Hi, could not resist adding something to this thread. Adrian Gyte has always been like a dad to me, trying to keep me in check for over twenty odd years!!. So here goes, I work for Steve Croft and Adrian Gyte (along with my Lesley Singleton RIP xxx) they were the organiser of Clifton Hall, Cleethropes, Bradford Queens Hall (Alan Senior was also a co-promotor pre early split!!!) also Hinkley Leasure Centre, Bolton Town Hall, Warrington, Redcarr and Benson (compliments of Chris King saving the day (anniversary night)) after we lost Bradford Queens hall to the greedy student union who thought they could run it without us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Strads shop and cafe were both run by Steve, Adrian and of course Betty!!! Strads actually stands for Sounds, Television, Radio And Disco Services!!! I would just like to mention Graham Williamson (RIP) who worked as apart of our family team on the door for many years. Also thanks to the person on this thread who mentioned Jan Jones, this will always be my favourite record ever. Brickie (THE DOGS BOLLOCKS xxxx) always played it for me even at the 100 club when there were only 5 copies in the country. He always told me I was his independant woman. I love and miss him so much. Love Karen (and ROB) XXX

Definately got to agree with you Kim. Buzzard niters were fantantic and the music policy was really exceptional!!! My hat goes off to Sue and Jon Buck as they did alot for the scene in the eighties, not only running Buzzard but Loughborough Town Hall (great vidoe!!), Dunstable, Peterborough Fleet, Hemel do's - Buttons and also responsible for great alnighters on the scooter scene at the time!!! They are a great couple who have been there for alot of people over the years including myself, I personally can not thank them enough!! With regards to the main phone, here goes - from Left to right - Mad Mick, Brickie, Dave Lowe, Shaun Burnes, Joan, Ann, Me (over Miles left shoulder) Miles, Mark Jones (over Miles right shoulder) and Andre Douch!!! Numerous more I could name if I had a magnifying glass!!! Love Karen and Rob xxx

And some "Odd fellows" at the Oddfellows These pictures were taken downstairs, very sorry they are poor quality as my scanner is not working. They are of Chris French, Curly and Andy Humphries. The Swindon, Gloucester and Basingstoke crewe hung around together in the early eighties, definately my favority time on the scene!!! Me and Chris were inseparable until his short break away... say no more!! Then I had the good forture to go around with Trina and Steve, Mark Goerge, Mark Oliver, Edwin, Brickie and Mark Sargant!!!!! thats when the fun really started!!!! Love Karen ps I am on the vidoe, all in black dancing next to Chris!!! more of my feet then anything!!!

Here we go Anyone else still got their membership card ??? Oddfellows had a strict policy that everyone had to have a membership card to get in otherwise you had to fill out a form and queue up for another one. All details were then put into a large ledger type book along with your membership number, which was stamped on the back. Mine was 293. I wonder what happened to that log? It would be a true piece of Norther Soul History if it ever turned up!!!! Love Karen

from karen The 1st anniversary nighter, just before the dancing Competition. One of the DJs played MVPs "Turning my heartbeat up"--the whole floor EXPLODED and most of the 600+ people there started STOMPING , the atmosphere was electric. You could not hear the sound of the record over the shuffling on the floor. When the record finished the whole crowd were clapping an cheering THAT IS WHAT OUR SCENE IS ALL ABOUT Between the Oddfellows & Notts Palais is where i met my partners in Crime , , you know who you are Little joan, (before you were jumping) and Louise shhhhh Karen x

True 2 different publications Dennis Black Music was a Mag in the style of Blues and Soul and was a direct rival in the 1970s. Black Echoes was a newspaper (first published 75/76) and became the Glossy Mag that is still publishing today under the ownership of Paul Philips ( who was the Rambler who did the Northern column & also a Top 10 Pop chart maker !!! ) Also as a young lad Den, what issue of Blues and Soul is your article in "What Soul means to me " around 1971/72 you old BUGGER Rob
-
What about when you were at your mum's (in Baldocks Lane?) in the spare bedroom at the back how many years ago is that John ?? Rob

Good luck in your hunt, Ive got some spares but they need sorting out . Missing a few numbers myself, so we might be able to do some swap's when you get sorted. Mine where boxed over 2 house moves and still not sorted out properly yet !!
