  1. Which one is it John ? the paper label or blue plastic type east or west coast ?? rob
  2. Giving this one last shot and we'll put it to bed "Thou shall name thy Soul Night after a record thy hast just purchased and which is slightly cool just remember to put thy post code on the flyer so the rest of us know where it is"
  3. Hi Dave just put the record in my box for Germany (70s room), but on the subject of Barry White what about his Downey label outing as LEE BARRY "I don't need it" a nice cheapie and great dancer ! Now get back to work , the railway needs you Rob & Karen
  4. Thou shall NEVER run another soul night in someone else's venue once it has closed Thou shall search for an obscure venue with a 15,000 square foot dance floor in a town no one has ever heard of before.
  5. And on the Sabeth thy shall rest whilst working out how to post such a video, forsoothe the digital camera afore mentioned spewed forth a still photograph and we encloseth said photograph below for the perusall of Soul Source members to cast their eyes upon the said Moderator "Cunnie" having un-holy convultions and throwing himself down in front of the false God Erroll in the Parish of Kiverton Park.
  6. looks like you are liking this thread, some great replies I'll add another myself "Thy shall not enter dancing competitions if you can't F**king dance and if doing so when the good lord taps you on the shoulder to get off the floor, thy should leave. NOT keep standing there with the good dancers otherwise thy will be made to look a prat"
  7. I can tell you lot only go to the "Church of Northern soul" keep em coming
  8. Let's have a little fun with this one. Many of us got into the scene 30 odd years ago and we adhered to an un-written code of conduct that applied and was rarely spoken about. These "rules" or "commandments" are what bind us together inexplicably. The scene is "fluid" it ebbs and flows and like the tides and no one can control it (although there have been many King Canute's who have tried over the years !). What would be your idea of "The ten Commandments of Northern Soul"? Let's each add one or two and we'll get them listed at the end of the thread For what it's worth here's my starter "Thou shall not play Bootleg records when DJing" Rob
  9. Just had a cheque through this morning for £5 from a Mrs C Jarvis, no address or letter to send poster to etc can't work it out from PMs either although there are 2 orders outstanding from original post ?? HELP !! Rob

  11. looks like a good cause, we'll try and help and do what we can. When they put the marker on Darrel Banks grave in Detroit it generated a lot of good publicity for lesser known Black Soul artist in general and it got loads of press, especially with the Uk involvement. Rob & Karen
  12. Not even thinking about that Tats, but can you remember the Guy we bumped into in the same town who sent us to the black hairdressers supply shop. Her uncle had the store before her and handed over the keys when he went on 25 year stretch at Uncle Sams pleasure for armed robbery. We walked in to be looked at as if we had just landed from Mars (it was your "shell suit" period tats)- We asked if this used to be the oldies record mart, she said "yes 6 years ago". "Do you know where he's moved to ?" "Jacksonville state penentiory" "No records then ?" "Only these under the counter" we looked and it was mainly 70s/80s stuff including around 10 copies of Mark IV "If you can't tell me something good about my baby" Brite lite 7" at 50 cents each (Around £220-£250 at the time) RESULT ! Viva the LaBeat Boys !!!
  13. dave's on here, but i bet he can't remember a lot of them himself I,m useless at lyrics myself, but can remember titles ! Rob
  14. Are these tapes from a venue ? Might help pinpoint who was playing them etc! or old tapes direct from a Dj We all remember most of Searlings stuff when it got un-covered, but later things got a little bit mixed up--just a thought thats all rob
  15. Large batch of posters sent yesterday morning for those of you who were waiting. Still have copies of both as above. Rob
  16. I think this is a REGIONAL thing, depending on what DJs you get to hear. On the lists above Micky Moonshine is played at nearly every Northern night we've been to in the Yorkshire/ Notts area as are several of the others. i also heard The Adlibs a couple of weeks ago But the likes of Sam Nesbitt I probably haven't heard "out" for over 20 years, but you can bet your life that someone is playing these sounds on a regular basis in the N.West or London. Just a thought ! Rob & karen
  17. Pm'd ya-just wait to you see this years !! just like the flyers Still got a few of the USA ones left if anyone missed this thread early on Rob
  18. What about that record james trouble took off the decks at the Britt---lasted about 35 seconds
  19. As tats has now retired, it looks like he'll be putting it all down on paper at some point and using that English A level grade1 he always talks about, I think he paid Roose to sit the exam for him Bully, Sean and Tats--I've got photos from the trip when I can find them in the basement in Washington, now i'd like to get all the copies of Nolan Porter that bully left down there ! Rob
  20. Ok Brian thought you'd like it ! just packing the rest up for everyone who ordered Ojays & others for posting in the morning. we're having some A3s done of the Bridlington one to sell at the event limited edition of 100. Rob
  21. They'll be worth money when they pull Prestatyn down Still in touch with Melvin on a weekly basis-watch this space rob & karen
  22. Can you remember the song that was playing on the radio Sean, it was by a new Washington rap group called Hood brovers or something like it...the first line to the song was ( I quote) "If you come 'round my 'hood white motherf***ker, I'll blow you F***king head off" repeat several times nice tune--no wonder you were on the floor Happy days and YOU got the bobby Reed from the next box to mine rob
