Gil Blanding NOW SOLD

I would say Ive seen Brian drive incredible distances to do venues in different parts of the country, He did Hemsby Weekender DJ Friday Night & Sat afternoon, then drove to S Yorkshire to do The Corner pocket in Mexborough saturday night (4 hours each way) then back to Hemsby to do Sunday then back to Wales from Hemsby when he was half way home in |Yorkshire. However, we all take bookings on a verbal agreement and its taken in good faith, a call a couple of weeks before if you can't make it for whatever reason usually does the trick. i would say Brian is normally 100% reliable in my book Pete I will PM you as well Rob

In my time in Detroit looking for records, I came accross sveral people who have genuine master tapes from Motown, we found the Dianna Ross version of "My dear heart" 4 cuts and an inst, plus inst of Baby Love ,Ask any girl and other Hits. The problem is that the original Motown desk was a 3 track machine, then it went to 4 & 8 track, they were around in the 60s & 70s but now it is a specialist job to find a studio with the equiptment to play them, studio time cost at least $100 an hour, so you could be sat on a garage full of original tapes (which slowly self destruct by the way !) spend $10,000 on studio tme and not find a single good track---on the other hand you could hit lucky and get a "Suspicion, Reconsider, or Stormy" !! Motown deserted Detroit in such a hurry that they just left stuff behind, which several forward thinking people looked after for future use ! Time is running out, there is a small market for the un-issued stuff and then it will just be left to rot !!! but the work of Chris Jenna who has sat and unravelled all the paper work and listed tape tracks is a life saver for finding the obscure.

KIM WESTON IN WORKSOP, DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES (like the club owner not paying his bills !!!) The two Kim Weston Gigs in Worksop have been Changed to another venue. THE REGAL CENTRE THEATRE, CARLTON ROAD ,WORKSOP, NOTTS. We could not get both dates at the venue so have combined the two nights into one performance on SATURDAY 11th February 2006. 7.00 pm to Midnight Every cloud has a silver lining and the new venue holds more so the ticket price is cheaper !!! Tickets now £15 each. I think I have managed to contact all those who purchased or reserved tickets from ME, but those who got them direct from the Westgate Club must get a refund from there. Westgate tickets are not valid at the new venue. read more for more... The new venue is situated 100meters away from the Train Station on Carlton Road (A60) close to the town centre and holds 280 seated for the show, plus there is a Large foyer area and seperate Lic Bar where we will be playing Motown and classic soul/northern. I have personally taken on the running of the event in order to ensure that Kim gets paid !! Thanks to all who have offered to help at such short notice, especially Paul, Simon and Andy at the Regal who have offered the use of the venue at a discounted rate, we need bodies through the door to make sure everyone has a good night and that they take tons of cash over the bar !! Tickets and further details are available from Rob Wigley 01909 473915 / 07900 131 119 by PAYPAL (Credit Card bookings as well on this) TO robw@yelp.fsnet.co.ukor on The Regal ticket Hot line 01909 474458 HOPE YOU WILL ALL TURN OUT TO SUPROT THIS GREAT ARTIST ON HER FIRST DATE IN THE UK. THANKS ROB WIGLEY

Northern Soul The Movie ?? Soulvation ? are working on a full length filum that is a re-working of the 60 min DVD of 2 years ago, John Moore is the producer, the film is in its final editing stages and will run at about 105 mins as far as I am aware contains more interviews, and more footage of recent venues also old photographs etc. John was looking for a distribution deal to get it into cinemas in the |UK its a tough job but good luck to them, Rob Just had another thought on this--wasn't something being filmed in Nottingham about 18 months ago ???

some mystery surounding the cause of death--a post mortem is to be carried out, but it looks like a heart attack after a night out.

JUST HAD WORD Via DAVE WELDING THAT DEE EDWARDS HAS PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME IN DETROIT. very sad news as I had been talking to her recently about appearing at PRESTATYN 2007, her death is a sad reminder that in just over a week we have seen Wilson Picket, Lou Rawls, Gene Mcfadden all die. and non were of a really great age. Dee had asured me that she looked just the same as her Album covers and that she was still at school when she recorded her Tuba outing. A keen painter , dee had left the music business to concentrate on her family in Detroit and seem very content, but was keen to come to England to see her fans. So thats another one we will never see perform, I ve said it time and time again, get off your arses to see these people perform whilst you can they are not going to be here forever ! Rob Wigley
-
And I've never seen the Style Council so it couldn't have been them ... oh and by the way ... I do know the difference between the two bands !! Mick Talbot of the Style Council is in Kim Westons band on her forhtcoming tour !!!
