  1. Reckon there was a post strike yesterday because I sent everything out same day as they were ordered. As for the large list thing - can't win really - 10, 20 records, 100 records, never know whats best!
  2. Lorraine Chandler was originally thought to have also been September Jones but wasn't
  3. Ty Karim = Towana & Total destruction
  4. I don't think Lenny Henry actually did go, but he was one of the few black kids in Dudley who didn't, our usual coach went from the Red Lion in Sedgley (between W'ton and Dudley) and every time we went the coach would have at least half a dozen to a dozen black guys, Jethro's coach was the same though that was best avoided.
  5. That is true. I was looking at the the Gloria Barnes album about 4 weeks ago and in the sleeve notes she's referred to as Gloria Towanda Barnes.
  6. I realise this is a bit late but we have tickets in block A five rows from the front of the Al Green and Candi Staton show tomorrow at the Birmingham NIA but it doesn't look as if we are going to be able to go now. The tickets were £37 (each) face value, I'd take £50 if anyone wants them, obviously they would have to go registered post before 5.15 tonight or be picked up / meet up. 01902 893569
  7. Just bumping this because I've amended it radically
  8. Yes of course it is but as I said, I was just making the statement that northern soul is predomanently music for dancing to not sitting down to
  9. Sorry Steve we are still at cross purposes and I am still confused but that's not a new concept, I'm just thinking, the whole Northern Soul scene was based around dancing but now I'm being told that this isn't the case - aren't I?
  10. Read it again and read your reply again, it makes no sense whatsoever - you say me describing northern soul as dance music is bollocks and then two lines later you say soul is not meant to be sat down and listened to. Make your f*cking mind up.
  11. I think they are going to be exactly the same as yours Paul. 15. No that doesn't work, right clicking doesn't even give the option to change the extension type
  16. If I do it that way, it saves it as a .php file and doesn't know what it is or how to play it. Presumably I then change the name to .mp3?
  17. Fantastic - though not as fantastic as the vocal obviously but every time I hear this, whether it's vocal or instrumental, it never fails to give me a buzz, a lift, whatever - it's the chord changes on the chorus I think, written in such a way that they make you feel euphoric! Ain_t_No_Mountain_High_Enough_instrumental_.mp3
  18. This is already happening in a big way with US records. Stock copies of RCA, MGM and ABC releases are usually now more sought after than the promo copies - whether thats to do with the records history in that in the case of an issue, somewone would have had to order it specially or at least go to a shop to buy it. Not saying I'm Mystic Meg or anything but I wrote an article on this subject back in about 1993 saying that people will eventually wise up and realise that demo copies were simply giveaways and issues will become the main currency in rarities. If a promo of Gene Toones can reach 1500 quid - thats for a record that was originally given away - then the issue copy is going to be worth double that. I turned down 800 quid for the dean courtney mgm issue...then let my best mate have it for what I bought it for (150), I must have been f*cking mental
  19. I've never sold it for more than £300 so I don't know what to tell you! Hope you get your dosh back though.
  20. it's rare but not that rare. I was telling James the other day cos he bought the subject up, I had about 5 copies of this over the years and I also discovered the vocal (on UK RCA) - the vocal is terrible incidentally
  21. Good, try to be of service
  22. Yes but deep soul has got nothing to do with northern soul so I don't really understand why people are comparing the two. It's pretty obvious that the deep soul lovers think of themselves as a class above everyone else so maybe they should join up with the modern soul crowd, do us all a favour and disappear up their own arseholes. No offence meant.
