The show's presenter and, its' recent guests all have a background in / on the NS scene , and what comes over from / during it by both , is an honest enthusiasm for the music and the scene TRUE I first met Steve at Bridlington at the first Spa (SNTD2) Weekender, I liked him instantly (rhymes with Binstanley) What struck me was his un-bounding enthusiasm for all things to do with SOUL music from the 60s to current day stuff-you'll find him in the Modern room a lot as well. His main passion is for Motown and "The BBC" Tag gives you a lot of room and opens a lot of doors in to artists that lesser station DJs would not even get a sniff at-and he can handle it well. Remember you heard this first-Steve is headed for National Radio and will become a household name and what better champion to get our music played weather its a £2 cheapie or a £2,000 in-demander ! The BBC sent him on an outside broadcast to witness the blowing up of the old Blackburn Meadows Power Station cooling towers near Meadowhall - now thats a true claim to fame-- in a Shopping Centre Car Park at 2.30 am on a Sunday morning with half of Sheffield and Rotherham stood there by the way ! So he has credentials as well. . Steve's show might not be Sony Award winning material , but it is enjoyable - and that is all what counts . Did you know Radio Presenters can NOMINATE THEMSELVES for this award Godfrey ? I'm not talking about Chris Evans or in your case Desmond Carrington- but people who have shows on smaller local or Internet Stations -costs just £100 to do it -they can then brag that they are "Sony Award nominee's " sounds good until you know the truth behind it !!! Here it is-cut and pasted from the Sony Radio Awards Web Site WHAT TO DO. . . 1. See Conditions of Entry for full entry guidelines and to check you are eligible to enter. Note: Entry for 2010 is now closed.2. See Categories 2010 to choose the category/or categories that will best showcase your work. If you require guidance, please call Georgina on tel: 020 7723 0106. 3. Prepare your audio in accordance with the category requirements and convert to a single MP3 file, no larger than 55MB, ready for entry. Only broadcast material should be included on your MP3. Judges will not welcome the inclusion of other audio material, such as specially recorded voice links or introductions. 4. Select Make An Entry 5. Complete an entry form for each entry you wish to make.(Before you 'submit' your form, you will be able to: Save / print / edit/ clone or delete your draft as you wish). 6. Upload your audio (a single MP3 file, up to 55MB, per entry). Note: 'Breakfast Show of the Year' and 'Station of the Year' categories require two uploads. 7. When ready, SUBMIT your completed entry form online. At this point you will be prompted to supply your payment details. You can either provide us with a Purchase Order reference for us to invoice you or post a cheque. We regret we cannot accept on-line credit card payments. Payment is £99.88 per entry (£85 + VAT @ 17.5% from 1st Jan 2010) to be made payable to Alan Zafer & Associates Ltd. So there you go Malc -next time you want to be Malc Burton (Sony Radio Awards Nominee) send them £100 and you can use the title !! Rob Wigley-CDM-DFS-ASLEF-FFS.

You want to come and live in England mate-you'd be running back to the States within days ! but seriously there are moves afoot on this Bill and there was someone on here last year trying to get money-percentage of sales-- on her dead husbands discs that were being sold on EBay FFS Rob

As always an element of truth in this post Morgen I got this from an artist via Facebook a few weeks ago:- Yes, I traveled for a while but I am back in Detroit. Mike Terry died last year and Artie Fields died about six months ago. I know that my records are getting played over there. There is a bill that hopefully will be being passed through our congress where I will get paid when a record is played. So far, Artie and now his family have been legally making ALL of the money on me. They have never offered me anything except for less than ten records to sell once. Take a collection (lol). So there is something underway Rob

Everyone's worst nightmare I suspect, I hate to hear stuff like this and to such a high profile member like James as well-but shit happens and James is a lot younger than a lot of us on here-so I'm confident he will bounce back once this is sorted Follow Rod's advice James and sit down take a few deep breaths before rushing in to anything you may regret later Rob

I listen when I can including last night for 2 hours-even an interview with Mr Binstanley claiming he could not Play Ruby Andrews and Martha Reeves "No one there" at the Casino because they were too slow -but he had them in his play box FFS !! The show is on 7pm to 10 pm every wednesday-I think John Kane may be on next week. Its funny how good the records sound in crisp , clear stereo as well, Nothing to obscure, a really good mix from a DJ who will be heading for big things on a radio level (shhhh he's still under 30 so no baggage--great !) and a nicer bloke you could not wish to meet. www.bbc.com/radiosheffield should get you there Rob

Quote "I still look as good as my pictures Rob" (heavy breathing) "It's really HOT here at the moment" (heavy breathing), "I just love your accent Rob" (heavy breathing)...... I think Louise and Karen would have had something to say Dave, as much as I'd have loved to have done the deal..I think we had a lucky escape! Rob

and it needed dipping in boiling water as well, mind you not as bad as the two Jackey Beavers that are on there !! Rob

LOL Its been YEARS since I last heard this out--so is it now in the "Rare and underplayed section"? I think it has its place along side "Supergirl" I still like Keith.....it reminds me of warm summers, packed places, a youthful scene, where everything seemed "new"-packed dance floors with everyone clapping.... But I'd sooner listen to it at home now a days! Rob

$20 to buy $2 to make $20 x 500 = $10,000 profit =$9,000 there MUST be a demand an EP has 4 tracks so there could be other people wanting it If someone was bootlegging one record a month $9K x 12 =$108 K a year nice little earner isn't it ! No royalties to artist / record companies / music publishers Makes it all worth while- nind you they moan when the CPS catches up with them Rob
