  6. The 100 Club is up there with the best of them Ady and always will be.......I've not been for years..but during my 2/3 years as a regular the thing that killed me was always the drive home..zzzzzzzzzzzz...I could always stay down in a hotel-but you are then "Fleeced " with |London prices ! As Ken said we always used to get to the Smoke early, park up for the evening and enjoy the walks through Soho and the West End-a few favourite pubs to go in and have a laugh-make a night of it. There is SO MUCH on and short of hearing your own and Butch's "New" discoveries the Capitol holds no real draw for us to travel down especially on a regular basis -we really should make more of an effort to support you. I always enjoyed the 100 club for its attendees, there were always people in there who you wondered how the Hell they got there . Then there was George Melly spilling out on to the pavement after the early Jazz sessions Money is certainly tight at the moment and with the petrol and travel in general going up by a third in real terms over the last 2 years something has to give. Do you spend £150 on a night out in London or stay within 30 miles of home and spend £50 and switch on the MP3 player in the car/ home to hear the rarer stuff after the night is done? Don't worry too much about the Stafford effect..it was a reunion..as Butch said to me in the Pub before hand.."I don't recognise anyone in here Rob !"..Stafford had its VERY poor nights when it was in full swing with 80 people in there --that's why it shut. Pete Wid and I were talking in the venue and he said "If this many people turned up when it was open, it would still be running" So Ady are you going to do a "Mousetrap"--the worlds longest running all-nighter--still going strong after all these years--or are you going to go out in a blaze of glory? My own opinion is go every 6 weeks and avoid clashes with similar events catering for the rare 60s end of the market. Good luck and best wishes with whatever you decide to do with it. Rob & Karen
  7. Well I missed that one Malc-Kitch also mentioned Dale Winton in his reply--its all "coming together" now Do you think he "Splashed out" on FW ? We'll have to get to the BOTTOM of this sooner or later Rob
  8. Get out more and take yer missus ta pictures--I'll telling you he's a closet collector-who bought the FW for £26K ? its him! and Steven Merchant is Tim Ashebede's twin brother !! have you seen how tall he is you've miss read the thread and jumped in with both feet- Rob
  9. Just pulled these off Chalks thread in FreebasingAlan --you'll never amount to anything in the words of the filum !!some corking one liners in there as well-go and see it !! On Calendar they were talking about the new Ricky Jervais/Stephen Merchant film Cemetery Junction. Didn't quite catch it but there was a version of Do I Love You in the review and some club? As I said I didn't quite see it as was in kitchen. It wasn't Frank Wilson btw. Apparently Cemetery Junction is in Reading. Chalky chalky, on 09 Apr 2010 - 06:39 PM, said: Saw it myself, got the impression from the clip that the club was suppposed to be a northern venue, (wigan?) eamesy Posted 09 Apr 2010 - 09:16 PM I grew up at Cemetery Junction Reading!! Alan
  10. I think he's a closet Northern Boy--as looked so familiar as well when he started getting on telly ! and I didn't realise Cemetery Junction was a REAL PLACE either !! SOUL SOURCERS GO AND SEE IT IS A REAL GOOD FILUM ! Rob & Karen
  11. Went out to the pictures last night to see "Cemetery Junction" the new Stephen Merchant & Ricky Gervais Filum Set in the 1970s-a tale of 3 lads The scene that made me wonder about Ricky is in the dance hall towards the end. A live group are on the stage and singing "Do I love you" (indeed I do)", there are a couple of lads dancing Northern and doing floor word etc. Next song is a version of the Jackson Sisters "I believe in miracles" Now that's 2 seriously odd ball songs to pick in a film score and both wouldn't really be known out side these circles (although both have cropped up on the telly a lot) Anyone know anything ?? Rob

  17. Ive got one, about £3 at the time from that old rock n roll shop on the Wicker in Sheffield-not played it in years-thought it was a Torch sound ?--deff Russ Abbott ! Rob
  18. As always -something's only worth as much as you want to pay for it ! money's tight all over-I'd sooner trade records to get other stuff at the moment -I also enjoy doing that as well 3 Revue records mentioned earlier-all great records that were waiting to have their day! so the price went up. Dave Thorley's just had a VERY long standing Want of mine- I was beaten to it--but didn't have the spare cash to buy at this moment anyway It wasn't cheap as such -but I'd gladly pay that price if another comes along and I have the cash in hand. there's always another day ! Rob

  21. Yes Chalky a solid Modern Oldies spot from Robin-so are the old Modern oldies newies because they are new to some people who didn't hear them when they were new ? or is everything old when it becomes released? what about new 60s ? or old 70s ? If its good play it-and if you yearn for something different search out those places! Rob
  22. Didn't this come from Jerry Williams ? I recall a story where John Anderson found the track on some of Jerry's mountain of tapes and then Andy Rix /Rob Thomas negotiated to get an acetate copy from jerry- got played out via the acetate--then released on Grapevine very shortly aftetwards Rob
