You work for them Paddy, but heard it from a source close to the owner ! From issue 1,000 i was told, but your answers good enough for me. Rob

Steve Hobb's still does a great column in there, with revue's and gig guide. Paddy Grady is "The voice of northern Soul". The Mag has recently been sold to a new publisher, who , rumour has it ,is going to give issues away free ! not sure how this will work but watch out !

Such bad news, Sylvia was always friendly from the day we both met her, a sad loss and sympathy to all her loved ones and family members. RIP Sylv. Rob & Karen

This was documented in Echoes in the early 80s with a picture of the couple dancing on the kitchen floor that they had rescued from T'Casino, they even left the "Fag Burns" in the wood. Canadian Maple floor if I remember right !

IF ANYONE SEES A ORIGINAL WIGAN PIE FROM THE UPSTAIRES CAFE FOR SALE LET ME KNOW ASAP. Wigan pies are virtually indestructable and like Pampas Nappies will lie burried in the ground for thousands of years and will not break down. It is still possible to find them, intact , on the small area of waste ground behind the Casino site ! Casino regulars can be identified by missing/broken front teeth form the time they accidentially tried to eat a "Wigan Pie". The Wigan Pie ranks second in the list "worst ever food stuff" just behind the 1970s "BR Cheese and Tomato Sandwich" . Back to the Real subject of this thread We have seen many of these Torch wall lights for sale over the years, they are 1930s mass produced and there are matching ceiling lights with either 3 or 5 Torch shades on them. looking at the sellers area (Stoke) and the fact that these would have been a nice touch in the Torch Club it was worth a bid, a pair would normally sell £50 to £100 in good condition at an antique centre. look around and you will find them.

I have had the DJ times and artist times e-mailed to me (as i think all the Djs have) and all the acts are in there with a time on stage. As I said ,I had acts on standby that are not now required. DJ line ups DO change especially where travel is involved. Really looking forward to this one and seeing the German lads who make the effort to come to Prestatyn on their home soil. Rob & Karen

Johnnie Mae Mathews label "Northern" great name for a Detroit label, but when ask why she called it Northern Records she replied "We couldn't think of a name so we called it Northern after the TOILET PAPER brand !"
-
Just picked up on this one, its a nightmare trying to sort out who's playing where from the various spread sheets i have 5 rooms and a radio station about 60 or 70 Djs at least on Friday !!!. I am going to try and lift the Arena guide from this years proof copy of the weekender guide and post it on the web site, not sure If it will work but will give it a try. REMINDER WE ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE FROM THURSDAY EVENING 2 ROOMS in action Checking in from 4pm to beat the Friday rush

When you shop at IKEA.........and you like all the units that look like they would hold your 7",12" & CD collections.......and if it is a sunday ...you DON'T buy a Hotdog at the checkouts

Read in yeterdays paper that the world is going to end on the 21st december 2012. This would solve the problem of who is going to take on the Northern Soul mantle and carry the flame forward. Some South American tribe also believe that the New World starts on the 22nd December 2012. So 2 points to make here 1) none of us are getting any younger, so enjoy the scene in whatever form takes your fancy whilst you can. 2) Sell all your records, buy a space ship, come back on the 23rd Decemeber 2012 and run an exclusive Northern Christmas "Do" off the same records you sold by playing them on your i Pod. in a nutshell Northern Soul/modern Soul is a great night out with a FANTASTIC backing track !! Enjoy it ! Rob

As a regular at The casino over the years the early years (and more commercial) always seemed to be rammed solid. But the busiest night I can recall was the 2nd oldies anniversary (Feb 77 I think) , just totally wall to wall even when they opened Ms up it stayed full everywhere !! Rob

How quick can you do them ?? Morris Chestnut is over in March at Prestatyn (although you are in Paris !!) and the Attractions "Destination You" c/w "Why shouldn't a man cry" would make a good pair to get signed at the event and two great sides as well. Rob & Karen

Yet more bad news regarding great artists, as always see as many of them as you can and let them know that their work is appreciated. RIP Karen & Rob
-
Very Very sad news. Julie was a wonderful person and died so young. Our thoughts go out to Steve one of the nicest people you could ever meet and our thoughts will be with you on wednesday. Rob & Karen

Found loads of stuff over the years, but around 12 years ago i went for a drive in the Peak District one Sunday Morning and found a small "raise money for the under 9s football team" car boot sale. Only half a dozen booters on , all crap they were selling. I saw about 20 albums proped up against the wheel of a car and went to look. des O'Connor, Great Classics, top of the pops-----then out from inbetween then drops the only 45 on the whole boot sale---A mint UK DEMO copy, still in its sleeve---James Walsh Gypsy Band "Coz its you girl" RCA I paid my 25p and left with a smile----but how the F*** did it get there ??? The Record fairy ???

A great record originated of John Manship tapes / Cleethorpes Pier around 1976 I think. Got both copies but watch out it was BOOTLEGGED on Pysche late 70s.!!!
