  1. Im sure everyone who knows Jonathon will agree that he does a great job with the clips on You Tube which get many hits. When you are searching around for info on artists first job is usually search them on Google and see what comes up. But as we say "Credit where credits due" so I'm pleased the 2 of you have now hooked up and I look forward to viewing posted items from the both of you as you SPREAD THE WORD. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS Rob & Karen
  2. Maze--Rock City--87 ish Miracles--Hemsby 2004 Troy Keyes--Worksop--2005 Melvin Davis Spyder Turner Velvelettes Mitch Ryder 2010 Rob & Karen
  3. Download if its not available on Vinyl then have the good stuff "Carved" for playing out- at least you can cut out all the crap release's that have been flying about as the latest "In thing" in the last couple of years (and the greedy middleman as well ) . The cream will always rise to the top, even on down load /you can contact the singers/owners direct and ask them to do a limited vinyl run for the UK market-instant collectible's-I even have a name for the label - BRETTIF Records-"Its what's in the run-out Grooves that counts" I am putting my order in for the first 10 copies now ! Rob & Karen
  4. Brett have you been over doing the Fry's Chocolate Cream again ? If nobody wants them then there's more for the rest of us to buy, at clearance prices as well ! R & K
  5. nice one mate!
  6. Very sad news indeed We have one of those "nearly" moments. 2008 we were in Memphis and got offered the chance of a full afternoon with Willie in the studio as a guest of Dan Greer 2 days later. Trouble was we were leaving for Muscle Shoals that day and driving to the far side of the State to meet up with relatives. We were knackered and it would have meant a 6 hour drive back to Memphis early hours on the day of the session-so we turned it down-hoping to hook up in 2009. We rang Dan last year told him our dates in town -but Willie wasn't that well-so we didn't get to meet him We also found out the afternoon session we missed was also attended by a singer called AL GREEN sometimes you have to grab every oppertunity with both hands. R I P Willie Mitchell-thank you for your music. Rob & Karen
  7. Thats the bugger-pissed again no doubt i'll get hold of Tony Rob
  8. I think I just re-activated the first BIG OLDIE of 2010 get down T'Attic richie-even Chris & Sue turned up-Jonno was ther as well you can give him a ride over ! Happy New Year Rob & Karen
  9. try this-it says there is Northern by the way so I stand corrected- https://www.essentialmodernsoul.co.nr/ or www.luxurysoulweekender.com
  10. Its more of an upfront modern weekender run by Richard Searling (and Ralph T ?) Great acts and much in line with what Richard was doing on his Radio shows-now number 14 I think -check out EMS-for tons of stuff on it--Based at Balckpool Hilton-as far as I know NO NORTHERN as such Rob
  11. Great to hear that, wasn't he married to an Amercian at one point ? I remember him telling us that he took her to a Northern "Do" and because all the blokes were dancing on their own she called them FAGs and walked out !! also wasn't he living over in the USA-West Palm Beach ?-at one point-thats where he picked up tons of the stuff--evrything had to be MINT ! anyone else seen him ?
  12. Happy new year "Reg" ! I know you were partial to the odd weekender now and then How about giving Bridlington a try-last weekend in June. 5 rooms £20 a tcket for the whole weekend find your own digs. about an hour and a half from you straight down the M62 and up though Beverley or Driffield or on the train to Doncaster (Transpenine Express) and change for Bridlington there ! Gav is one of our residents and has a dedicated Mod room , plus rare & underplayed,Modern, main floor classics and soul club rooms-sure you'd find something you like-about 1,500 tickets already sold event is being "Capped" at 2,300 this year ! Rob & Karen
  13. Urban myth ? US Airforce bases full of records? Not in the UK anyway=anyone on here Know PAT BLAKER? Knew him in the 80s---he had a contact where he visited all the US bases-no a single 45 in sight for years-or he'd have bought them all !! Even the radio was streamed from the USA-anything old they dumped into landfill sites-now is that why Tats and Chris Forrest both moved to Lincolnshire
  14. I have posted my play list on the Attic thread But on the subject of Kenny Smith Back in the 70s when it was played-there were that many "new" records to fit in a DJ wouldn't keep it going on til the end at over 3 mins its very long for the time it was played. Like the talking intro on "Get Out" didn't really fit the bill dance floor wise back then. Also I suspect too long to bootleg as a full version as well (on a 7")-its really a quality record-heavy plastic, well made etc and nice to look at-I would suspect a lot harder to get as well on an issue. I love it-thats why I knew it would go down well on Saturday Rob
  15. I heard Butch play this at the 100 club-with the longer ending-in the late 80s. Like most people in our area -Mansfield--I'd grown up on the bootlegged demo--or the then "cheaper" Gold Spot copy. I immediately set about getting a copy-but I can't for the life of me remember where I got it or what I paid, but I certainly had it by the first anniversary at Keele as I remember playing it in my spot. It caused a bit of a stir at the Attic, but as with all these records you don't hear that often it sounds quite fresh! Rob
  16. Haha! That was me mate. I was in Hawaii 25+ years ago and remember, distinctly, telling Darren about all the stuff I'd found. I visited lots of place but hit on a place called Jellys in Honolulu who had bought out a local Radio Station. Aloha! Sean
  17. Our mis-spent youth re-mastered. I'm going to buy one of these to play in the nursing home
  18. Isn't Richard Searling a buyer for Morrison on the entertainment department-CDs, DVDs etc Might be how they "slipped" in there ! Rob
  19. Very sad news, first met Alan when he was DJing Stockport way, a true collector, a really nice guy, always ready to help out with advice, etc. Great guy so sorry to hear this awful news. RIP Rob & Karen
  20. 10 out of 10 for observation-God knows how many times I've seen that picture over the years and I always thought he was holding Russ Winstanley's Wigan book !!!
  21. looks like myself and Val posted the same time--thats it in the comparison scans ! Hello val Rob
  22. Very certain thats an original-love this record -I bought the bootleg when it was first done-I have both . The boot has a gloss finish to the label, found my orig in the US many years later and its more of a matt finish to it and is lighter green like the one you enclosed Rob
