  1. Stock copy is rarer than DJ
  2. See, Stuart is always on hand to make sure I'm not making these stories up. He also promised to sell me back everything I ever sold him at the prices I sold him them for though he probably doesn't remember telling me that
  3. Sorry - they are taking the mickey - most of them anyway. Random link - a collection of modern day Deaconists https://www.spleen.dsl.pipex.com/jd-modern6.html and before we get into a debate about this - all these are out on the net and are f&ck all to do with me
  4. Definitely. In fact I remember a Russ Winstanley list with Joe Romans, Flirtations, Dave Newman, Anderson brothers, Salvadors, Joe Hicks, Johnny Vanelli, Flirtations, George Blackwell - and they were all advertised as originals. I also remember the list being confiscated from me by Mr Rowley as I was reading it in my last exam before I left school. As a result I refused to do the rest of the paper and got grade 5 cse maths which is about retard level
  5. No, you were there though, I was talking to Mick Smith, one of your mates offered it to him and he didn't actually know it so I said is it ok if I buy it and he said I might as well, so trying to look completely underwhelmed, I bought it from under his nose...
  6. Eddie I bet if you check back you'll find that these came later around the time of Ringleaders and John Bowie. The ones you refer to above came out in mid 1976, remember it well as I just left school. Admirations was definitely later than those, 6 months to a year. I mentioned above that there is a pressing with the B side on both sides, there was one of those on ebay a few months back.
  7. 5 years ago I bought a Parisians at Brighton record fair for £100, sold it for £150 or £200, it's now priced at £700
  8. No I didn't say 'oveheads' I said 'outgoings'...
  9. I decided that I want to live to see my little boy grow up and also want to attend another soul night so I packed up on sunday. Don't miss it, won't have any cravings, which is bizarre as I've been doing it for 27 years, but it'll be interesting to see what happens when I have that first sip of beer cos thats when I usually open the packet! Have to get some celery or something to nibble on.
  10. Personally it wasn't going too bad until my missus packed in her 18 grand a year job for NO REASON WHATSOEVER four years ago which meant that mine was the only income we had, not that I hold it against her or anything...but that money helped to buy records. Of course another factor is that I won't fly otherwise I could have gone to America years and years ago. And also I tend to spend money on reggae records which should really be spent on nappies...
  11. Just to give me a final kick in the balls, my little boy has a shelf of crap records which he likes to put on the deck while I hold him and he speeds it up and presses the reject button etc etc, I'm afraid his favourite record is a bootleg of Mickey Mouse Concerto In E Minor by Cartoon Candy Carnival, he's even rescued this one from the bin and he can also spot it in a bunch of 10 or so other records
  12. I doubt it Phil
  13. Well the Marv Johnson isn't worth anything Dante, it was a million seller.
  14. I'm just a bout to sell a mint Vanguards (Good times bad times) and a mint Silhouettes (Not me baby) and Gene Toones (What more do you want) , if anyone can give me a rough guide as to current values I'd be grateful, I've got something written down but not sure if it's right!...
  15. I've still got a spare UK Island copy of Wide Awake In A Dream if anyone wants it
  16. This is all very well when you've got thousands and thousands of records in stock to fall back on, and good luck to you, but when you've got a budget of zero and you have to buy records individually hoping they'll be certain sellers, you just cannot afford to have the records stay on the shelf John. It's not my fault that I can't afford to buy them in bulk but I have over £1000 of outgoings each month and have to support a family, I can assure you there is no money left over for buying records so I simply have to sell the ones I've got, and if they don't sell for one price, they drop the next week. Oh to be able to afford not to do that.
  17. Actually as a 60's garage record it's really good but I don't think it makes it as a northern record and never have, people can't slag off The Seeds for instance then say this is great because this is one of the most unsoulful records ever played...then again I can imagine how great it must have sounded blasted loud at a nighter and why it became popular
  18. It did read like an advert. Though (seriously) I don't know how long it's actually been available officially, it didn't actually come out back when it was recorded apart from on bootlegs, she was dropped from the label just before it was issued.
  19. Would you like them hand delivered with a little ribbon round them as well??
  20. I thought the boots all had the B side on both sides, if you see what I mean
  21. As little as 3 years ago I was buying them off ebay for £10. Then I stuck one on a list for offers as I couldn't get a price on it and I think it was Greg Tormo made me a good offer and so I knew something was up then...and then I kept getting outbid when I tried to buy a copy for myself! I sold the one the other day for £150 because that's what I thought was a fair price.
  22. Baz had you been to the pub when you wrote this???
  23. Yes you're right, I put the wrong side up, I'll change it in a minute and put up a sound clip. Thanks for the info Seb and Boba
  24. Agree. Delrays £100 tops except you won't get it for that now.
