Very sad news about Nige, a truly great guy, full of fun and dedicated to soul music. We will all miss him and all the help he gave to us at Prestatyn and his work on Brean. His passing will leave a huge hole in the scene in the South West and his really close friends will miss him tremendously. Our thoughts are with family ,girlfriend and the close circle of friends who were there for him during his illness. RIP Nige

you believe what you want Ian but there's many who may love the music etc that purely promote events for profit and self interest. Others that deliberately clash and attempt to sabotage "rival" venues. Many venues with little thought or considereation for others behind them and in my opinion it's ruining this scene.
Heard a similar thing about rival promoters telling punters that a "Rival" venue had been cancelled in the town nearby only this weekend, ought to be ashamed of themselves or more ashamed of getting caught at it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had a quick message on my Answer machine saying Ed Wingate , Record producer, Label owner and Detroit legend has passed away, don't know if this has been reported anywhere else yet but it came from Melvin davis, so it must be true ! I will post more when I find out.

Nobodys mentioned The Tudor Barn for a while me and my mate Chris shaw ran it for over a year !!
searling, Soul sam ,Arthur fenn ,Rob Smith all guested there

Can you get a sat night pass to the venue or is it a full weekend you need to book?
I see you are in North wales, its a full weekend package as with all our events, starts at just £25 including 3 nights accom and all dancehall/concert passes
if 6 share a budget appartment, if you can get a few of your mates to go and you are all local, its actually cheaper than trying to buy wristbands !!! I guarenttee you'll have a great weekend and with somewhere to "crash out" as well our bars will be open right through the night !!!

I remember late 80s Rob Wigley finding 3 of these. Him and Rob kept a copy each and the third went on their La Beat Records list for £40. I rang up as soon as received the list, but he'd already had a shed load of calls - agghh!
Rich
Yep still got it Rich and i play it when Djing less than a Dollar each when we bought them---was it you or your mum who rang ???

Get yourself along to Prestatyn in October 13th to 17th "Soul Legends" weekender, featuring The Contours, we re-named it from Motown legends to cover a wider spectrum of "Commercial" soul music, we played hours of Motown at Hemsby, non repeated, and it went down a storm with the punters there, we are also putting on a 70s & 80s room as well as The Main Northern venues (4 Rooms) so if you fancy some of the more commercial stuff to mix with your rare soul platters then this could be ideal for you

I can tell people who went to the original Cleethorpes Pier all-nighters, centred around Doncaster, barnsley & S Yorkshire/lincs area. Put "So is the sun" or "i don't know which foot to dance on" or "elusive" and off they go into the "Cleethorpes Shuffle" -which involves a sidesways slide movement across the floor. know what I mean ?

You've scored again Soul Girl brought back some great memories, even caught myself picking my nose on the "keep on keeping on " video !!!
Donni Burdick was still my favorite from the show, mainly because all the others have had some form of regonition for their music, Donni had never sung before more than 100 people even his wife of 30 odd years had never seen him sing ! If you put "I have faith in you" on here watch his reaction at the end of it, the noise from the 3,000 plus crowd was unbeliveable on the stage, just like being at a football match, he was caught like a rabbit in the headlights of a car !
I nearly had to drag him off the stage ! great stuff & well done
