  1. How quick can you do them ?? Morris Chestnut is over in March at Prestatyn (although you are in Paris !!) and the Attractions "Destination You" c/w "Why shouldn't a man cry" would make a good pair to get signed at the event and two great sides as well.

  2. Found loads of stuff over the years, but around 12 years ago i went for a drive in the Peak District one Sunday Morning and found a small "raise money for the under 9s football team" car boot sale. Only half a dozen booters on , all crap they were selling. I saw about 20 albums proped up against the wheel of a car and went to look. des O'Connor, Great Classics, top of the pops-----then out from inbetween then drops the only 45 on the whole boot sale---A mint UK DEMO copy, still in its sleeve---James Walsh Gypsy Band "Coz its you girl" RCA I paid my 25p and left with a smile----but how the F*** did it get there ??? The Record fairy ???

  3. Hi Rob,

Yes I think it was, blimey the memories, looking through a load of rubbish i have stashed under the bed last week, found a boxing day special ticket( pale blue), 1983, price £1.50 for trotters, Kev Roberts, Dave Evison, and i think it may have been Gary Rushbrook, dont know if you went to this one Rob, but I can remember it being stacked out.

    Never Missed 'em, great venue.

  4. There was a brilliant nighter in Brum about 1972 in the back of an all night prostitute's cafe called the Saints and Sinners, out of 80 people there 95% came from Northants and Harboro.

Archive press reports for The Birmingham Evening Mail state that 95% of people arrested at a raid on a famous all-night brothel cafe were from Northants and Harboro-------

I think Kevin might have based the list on collectors & record shops as well as venues ! He always mentions the famous "Syd Booth's" from Mansfield.

  5. Hi Rob

  8. But it's two women...

So we are still none the wiser, my hearing ain't what it used to be--(they said the disco's would make me deaf) unsure.gif ---but it does sound like 2 women to me.

Also is Gerri Granger Black then ? she sounds like she could be white ?? any pics ?

  9. Strange thread, never seen any of those flyers myself, but you pay your money and you make your choice. A little bit of what you fancy does you good and if you don't like a venue or its music policy then you don't have to go. there are plenty of places to pick from at the moment and you can usually tell by the DJ line up what to expect.

Its a social scene go out and enjoy it !

  10. what about this one--just had an old tape from Wigan days on i found whilst clearing the office out.

Gerri Granger "I go to pieces" and Carol & Gerri "how can i ever find a way" follow each other.

vocal sounds nearly the same is it the same Gerri ? Anyone know ? i bet someone has some black and white footage somewhere !

  12. Such bad news this one.

I can confirm that STANLEY MITCHELL WAS SIGNED FOR PRESTATYN 2007.

He had returned his contract to appear 3 weeks ago after a lot of hard work behind the scenes by Dave Welding.

he was going to be our "Surprise" artist and sing "get it baby" & "Quit twisting my arm"

We seem to be saying week in week out about artist passing away without getting to appear here as we keep saying you have to see them before its too late.

Our thoughts are with Stanleys family at this sad time

  13. Hello Rudzy , the writing on the label looks exactly like Richard Searling's , wonder if it's an acetate that he had cut before selling the original to that guy from Weymouth for [ at the time ] mega bucks ? Just a thought , Best Wishes ,Eddie

BRIAN DONKIN from Poole, I think Eddie was it £600 ???? cica 1979

    thiink i was on £60 a week !!!

  14. AMIRATIONS on PAREE

The authentic original is VERY rare!!

Here how to tell the difference between the horrid scruffy counterfeit which was sold as warehouse stock.. that was the usual excuse after all.

    ORIGINAL

has a pronouced 10.OO mm wide dip before the center hole.

Red lettering is a pale red you can detect the silver background through silver background is light with less gloss. 2 turn dead wax is 13.00mm wide the matrix is about 2.00mm high read in 117-B scratched the deadwax, then a unique matrix with is a W with a a 3 wrote through right hand top of the W. Edge of the vinyl is flat and dull to the touch.

    COUNTERFEIT

Counterfeit copy has a light dip before the center hole: Red lettering is strong red yu cannot see the silver background through, the text is often smudged or looks as if the printer was running out of ink, paper is smooth with a light gloss, that's why the ink didn't take very we1l.. 2 turn dead wax is 14.00mm wide at the 4.2mm high 1 in 117-B scratched the deadwax. Edge of the vinyl narrows with light sharpness at the edge to the touch.

Loads of differences there to check on, think you'll find most people will own the counterfeit. amnd yes who ever pressed stiffed all us trusting collectors again!

God help us when we all get older, pleased John has written most of this down !!!!! :shades:
