  1. But on that photo above what you can't tell is that the drum is only above 5" across and 4" deep
  2. Yes it is - looks like this
  3. Was it the proper orange reissue, the green bootleg or the orange bootleg? I reckon the orange HIB from 71 is worth £50. The green bootleg maybe £20. The orange bootleg is worthless and is of shocking sound quality.
  4. Mike I can't for the life of me remember! But it's up on here somewhere
  5. That was a kind of electro static cleaner made specifically for cleaning jewellery, cutlery, spectacles and dental appliances. I got one of these from aldi for £15. And it sure works. The on,y snag is that the vessell that the record goes in is very small so at any given time, only a third of the playing surface can be covered and so you have to slowly rotate it by hand for the 3 or 4 minute cycle. This machine is best for getting out grained in dirt, I mean the kind of dirt that's actually been played into the grooves and won't come out by ordinary washing.
  6. Not half - one of my favourite films of all time and another one I foolishly offered to copy for someone and ended up doing about 25 copies a few years back.
  7. There's at least 4 versions of Like The Lord Said, in fact I think I've posted 4 up so there must be 5 because there is one on LP only by the MRS Singers which is a totally different version and is the best of the lot (and thats the first time I've actually spilled the beans on that one)
  8. The Preview label was one of several "song poem" labels. They would advertise in magazines and newspapers saying they wanted budding songwriters to send in lyrics and poems and these would then be set to music by their staff of vocalists and musicians. They would then press up a handful of copies to give to the writers who of course had to pay them money to have their song recorded and made into a record. The main player at Prevue seems to have been Rodd Keith as he appears on hudreds of 45's. The backing tracks were used over and over again to back different sets of lyrics. This is why the lyrics on records on Preview are often absolutely awful - it's because they are not written by professional songwriters but by members of the public. There are a few websites dedicated to Preview and it's sisters labels. There's also a documentary which I don't have but would love to see. Obviously I wrote this before checking to see if song poems appeared on wikipedia so if you click below you can get a better explanation to the phenomenon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_poem
  9. Fair active foam is different to wahing up liquid though - get the record wet, then give the bootle a good shake and squirt about 3 blobs of foam onto the record, then start rubbing it in a circular motion. After about 20 seconds it will turn from a think liquid to a bubbling foam and you just leave it like that for a minute, then wash it off with water, and it really does take some washing off. While the foam is on there, you can often see the dirt actually being lifted out of the grooves. I absolutely swear by this stuff but I wouldn't want to be responsible for it going wrong and damaging a rare record so try it on one of your Nans Jim Reeves singles first
  10. Best record cleaner I've ever used -
  11. Tony - Sadly there's no Ghost In My House but here's This Old Heart Of Mine Isley_Brothers__This_Old_Heart_Of_Mine_instrumental_.mp3 Isley_Brothers__This_Old_Heart_Of_Mine_instrumental_.mp3
  12. Yes Mike Terry and those other crack Detroit session men playing on it are committing crimes against music aren't they
  13. And I can see Louise watching, how is little Smithmick the Silverfish nowadays?
  14. Well that explains it. I happen to know that Dave Welding does in fact have a pet silverfish so I can now understand how the damage occurred. My apologies to all concerned.
  15. This exact copy was on ebay a few weeks back with that exact same description. If you were selling it then I apologise for accusing you of plagiarism, if you weren't then I don't apologise for bringing up the silverfish comment which is a ridiculous excuse for that label damage and was the reason I didn't buy it when it was on there. I have no problem with your sales list whatsoever. Just wanted to know why you mentioned silverfish. Maybe all the sellers should get together to put a new abbreviation on their lists - SFDOL - silverfish damage on label
  16. No I do know what a silverfish is but I'm surprised you copied the original sellers comments lock stock and barrel, he might as well just have said half the label is missing from the centre outwards
  17. Do what?????
  18. Fraid not. The Tops ones were Ask the lonely, Baby I need your loving, Bernadette, I can't help myself, Reach out I'll be there, Shake me wake me, Same old song, Standing in the shadows, Walk away Renee and Still water.
  19. The acapella version of War. Even if you don't like the record, and I'm not a big fan of it, you have to listen and come to the conclusion that this must be the angriest vocal ever put on record. The recording quality is so perfect that you can actually hear him inhaling and preparing himself just before singing each line. Unbelievable vocals. Edwin_Starr___War_acapella_.mp3
  20. He was from Lebanon not Israel. Apparently.
  21. Second press from recent times is vinyl but as far as I know, none of the 1976 bootlegs were done on vinyl, maybe it's a Jamaican original!
  22. This next one, what I like about this is that for 30 seconds it's quite pedestrian and repetitive and you're thinking "huh"? and then right on 30 seconds, you get that massive drum fill and it takes off like a rocket... 23. It's a case of several dj's having it at the same time then because Pep was playing it as well but nobody was interested. Seems odd to say it but at the time that record was considered 2nd division stuff. Any anyone who calls it Narbay instead of Nabay is very f*cking annoying
  24. No, he only mentioned space oddity because he knows I used to be a massive Bowie fan/collector
  25. This lot is an 18 disc set. Like I said, if anyone needs them they can always email me
