can stroke them while the we're analysing the music.

You are absolutely spot on...you go to feel it not analyse it

I don't mean at venues so much I mean on here - we're always being told we've got no taste, got no knowledge, just because we prefer to listen to 60's soul but it's relentless - you've got listen to this 70's stuff or you don't appreciate soul music.

Close the door on your way out. It's supposed to be a forum for debate where people are allowed to express opinions. Mine is that 70's and 80's music shouldn't be imposed on those who don't want to hear it. And thats enough to make you leave the site?

You go your way...I'll go mine. As ever, it's the people supporting 'modern' who try to inflict it on the people who only want to hear 60's. Why this constant need to try to inflict this stuff on people when it's been made clear that it's not wanted. You just do not get 60's supporters attempting to play their music at modern venues and saying listen to this, you MUST like it or you know nothing about soul music. Someone, please explain why you are always trying to educate us when it comes to music, are we not able to make our own minds up?

Just An Observation But
As a dealer, I'm often left open mouthed by the prices a lot of people selling on here charge and wouldn't dream of attempting to sell records at those prices. Often you want to comment and say "you're having a laugh" but you get accused of sabotaging sales lists when you're really trying to stop people being ripped off. If I ask 100 quid for a record and it doesn't sell, next week it's 80 quid. Then 60 quid. And it goes down and down til I reach what I paid for it, then it disappears for a few months.

Trouble is, I don't know what makes a good 70's record or a bad 70's record but I quite liked this cos it was so uptempo
