  4. Talking to Kims manager and her tour has been extended in to March as well, as she is now going to be withe The temptations in France in the later half of March. If any promoters wish to put kim on at thier venues please get in touch and iwill let you know where she is on. looking at the North west for a decent sized gig and still searching for a Midlands venue. kim is backed by a Live 4 piece band and the show lasts between 50 min and an Hour plus. if you think you know of any club or motown promoter who puts live acts on get in touch the more gigs she gets the more money in HER pocket date span 11th feb to 14th march 06

  8. i talk to paul quite often and always find his comments helpful, I have advertised several of my own events in the mag as well and put it out at events. However i used to sell Shades of Soul for derek and soul survivor in the 80s & 90s both off my list and at venues. it sometimes made you feel like a right dick trying to get 80p/£1/£2 out of your mates for a copy of a brilliant mag like shades / SS as they all thought i was making a fortune selling it. I still have back copies i never sold (Honest !) you'll always get the ones "i'll get it at the end of the night" who are to pissed to get one then and i really wouldn't want to be stood with a pile of mags all-night, however the wholsale rate is good and an incentive to sell as long as punters want to buy something that has been free since it arrived. a hard one to call, but i think that keeping it free and charging slightly more on the ads would have been a better option. All credit to paul on a great idea and a landmark publication. Rob
  9. Looks like the centre has been "DINKED" with a "DINKER" for use on a Juke Box, so probably had a small hole when pressed.
  10. think you will find there is a copyright infringement on the label as well paul,it's being delt with
  11. There's no wonder Lou had a heart attack !!! I will pass this on to his record company and management, if anyone has FIRM proof where they came from PM me-- also believe it might be illegal to sell these if prooved to be Bootlegs. Rob

  14. DRIZABONE "PRESURE" 4th & BROADWAY That will upset Pete Smith, but as british as they come, not a cover version and has remained a constant dance floor filler--none bigger By the way nobody said it had to be 60s did they
  15. Yes he is a grand bloke and a bloody computer genius as well, ever helpful, always knowlegable and can spell a lot better than me, just like to add my thanks as well, cheers Rob
  16. Ok it's just really a bit of fun, but I had a hard job with this after posting it So Pointer Sisters "Send him back" J D Bryant "I'm not coming back" John & Weirdest "No Time" all boots sell the originals and have a P**s up !!
  17. OK so its time to meet your maker, you can take Only 3 records with you in the coffin...which 3 are they going to be and would they bury you with originals or would you take pressings !!!! i,ll list mine later.....
  18. I was there !!! I'd guess it was around 1977/78, we were outside waiting for the Casino to open and they were still playing !!! It delayed the All-nighter opening by at least an hour probably more! They would not let us in !, Slade had two articulated trucks full of sound gear they had to move before the nighter could start, there was nearly a riot outside then a black Rolls Royce came round the front of the casino with the band in it, Dave Hill ,Noddy were clearly visable and followed by about 100 screaming teenage girls. Them were the days
  19. Always knew this would come in handy BETTYE LaVETTE IN ASDA, SUTTON-IN-ASHFIELD NOTTS Cicra 1989 Bettye (with sunglasses) does Andy "tats" Taylors weekly shop as Alison looks on--see also Chris taylor in the baby seat chucking the shopping out as quickly as bettye puts it in !!!!!!!!!
  20. not being THICK, but what's he done ? couldn't read the handwriting on the link, saw the words CUBA mentioned--and US Gov. not two nice things to go together in the USA can someone put in into Plain english so we may help if requiered please. Rob
  21. Alan Darker, once of Lincoln /Sheffield now living in the Manchester area was late for a book signing in Manchester. He went in a Taxi, got to Waterstones, open the door very quickly and knocked a guy flat on his back, he went to say sorry and pick the guy up only to discover that it was----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MUHAMED ALI, honest its true--so that leads to the next question "Who are the only 2 English guys to knock Ali over ? "
  22. Just been talking to John Baxter who told me James Fountain passed away yesterday (sat) can anyone confirm ? I knew he was very ill and thats why he could not perform at fleetwood anyone seen anything else ?
  23. Pete I think this is what i wanted to say, we are all going out to venues but what sort would they be if we had the choice ? Russ is also right in the fact that the best nighters mix the music and don't have Two rooms
  24. no mind games, it's just that it is different horses for different courses. i went to a "Mod/Scooterist " do the other week, someones birthday. Only knew a few people there out of the 400 or so, didn't know the dj s and i heard more blinding originals than come out of many a top D js box. They also mixed in the usual Yardbids, Who and Small Faces and some other stuff, but the "Northern" was spot on ! As most know on here i personally like nearly everything except the early RnB that has been played, just not my cup of tea at all, saying that Roger banks has some great soulful early stuff and unreleased early Motown that would fall in to the RnB band which is great. just thought it would raise a discussion thats all
